LISTENING & LOVING: BEAR CAVALRY

[Your Name Here]Comment

If I had a doller for every band I hear coming out of the UK right now, I would be fucking rich!   Bear Cavalry are currently on my radar - and I love love love them!

Formed in Gosport on the Southern English coast Bear Cavalry are a band that are not easily described.   Between the four members they use at least seven different instruments to create a unique fusion of styles.   Combining intricate rhythms, African chants, trumpets, falsetto vocals and electro synths the band are difficult to tie to any one genre.   Despite having such a vast range of musical influe...nces each song still manages to maintain immediate hooks and pop sensibilities.

Check out their Maple Trails EP - you can pick it up on iTunes as well!   The first track "Roman Summer" has got me dancing around my room in my underwear!  This is British indie tropical pop goodness!

NEW MUSIC: TEST HOUSE - LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH

I am going to continue with 80's synth pop sounding jamz all day today because I am feeeeeeling it!!   Hello Test House - you are pretty much amazing!

Test House is the New York City-based duo of Peter Schuette (ex-Silk Flowers, ex-Psychobuildings) and James Elliott (ex-Bear In Heaven, ex-School of Seven Bells).   The group blends elements of '80s electro, German cosmic music, classic House, dub, deep R&B, the film scores of Goblin and John Carpenter, Detroit Techno, and various strains of modern dance music for a unique take on synthetic pop.   The resulting sound aims a skewed dancefloor tractor beam at your ass while disrupting normal brain function with blissed-out grooves and hypnotic melodies.

NEW MUSIC: SOFT RIOT

Here is something delicious for all you 80's synth digital dark wave lovers!   Soft Riot, AKA Jack Duckworth, comes from London and is a one man show!   I often worry about one man bands - because 9 times out of 10 the live show fails badly!   I have heard, however, that Soft Riot pulls it off.   I think this would be a fun show to go to - I can get my goth dance on....I love goth dancing!!

As much as I love to hate on Foster The People - I just can't be that way today!   Home town boys have done it again - impressed me when I so don't want to be impressed by them.   I want to hate them like every one else I know - I really really do - but I just can't!!

This new video for "Houdini" is great!   I did..... I laughed out loud - they are always doing really creative cool shit man....   This is my favorite Foster The People song as well.   And they look good....just so cute!!   And they like really good music.....ugh!

As much as I try to hate them, I just can't!!

NEW MUSIC: AGE OF CONSENT - HEARTBREAK

I just got my 80's dance on!   Age of Consent have released their new single called "Heartbreak" and I totally just got a new wave fix that is leaving me wanting more!   I have just stepped into a John Hughes film - I hope I get to make out with James Spader!!

"With a percussive Prince-like drum sound and skittering analogue synthesizers that fizz into forlorn, melodic vocals, Heartbreak is an after-dark hymn to a long-dead love affair.   The song takes it’s inspiration from the death of loved ones and reimagines the loss as the harrowing end of a relationship."

NEW MUSIC: BARCELONA - EVERMORE

Barcelona have given the world their second single from upcoming record Not Quite Yours, and it's just so good!   May 8th is the release date, and they are giving us a new single every week until that day!   This week it's "Evermore".   I also included a live in studio preformance of last weeks single release "Slipping Away" so you can get a taste of live Barcelona!

REMIX: THE CAST OF CHEERS - ANIMALS (TROPHY BOYFRIEND REMIX)

All kinds of things going on with this band lately!   The Cast Of Cheers keep giving me awesome things to talk about!   This week they have released a new remix of single "Animals" and are offering it for free download!

Irish quartet The Cast of Cheers are getting ready to unleash their first proper album, released June 18th on School Boy Error/ Co-operative Music.

Ahead of the release of their first proper debut album later in the year, the band are releasing “Animals”, a rousing, raucous monster of a track which nimbly hopscotches between delirious guitar loops, jackhammer synths and anthemic vocals to create a white knuckled rollercoaster of a ride in its sweet but succinct running time.
