RÜFÜS -SUNDREAM (VIDEO)
CommentSo far my favorite thing about 2014 has been 1: seeing my first live RÜFÜS show, and 2: having RÜFÜS play my SXSW showcase while I gazed loving upon them. For the last few years I have followed this little Australian band, and finally getting to see them live and actually work with them has been a real pleasure! They are in pretty high demand at the moment, so I'm not sure we they'll be playing another one of my shows this year, even though I am really trying to make it happen - but I digress ...... they are amazing!! Their video for 'Sunderam" is delicious, and the song is even better! Enjoy!
CHET FAKER - 1998
CommentI mean..... it's really really hard not to swoon over Chet Faker. "1998" is the second single off of his just released debut record Built On Glass via Future Classic / Downtown Records. If music were my perfect man, it would be a Chet Faker song. Bearded white boy soul groove electro pop with depth and sex - that's a Chet Faker song. You should really pick up this record via iTunes here, and maybe you too can make the ladies swoon!
NIGHTBOX - IN THE RURAL
CommentOne of my biggest letdowns was when Nightbox dropped of our SXSW showcase this year. Worst part about it all was that their agents forgot to tell us they had to drop until a week away from the show, and then had a very amusing email discussion amongst themselves about the realization of their error, not knowing we were copied. We all got a big laugh out of it - shit happens - and we love Nightbox! This latest single "In The Rural" is a electro pop gem. It's just warm and fuzzy - and I love that they are taking about Toronto as opposed to ...... California or something generic like that! Who knew Toronto could be so cruel! I love Canada! Nightbox drops The Panic Sequence EP on April 22 - this one is gonna be a must have!
CLANCY - TAKE IT SLOW
CommentIt's been nothing but house music all day long at the Beautiful Buzzz Disco Office! I've been a busy little bee - booking shows and making shit happen. London/Manchester producer Clancy got my attention with his new single "Take It Slow" where the title reflects nothing about the track. This is deep house disco deliciousness - 100% gravy! I'm thinking this may show up on the next Beautiful Buzzz Mixtape! Download this track for free and give it a spin!
THE GOLDEN PONY - FILTHY LOVER
CommentIt's almost the end of the work day for most west coasters, but for me it's that time where I have to gear up for the "second shift" - which is either sending and answering emails for the rest of the night, getting ready to go to a show, or spend endless hours on artwork for my upcoming events and web site. The second shift will always start off with some deep house, and The Golden Pony scored with "Filthy Lover" - and by the way I just followed them on soundcloud, and I am their 6,666 follower! This is some dirty disco funk here kids, electronic bliss for my ears, deep dankness for my soul! It's good shit man!! You can grab this track as a free download! Hooray!
HEY CHAMP - DOMINOES
CommentWell, my day has officially been made. Everytime Chicago dance pop outfit Hey Champ release a new track - one million angel babies in heaven are born - the fat kind with rosey cheeks! "Dominoes" is the latest installment, and it's delicious! We'll be getting a Hey Champ tour soon in the states, so everyone grab your dancing shoes and get ready to shake your ass!
BLOOD ORANGE - UNCLE ACE (a/jus/ted REMIX)
CommentIt's been a rough day - had very restless night, the woes of the world weigh heavy upon my mind. Good things happening all around me yet I can't seem to get out from this blanket of concern. Then, I get to listen to something like this, and all that "fear" seems to disappear - music is the cure for all things! So is Blood Orange, and so is this phat a/jus/ted remix of "Uncle ACE" - and if you were at Coachella last/this weekend and passed/pass on seeing his live set, shame on you! I mean, just get your headphones out and get into this, that is all!
THE GREEN ROOM - SXSW VIDEO
CommentSo, me and my besties The Most Definitely threw one of the biggest independent parties at SXSW 2014, and not gonna lie - we crushed it! I have never been more proud of a group of people like I am of my team in Austin this year - and the months of work, the blood, sweat and tears that went into making this event such a success all paid off...... we turned it up! Here is a short video from our Vitalic Noise day featuring Goldroom, Miami Horror, Touch Sensitive, The Knocks, Ghost Beach, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Basecamp, Seekae, Chela, Night Drive, Polytype, Cakes Da Killa, Dart Party, The Most Definitely (DJ Set), and all the beautiful people in Austin - and a huge thanks to the 90 bands that participated in our four day event, you make the magic happen and we do it all for the love of music..... you!!
