It's no secret - Alt:Vision artist, Medasin, has emerged atop a slew of hungry new generation producers as one of the best and brightest. His long-awaited debut LP, Irene, is a crisp glimmer of honesty and subtle complexities that make up a truly magnetizing listening experience from front to back. As detailed in his interview with Billboard, Medasin dedicated the album to the the only person who helped him see light in a time shrouded by darkness: Irene. Paralleling that same sentiment, he brought in two vocalists, Kaz Moon and Sophie Meiers, who also resonated with his own personal journey, and are featured on the only two vocal-forward tracks on the LP.

"Work For You" feat. Kaz Moon is an easy going track sprinkled with Medasin's signature trappy beats, and laced with flutters that will make your heart do the same. Kaz brings an effortless rhythmic flow that is all his own and makes this song a sure fire stand-out on the album.

"Tired" feat. Sophie Meiers is the danciest select on this full-length masterpiece. Sophie's smooth yet longing vocal tone makes you feel each glowing key stroke that's threaded through the track, that much more deeply.

Do yourself a favor - take a stroll through the city, headphones in, volume up, and soak up the new-wordly sounds of Irene.

Holy shit this album is good. I mean really good. It took me a while to finally get around to playing this through in its entirety, but I couldn't let this opportunity slide away without a BB post. I don't think Deorro has made it onto our pages before, and while we definitely try and support the little guys over prime time successes like Deorro, I just couldn't not post this album. I have tremendous respect for the diversity of the LP while it still retains a lot of the characteristically Deorro sound that has brought him to the top. This is simply 51 minutes of goodness and you all better take notes. Deorro is setting the bar really high for 2017, and I'm not sure we'll see much better. Grammy's out Deorro's coming for ya. Ok this was was a must today. I had the ultimate pleasure of seeing Mako's first ever live show last night, and damn Alex and Logan absolutely crushed it! So a little backstory, the guys have undergone a transformation over the last year moving from their dance heavy roots into a full indie pop soiree that is ready to take on the world! Their new live show has strings, guitars, keys and drums with Alex's vocals leading the way. I've also had the pleasure of hearing their upcoming Hourglass LP due out next Friday December 9th, which is also amazing and is currently available for pre-order here. Let's tap into "Let Go Of The Wheel," this final single from the LP might just be the best of the album. The tune starts warm and relaxed with an uplifting arp and pads filling out the instrumental behind Alex's first verse. As the guitars slide in leading us into the pre-chorus, the track explodes into massively uplifting chorus, full of cascading melodies of vocal ooh's, and layers of sound full of sun soaked strings, pads and a punchy snare/clap. "Let Go Of The Wheel" is a beautiful exposé of their new sound, poised to keep us warm and in high spirits as we launch into the Christmas season.

Stephen's quick rise to prominence has been absolutely incredible to witness. Record after record he's sculpted wildly enjoyable, thought provoking, genre defying, emotionally charged music that has, to say the very least, impressed. I've been waiting for his 'Sincerely' LP to arrive and now that it has, we can look back and enjoy what has occurred and appreciate the groundbreaking tenacity of this young artist.

As a constant purveyor of electronic music, sound design is often the focal point of my discerning ears: the way in which sounds and oscillators are combined with filters and matrixes to construct musical notes unlike anything in current existence. It is this movement of scientific musical advancement that keeps me intrigued and addicted to music discovery. While Stephen has developed a sound design uniquely his own, he has also married it to blues guitar, and piano breathing new life into a relationship that for some new listeners has become seemingly antiquated.

However the ingenuity doesn't just stop there, lyrics make music relatable, singable and above all emotional. In a day and age where many pop lyrics are simple placeholders for notes or rhythms, it is easy to forget about the powerful impact thought provoking lyricism can provide. Lyrics and societal frustrations have always been interwoven, which is why music has continued to be such a beautiful catharsis. It's 'Sincerely' refreshing to see all of this come together in such a robust way.

According to Stephen,

"My album is a story of triumph, of letting go of all the uncertainty in my head and learning to walk the path of my own heart. Sincerely's about realizing how much better this world would be if we all loved ourselves, if we weren’t afraid of being vulnerable and honest. It doesn’t matter who’s president or what technology we invent or what extremists we destroy, the only thing I know is this:

"There will never be peace if we do not all love ourselves."

"And so I believe my generation needs a revolution. We don’t love ourselves. We are trapped in our heads because we were told to figure it all out and in our failed attempts we stopped having fun. We abandoned everything we loved doing because we thought it was slowing us down. We thought growing up was the process of holding on instead of letting go, and now we’re all collapsing under the weight. We don’t know what to do anymore."

"But we can do so much. We can change the world. We have to stop complying to the doubts in our heads and start following our hearts. We have to stop judging each other and start accepting ourselves. We have to stop living selfishly and start giving back. We have to have the courage to take a chance. My generation has all the power if we work together. This is my invitation to the ones who love."

Stephen's album is a perfect realization of where I thought music of the 2010's would be heading, but yet hadn't quite eclipsed. Music artfully crafted using the old with the new. Skillfully articulated and performed with such prowess that I see this album as a exciting roadmap of what lies ahead. Many have pointed out that much of a decade's defining music comes from the latter 5 years and with 'Sincerely,' the music of the 20teens takes flight.

It's not a mystery that I have a total fangirl crush on this Denver based producer, I talk about Illenium all the time actually. I think everything he's done in the past few years has been nothing short from brilliant - his songs are so lush and dreamy, I can listen to his originals and remixes on repeat for days!  Today Illenium drops his debut full length album Ashes and we are gushing! With a combination of indie dance, electro pop, future beats and soulful R&B vibes, each track is a little piece of heaven. It's pretty rare that we feature an album, but this one is special and we think everyone should know about this masterpiece! I've picked a few tracks to feature here, but for a limited time you can download Ashes for free HERE
