NEW MUSIC: THE VIRGINS - VENUS IN CHAINS

[Your Name Here]Comment

WOW!  It's a new single from The Virgins!  I was lucky enough to DJ for this band years back - that was really fun!  They have been off the radar for a minute (4 years) - and now frontman Donald Cumming has reformed his band, bringing in new members John Eatherly (drums), Xan Aird (guitar) and Max Kamins (bass) for a new 7" single entitled "Venus in Chains."

This new single kind of falls short for me - it is missing that dance element that I loved about The Virgins and has gone more Tom Petty.  Maybe it will have to grow on me, so we shall see how things go when more new music is released.  Still....such a great band!

WHAT'S GOIN ON LA?

I missed posting upcoming shows last week because I had the pleasure of going out with Breton on their west coast dates, and that was a real treat.  What I am most excited about this week.....Plants And Animals! They are hands down one of my favorite Canadian bands ever!  Their live show is sick!  I wont be seeing them in LA however, I will be in San Francisco on business but I will be checking out their show at Bottom Of The Hill while I am there!

Album I am currently listening to: Silversun Pickups - Neck Of The Woods.  The first track on this album - "Skin Graph" - blows me away!  They have a great talent of starting their records off with a kick.  There is good stuff going on this week....get out there and see some live music!

Oh boy oh boy!!!  It is an exciting time for Los Angeles darlings Saint Motel!  "1997" is the new single off of their debut full length album Voyer which dropps July 10th!

I have watched this band grow over the years, and they are just amazing people - well done lads!  If "1997" gives us an insite to what the rest of the album will be like, we are all in for a real treat!

New Yeasayer!!  It's all over the interweb right now....people are very excited, and so am I!  "Henrietta" has hit and its music media frenzy time!!  Saw this amazing band for the first time with MGMT oh so may years ago - and there was a percussion instrument thrown into the crowd from satge and it hit a girl in the head really badly.....it was intense!

This is a great track!

NEW MUSIC: HEALTH - TEARS

HEALTH - fuck what an amazing band!   They have just written the soundtrack for the new Rockstar Games latest release - Max Payne 3!   It must be really cool to do something like this!

"TEARS", the original song by Max Payne 3 Soundtrack composers HEALTH first heard in the game's official TV spot.

HEALTH's unique blend of rock, powerful drums and electronic soundscapes lends itself perfectly to the score for the game.  Taking influences from Brazil, Max’s native New York and the themes of the original games, HEALTH have put together a fantastic soundtrack that perfectly embodies the tone and the atmosphere of Max Payne 3.  Distinctive arrangements unique to each level accompany Max on his journey through the game's locations, perfectly framing the game's epic action sequences and the dark and gritty story.

FREE show tonight in Los Angeles @ Pherspace - 10pm till 6am......oh shit!
