I have one rule- don't remix Zeppelin. Anyone, and anything else is up for grabs, but that doesn't mean it's an easy feat. For example, America's ultimate sad girl, Lana Del Rey...not easy to flip. Her charmingly smoky vocals, and avant-garde depression- it works. But Moving Castle's Valentine, and multi-instrumentalist Rob Araujo tackled a Lana remix with a swift swagger. The original track, "Lust For Life" featuring The Weeknd just got a chrome makeover, and a taste of the future. Light up your square, Lana, it's impressive. The co-remix heeds elements of future bass, glitch funk, and uses bouncy production to hollow out a landscape for Lana, and The Weeknd's grammy award winning vocals to continue to shine. This track goes up, down, and side to side yet remains strictly, and intentionally composed. This "Lust For Life" remix is far out enough to be the future of indie-electronic, and approachable enough to remind you of the most witchy woman in the game right now.

KASBO - FOUND YOU (FEAT. CHELSEA CUTLER)
MusicCommentIt wouldn’t be a week in new music without another release from some under 21 youngster who’s got mind-blowing production talent. Sweden’s Kasbo, whose remixes of Big Gigantic, Vance Joy, and Mutemath we’ve featured previously, is here with his third original song out today via San Holo’s label bitbird. For “Found You” he’s teamed up with Ultra signee Chelsea Cutler who’s already had a busy 2017 with a string of stellar collabs with the likes of Louis The Child, ayokay, and Kidswaste. Beginning with modulated vocal bends and the sounds of birds chirping leading into Cutler’s dainty sing-song melodies, the track goes on to emulate the subtle floating emotions of ecstasy that come with finding someone with whom the feeling is mutual. In three minutes, Kasbo with his playful percussion and vibey synths and Cutler with her airy sweet vocals have managed to create an impressive tune that exemplifies young love in 2017.
NOAH - AIRPORT BAR (COASTAL REMIX)
Music, RemixCommentIt’s the holiday season, so a time for traveling and spending time sitting in airport bars contemplating life, right? At least that’s what R&B/Neo-soul singer Noah must have been thinking last year when he dropped “Airport Bar” - a slow burning, blissfully relaxing number that borrows the melody from Willy Wonka’s “Pure Imagination” and became a smash hit on Soundcloud.
This year, Coastal — co-founder of SoCal label Clouds Collective and part of Ethereal Family — revisits the record, bringing it up to speed into a playful electronic track with some tasty future bounce. I’m a fan.
