Will Atkinson - Telescope
CommentWill Atkinson is no stranger to the trance scene, and his most recent release “Telescope” is proof that this Scottish producer is here to stay.
Known for his eclectic sound, Telescope delivers the uplifting Subculture-style trance that many fans fell in love with him over. The track delivers beautiful sweeping melodies and percussion in the breakdown reminiscent of his 2016 release, “Subconscious,” that makes you feel like you’re being sent off to space. The song feels like a call back to the older ASOT/Anjunabeats trance tunes from the mid-2000s.
The track also features a re-recording of Anne Hathaway from Interstellar, as the original sample he played out in sets was not cleared for release.
“So listen to me when I say that love isn't something that we invented. It's... observable, powerful. It has to mean something [...] Maybe it means something more - something we can't yet understand. Maybe it's some evidence, some artefact of a higher dimension that we can't consciously perceive. I'm drawn across the universe to someone I haven't seen in a decade, who I know is probably dead. Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space.”
There’s no question that this tune is already up for trance track of the year, and it’s only February. However, there’s no telling what else Will’s got up his sleeve. Until then, we’ll just have to wait.

Unable to get past the striking songwriting, the soulful background permits listeners to find an immediate connection with the song.
“I want to convey honesty in my music and Toronto has always had a way of bringing out this hollow/lonely feeling in me. I wanted to write about it as if it’s this monster that keeps finding a way to get me. I find a lot of people here seem to feel caged by the atmosphere, I know I certainly have my whole life, so I’ve been wanting to write this song for a very long time.” - ARI
