BLAKE ROSE - BEST OF ME

MusicKelsey JamesComment

The Australian crooner stole our hearts earlier this year with his debut release “Hotel Room” and now, Blake Rose is back with “Best of Me.” This single is his most personal work yet, having written and produced everything himself. Everything from his vocals down to the riveting piano melodies fits the message behind “Best of Me.” The track itself is reflective of his own experiences of dealing with someone that is hounded by the darkness of drug addiction.

The alt-pop singer and songwriter is certainly on the up and up, with tons of features on official Spotify playlists and millions of plays across the spectrum. Listen to “Best of Me” now!

MEL ODY & RORY HOPE - REIGN IT IN

MusicKelsey JamesComment

Based in Athens, Greece, DJ and producer Mel Ody brings his take to the future bass genre with his latest “Reign It In.” The track is one that has been in the works for over a year from both Mel Ody and vocalist Rory Hope. Hope’s voice is perfectly complimented by the upbeat and optimistic production as the two create something pretty remarkable! “Reign It In” is part of a handful of singles and remixes from Mel Ody, with more solo releases and collaborations on the way.

KID CUDI - MAN ON THE MOON (NOKO REMIX)

RemixKelsey JamesComment

The LA-based electronic duo NOKO is back and this time, with their remix of the classic Kid Cudi track “Man On The Moon.” NOKO has been on my radar since their last remix release, which was also their debut, to San Holo’s “Lift Me From the Ground.” It’s tough to take on such a timeless track like this one, yet somehow the two do it and do it well. This future bass re-imagining is a nostalgic, yet new, exploration: a take that something both fans of Kid Cudi and electronic music can appreciate.

After this remix, the two have some originals in store for fans this summer. For now, give “Man On The Moon” a listen and soak up the almost summer vibes.

JAI WOLF - BETTER APART (FEAT. DRESAGE)

MusicKelsey JamesComment

“Better Apart” by Jai Wolf ft. Dresage is the fifth single from his forthcoming debut album The Cure to Loneliness. So far, his past singles have showed him evolving as an artist, while heading more towards an alternative-indie style sound. In this single, he enlists Dresage for another high-energy, feel-good hit. Her light and airy vocals are backed behind classic and ethereal Jai Wolf production.

This release marks the final single before The Cure to Loneliness. This album is his chance to shine amongst his other Foreign Family Collective label-mates as he progresses further away from just being the artist behind “Indian Summer.” I can’t wait to hear what he has in store!

MANILA KILLA - WAKE UP CALL (SLOW MAGIC REMIX)

RemixKelsey JamesComment

Slow Magic is a master at creating fluttery and infectious rhythms over pounding beats. His discography reflects this, with hits such as “Girls” and “Waited 4 U.” Last night, he kicked off his tour with a brand new live set-up. To celebrate such a monumental occasion, he dropped his remix of Manila Killa’s “Wake Up Call.” I stumbled upon the remix totally by accident as I was deep into a Spotify search, and how pleasantly surprised I was! “Wake Up Call” is the second track on Manila Killa’s recently released album titled 1993.

Slow Magic’s tour is running now through May 4, stopping in major cities such as Orlando, Boulder, Las Vegas and more. To see a complete list of the cities he’s stopping in or to purchase tickets to a show, click here.

SAN HOLO - LIFT ME FROM THE GROUND (NOKO REMIX)

Kelsey JamesComment

Enter into the world of serene and beautiful; enter into the world of NOKO. The indie duo out of Los Angeles are debuting this brand new project with their remix to San Holo’s “Lift Me From the Ground.” They took the beautiful elements and vocals of what made the song, and turned it into something even more dynamic. The remix, released only 4 days ago, has already amassed over 20,000 plays on Soundcloud - no easy feat for a new artist!

Their San Holo remix is the first of a string of remixes from NOKO. Stay tuned for even more, and their debut EP coming this summer!

DROELOE - ONLY BE ME (DUSKUS REMIX)

RemixKelsey JamesComment

Duskus returns to the forefront of the coveted Bitbird label with his remix of DROELOE’s “Only Be Me.” His take on the already amazing song gives it a bouncier, dancier feel. Duskus is one of the newer additions to San Holo’s Bitbird label, along with label-mates DROELOE. To be honest, there is not one release under the Bitbird label that I haven’t enjoyed, which speaks volumes on the quality of their artist’s production and skills.

Stay tuned for more from Duskus this year. He is an artist that you’re going to want to keep on your radar!

ODESZA - LINE OF SIGHT FT. WYNNE & MANSIONAIR (CHET PORTER REMIX)

Music, RemixKelsey JamesComment

A year and a half ago, ODESZA released their monumental third studio album A Moment Apart. Since then, the duo dropped various remixes along the way up until today: the official A Moment Apart remix album featuring friends of Foreign Family Collective. Chet Porter is one of the featured artists on the album, being a fan-favorite from the FFC label. Chet is known for his beautiful, ethereal music, which he incorporates in his remix of “Line of Sight,” featuring WYNNE & Mansionair. In this remix, he stays true to the power of the vocals by WYNNE, but manages to add his own pop up-beat flair.

His music always seems to wrap me up in a nice warm hug. Give it a listen and see for yourself!
