Luxury is a new project by West London-based musical prodigy Andy Smith.
The modest and secretive 22-year-old artist allegedly works out of a tightly-cramped room somewhere adjacent to the M4, but as his distant promotional image might suggest, he is a discreet individual who wishes to let his music talk for him – and that it does. Densely textured and vibrantly flavoursome, this progressive turn of electronic sounds mixes deep, rhythmic dance with real pop hooks, placing pure emphasis on relentless melodies to deliver a modern gift to enchanted ears.

CommentI am totally feeling the love today, so this new "Permission To Love" video from Hayden James is perfect! It's a Future Classic release - which means it's brilliant! Again, Australia... you are amazing! "Permission To Love" premiered a few weeks back - it's a steady and spacious balearic-leaning disco track. The video pairs the song with a nicely 8 bit visual accompaniment and homage to some seedily classic computer games. The 12" single is out June 10th, digital June 28th - the first intro to what will be an EP coming on Future Classic late July.

CommentTalk about 2 worlds colliding - this Ghost Beach cover of "Vultures" by John Mayer is unexpected and very cool for a number of reasons.....and I am tickled pink over what my ears are currently hearing! When I was a wee las, I started working in the music industry with John Mayer oohhhhh....12 years ago, just when he was starting to do big things. Room For Squares was still on Aware Records, he was still playing to 50 people in small clubs - and we were young and excited about ...... everything! I then started working at Sony (Columbia Records) who picked up Mr. Mayer and worked is record on that end.
Fast forward 12 years, a band I have worked with and who I LOVE - Ghost Beach - just KILLED this John Mayer cover. The two artists couldn't be more different, however Ghost Beach was able to translate the soul of the original song into their poppy synthed-out version perfectly. I may not be as young now, but I still hold that child like enthusiasm for Ghost Beach and the music they are making now much like I did for John so many years ago! Fuck yea Ghost Beach, this pretty much made my life! Grab this track as a free download!

Already a regular in the underground dance and club production circuits, he creates a glitzy and melodic fusion of dance and left-field pop, informed equally by 80's synth-funk, the sound of Kitsune and Ed Banger and classic house and disco, all the while maintaining a contemporary and instantly hook-laden sheen that is distinctly his own.
"Adore You" is the first single off Digital Farm Animals' forthcoming Bugged Out EP that is released August 26th that will feature 3 tracks with various vocalists, each lending their own distinctive touch to his brand of celebratory synth-funk. Ofei who features on this track came to notice recently with the off-kilter, electronic soul of his solo track "London" as well as having done a string of eclectic mixes.
NEW MUSIC: CUB SCOUTS - PARADISE
CommentThe 4th of July holiday would not be complete with out an Australian indie pop hour! It's our favorite time, and our favorite indie pop.....that good old Australian indie pop..... it's just so fucking good! This band caught my attention last year with their brilliant gem -of-a single "Told You So" - and now Cub Scouts are back with this equally great track "Paradise." With this track, they accomplish more greatness in 2 minutes and 37 seconds than most indie pop bands have in whole albums - or ever for that matter! They are from Brisbane, they are unsigned, and they are pretty awesome! Cub Scouts music contains the perfect amount of edge that keeps pop music from sounding, well, boring. I love this band, their songs are huge, their sound is huge - in my opinion it does not get better than this band when it comes to pop music. "Paradise" comes out July 19 - and then a new EP soon to follow. Fuck yeah Cub Scouts!
