NEW MUSIC: MISTER LIES - MAGICHOUR (FT. KNOWER)

Erin MaherComment

Mister Lies is the product of dorm-room insomnia, the development of a family of friends in a city of strangers under altered states and the feeling of homesickness for places where one only feels homesick.  It is also the operational alias for a 20-year-old producer, multi-instrumentalist and feral child who was raised by wolves in the forests of a Connecticut suburb.  Somewhere down the road, those winds whisked him away and dropped him off in Chicago.  Eventually, he formed a fresh pack of lone wolves all aiming to create something greater.  In the harshest parts of winter in the Windy City; equipped with a laptop, several controllers and whatever instruments were lying around his congested dorm-room; he released his first EP anonymously before eventually revealing his identity as Nick Zanca.  Before long these atmospheric, nocturnal tracks started making rounds.  After many months away, Zanca revisited his New England roots with a collection of Rudyard Kipling's written work and a carload of microphones, synthesizers and samplers and camped out at a cabin on a lake in Vermont. Zanca's debut full-length MOWGLI, out on Lefse in early 2013, is the eight-track result of that meditation and soul-searching – an aggressive hunt for self-awareness and feral youth.

NEW MUSIC: LOVELIFE - EVERY MINUTE

Erin MaherComment

Excuse me while I geek out - but Lovelife has released another new single, which means we here at Beautiful Buzzz are having the best Monday ever!  This new track "Every Minute" comes at just the right time!  After just completing a state wide tour with Capital Cities and Gold Fields, Lovelife are jumping on tour with our SoCal heroes The Neighbourhood..... TODAY!  And.....this track is going to be released as a 7" split with The Neighbourhood that can only be bought on tour!  Rad!  Looks like I'll be coming up on some new vinyl schwag in Sacramento tonight.

Lovelife was our baby band that had top billing at our SXSW showcase this year, pretty much melting my heart with their amazing live set and overwhelming sweetness.  "Every Minute" is going back to the beginning - having the same sexy synthed out R&B dance pop feel as their first single that won my heart "Your New Beloved".  It's sexy time kids, this is lovin' music with a smooth dance groove minus the cheese!  The songs just keep coming from this UK foursome, one hit after another - it's very exciting to watch it all happen!  Stoked for their show tonight, I'm gonna do me some dancing!  Check out the other tour dates HERE and be smart, get out to a show!

NEW MUSIC: A GRAVE WITH NO NAME - AURORA

Erin MaherComment

On July 2, A Grave With No Name will return with a new album titled Whirlpool on Lefse Records.  Recorded over the course of a year at Holy Mountain Studios in London, Whirlpool is an album of contrasting beauty, from the hushed lullaby of "Bones" and the piano-led curtain call "Balloons", to the euphoric glee of "Origami" and the album’s opening song "Aurora", which glides so perfectly with a sense of subtle romanticism.  Nice!

Grab "Aurora" as a free download!

NEW VIDEO: FUTURE UNLIMITED - HAUNTED LOVE

Erin MaherComment

When I found out from my amazing friends Future Unlimited that Shia Labeouf would be directing their first official music video for single "Haunted Love" - I knew we were going to end up with something special.  The result has exceeded every expectation I may have had, and it's left me feeling....well....fucked up!  This film clip is so unbelievably beautiful; haunting and dark with disturbing imagery of a love gone bad....really really bad.  It's amazing!  This makes me remember a time when music videos were actually taken searousally - these days so many bands record themselves with a camera phone, throw some effects on with a cheesy editing program and BAM - video.  This Future Unlimited video is actually film, it's art!  Well done boys!

Future Unlimited will be making their way to the west coast next month for a few shows, and there may even be a bay area date - so keep your eyes open kids!

NEW MUSIC: MOVEMENT - FEEL REAL

Erin MaherComment

It is a very busy day for music!  Some of the best news I heard all day has been the new signing of Movement to Modular Recordings!  Impassioned by music, particularly classic soul and the trailblazing r'n'b of the late 90's and early 2000's, Movement came into being the night that Jesse, Sean and Lewis got together and wrote "Feel Real", their first single.  After some time refining their sound and feeling their way through their collective strengths, it became obvious that this time it was something special, and thus Movement was born.

"Feel Real" struck upon something for which they'd been searching, henceforth setting a working blueprint for the band, their shadowy, tender take on dance music one that could only be born after dark.  This debut single drops May 24.  Late June sees a remix bundle of the single release, featuring Morgan Geist, Ta-Ku and Shadow Child.

Brooklyn-based synthpop duo Holy Ghost! are excited to unveil their new music video for their new song "Dumb Disco Ideas."  The video, directed by Ben Fries, features a plethora of colorful, synchronized lights and a backdrop of the New York City skyline from dusk until dawn.

"Dumb Disco Ideas" is a new song from the band's upcoming sophomore album, Dynamics, which will be released this fall.  Dynamics will be the follow-up to the group's critically acclaimed self-titled debut album which was released in 2011.
