ERIC SHARP - A LITTLE MORE FT. SPENCER LUDWIG & SHANDRA DIXON

Music, Original MixEricComment

Now that all the Coachella buzz and all the subsequent Palms Springs and LA parties have been laid to rest, I'm slowly trying to get back to the slog or normalcy. Which certainly isn't easy, but tracks like Eric Sharp's "A Little More" definitely help. This track grooves hard yet still manages to remain upbeat, soothing and even relaxed. Certainly due to the incredible trumpet line from Capital Cities' Spencer Ludwig and the graceful vocals of Shandra Dixon. According to Eric the record "represents the eternal wellspring of hope that is around every corner if we look for it. It celebrates the joy and release that music and dancing can inspire in us all." Music is certainly that, and while I may be looking for a little extra reserve of joy to help get me through this week, it's records like "A Little More" that totally hit the spot. For a limited time you can get a free download of this track here.

RL GRIME - AURORA (NGHTMRE REMIX)

Music, RemixErin MaherComment

Pretty much two of my favorite things - and on a day like today as the world is mourning the loss of music legend Prince - we all need to feel the love, in any form of music we may like listening to. Feeling it here with my boys RL Grime and NGHTMRE! As if we all didn't know this would eventually happen - NGHTMRE puts his spin on bass lord RL Grime's "Aurora" and I'll be playing this one all weekend while I run around the streets of LA on my mini vaycay! OMG y'all you can get a free download HERE!

ROBOKID - 23

Music, Original MixErin MaherComment

I pretty much have a crush on every Moving Castle artist - they are all super babes and so talented! This one here tho, OMG swoon Robokid is so dreamy .... I feel all girly and stuff (batting eyelashes). We got to do some hangs when he played our SXSW show in March, and I kinda definitely swooned a little - but I am used to it I guess, I live my life surrounded by dreamy boys! But let's focus OK - because the music is fucking amazing and really what's important here! Just now Robokid dropped a new original that is equally as dreamy with all the feels - and if you have been watching the Coachella live stream "23" is the theme song, how cool is that!!  You can swoop this one from iTunes HERE!

MAGGIE LINDEMANN - THINGS (TAYLOR WISE REMIX)

Music, RemixEricComment

Taylor Wise has been on fire recently skyrocketing to the top of the hypem charts with his "Chocolate" and "September" remixes. We had the ultimate pleasuring of premiering his Smallpools "Dreaming" Remix back in February that also reached #1. Well he's back with another tropical themed rework of Maggie Lindemann's incredible single "Things." The record starts quick with bobbing synth stabs and the original's infectious background vocal arpeggio. Not really sure how to describe that vocal line but you get what I'm saying ha ha. Taylor has a wonderful way of combining the synth work into his energetic rhythm section so adeptly that it grooves smoother than silk. By the drop we're treated to a skillfully done vocal chop on top of the moving synth lines that make the record equal parts exciting yet also very relaxing. Add another great remix to his already stacked catalogue. Nab this as a free download here

(LOSS OF A LEGEND) PRINCE - STARE

Music, Original Mix, FEATUREEricComment

While posting on twitter for our latest premiere, I saw the internet bursting over this sad news. It was literally two weeks ago at brunch after our Goldroom show at Mezzanine, Erin and I were talking about the phenomenon that is Prince, and the impact he's had on the industry. Admittedly I didn't fully appreciate the entire depth his incredible catalogue, so I've been reaching deeper into his music since then. To have this terrible news happen now is both extra sad and fitting. While I could post any number of his hits, "Kiss," "Purple Rain," "Little Red Corvette," "Let's Go Crazy," "When Doves Cry," "I Wanna Be Your Lover" I could go on and on. However I thought it fitting that because we're a new music blog I should post something from his most recent, final and 39th studio album "HITnRUN Phase Two," which was released just this last December.

"Stare" is a perfect harmony of his unfathomable presence in pop, yet also indicative of his mastery of so many other genres namely Funk, Dance, R&B and Rock. "Stare" is a fun, eclectic and of course sexy record featuring an incredible slap bass line, funky guitar and horns. While "Stare" will undoubtedly be overshadowed by many of the other classic tunes from his legacy, I wanted to support a record that I love and one you most likely will not be hearing too much about in the wake of his death. R.I.P.

[PREMIERE] SELVA - STRUCK (FT. LUKE CUSATO)

Music, Original MixEricComment

Let us start your Thursday with an ice cold chiller of a record from Australia's Selva. A raw and emotional tune, Selva teamed up with Luke Cusato for an incredible vocal performance on this beautifully haunting tune. Selva's jazzy piano chords fit perfectly with the light rhythm and esoteric synth work escorted by killer background vocals that can send shivers down your spine. By the bridge the record picks it up with bright saw synths and a melodic arp that takes us through to the end. You can nab this courtesy of Heroic Recordings on all digital retailers here

DZEKO & TORRES - HOME FEAT. ALEX JOSEPH (LOUD LUXURY REMIX)

Music, RemixEricComment

Eric here, delivering your daily dose of deepness! God I'm such an alliteration nerd, but anyways sink your teeth into this tasty jam from Toronto's Loud Luxury. Remixing Dzeko & Torres's smashing single "Home" this record is classy with house piano stabs, spritely synth melodies, and of course that dub a wub deep house bass that locks in the instrumental beneath Alex Joseph's triumphant vocals. This record certainly lives up to their name, rather loud and luxurious in such a good way oh and did we mention it's a free download? Oh yeah baby nab that here.

WAFIA - HEARTBURN (FELIX CARTAL REMIX)

Music, RemixErin Maher1 Comment

I don't want this one to get lost in the mix - it gives me the serious warm and fuzzies and I think it's can't be looked over! We only put up 3 to 5 songs a day on BB - so we are super selective about what goes up and from time to time something we love does not make it to our pages simply because there is no room! However, last week Felix Cartal dropped this amazing remix of "Heartburn" by Future Classic songstress Wafia and I can't let it go! Filled with bouncy disco beats over a bit of future house feels, Felix Cartal hit this one out of the park!  It's already hit #1 on HypeM - but I don't care - I just love it! Get into this one kids!
