AXEL MANSOOR - BUSY

Music, Original MixEricComment

The man is back with another melodic masterpiece. The Mansoor that is. Axel Mansoor, the talented singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist known for his flawless falsetto, catchy lyrical cadence, and glistening guitar licks just dropped his second single of 2019. The track, entitled simply “Busy”, is a chill pop record with sweet synths, sparkly guitar lines, and a message about being so caught up in the constant millennial-grind for success that the important people and things in life fall by the wayside. It’s not quite summer yet, but this tune is getting me primed for chill hangs in the backyard or at the beach. Definitely going on the daytime jams playlist! Go peep!

AXEL MANSOOR - BROTHERS

Music, Original MixEricComment

Axel Mansoor is just keeping the momentum going. Fresh off an Emmy (yes you read right) Emmy nom nom nom, and an epic selfie-led music video for 'Talk To Me' that was featured by Buzzfeed, Axel is in no way looking backward. He's grinding and working hard to make beautiful tunes to bring to our earholes, and he's most certainly done it again with 'Brothers'. This folky acoustic and vocal-led single comes as the last song on the newly released Somerset EP named for the street he wrote it on. The song has a heart wrenching story to accompany the heavenly tune. Axel speaking about the song:

"'Brothers' was never supposed to be on this EP. It was an older song I had hung up a while ago, loved but never brought down. In January, I received an email from a grieving mother who had recently lost a son — she explained to me that her other son had found the song and that it had helped their family through the pain. I’ve never cried so hard from an email. I’d never met her son and yet it felt like I had lost him too. I knew I had to make a new version, and I asked her if I could dedicate it to him. Well…"Brothers" is out now, in loving memory of Brody Stewart (December 30, 1991 - January 14, 2018)."

PLVTINUM - C'EST LA VIE

Music, Original MixEricComment

The energy of festival season is upon us, and my musical state of being has been thirsting for the summer jams. So when I came across this new tune from PLVTINUM I was immediately amped to get it up on the pages of BB. The production on this track is sonically great with top notch mixing laying the groundwork for a catchy pop hook that falls into a tropical style chorus with vocal chops and woah's that could brighten up even the dreariest of days. Ces't La Vie if you're unfamiliar, is the phrase meaning essentially "that's life" and the lyrics mirror a crazy night in Vegas. When shit hits the fan maybe it's easier to relax and just proclaim...C'est La Vie and let this song drift your cares away.

THUTMOSE - KARMA (FEAT. ALEX MALI)

Music, Original MixEricComment

Once upon a time ya boy went to a sacred place called the good ole Hollywood Bowl for a show with the one and only Pete Tong. We were there to rock out to some of the most classic Ibiza dance records accompanied by the epic Heritage orchestra. Funny enough I hear Pete announce "Please welcome Thutmose to the stage!" I looked around and was like whattt?? Is that Thutmose I heard? I had been hearing murmurings about this up and coming rapper, but was definitely surprised to see him take that kind of stage. He performed flawlessly, and I knew it was time to check out what all this Thut is about. Today I'm bringing you his latest, a soulful rendezvous of bobbing bass and laid back vibes. Thut gets rockin on the track both singing and rapping in between Alex Mali's delicately yearning vocals. This ones a chill jam and I think you're gonna love it.

PAPA YA - TUMBLEWEED

Music, Original MixEricComment

After a breakout 2017 that saw Papa Ya garner over 2 million streams, and head out on a 30 date tour U.S., tour we knew it was only a matter of time before we were going to hear new music. Flash forward and we now know what's next in this growing catalogue of hyper fun tracks. When you first hit play you might think the first 10 seconds of "Tumbleweed" is a journey away from the pop leaning Papa Ya production. But as quickly as you think that, a hard kick and Nate Merchant's vocals swoop in shining some light on the situation. The vocal chorus fills in with guitars, and light synthwork building into a fun drop with a brilliant trumpet melody that leads the away above a bobbing bass line. The guys have a way of finding these one liner lyrics that just get stuck in your head, "I'm drunk in the lobby and I really don't care" - too infectious. Bravo boys welcome back, and cheers to a fun filled 2018.

[PREMIERE] THOREAU - LIKE WE USED TO (FT. JERIS)

Music, Original Mix, PREMIEREEricComment

The man the myth the growing legend that is Thoreau continues to put together brilliant tracks. His latest "Like We Used To" featuring Jeris is a driving thumper that is equal parts dance floor heater and emotional rollercoaster. Coming off a hot 2017 which brought him a Trap Nation premiere of "Illusion ft. Tina Decara" and a signing to Spotted Records, now we're gifted with this lovely record. Jeris' vocals decry a love that has fallen from the good days accompanied by Thoreau's instrumental full of dramatic drones and a pumping low end that keeps you bobbing from start to finish. This is a terrific new tune from this camp and a great way to start off a soon to be break out year.

KASBO - ALDRIG MER (FEAT. TENDER)

Music, Original MixEricComment

Announcing his debut LP 'Places We Don't Know', Kasbo has dropped an incredibly fluid and pretty new single "Aldrig Mer". This record is a joy to listen to and further cements his place alongside Odesza on their Foreign Family label with some of the best forward thinking indie electronic producers. Having trashed an initial version of the tune, the up and coming swedish producer had this to say about it, "I trashed the entire thing except for the guitar riff part along with the chords. From there I finished up the demo and involved TENDER, who absolutely nailed the emotional vibe without ever transcending into something cheesy which often feels like a risk when doing something "pretty.”" The line between beautiful and cheesy is often hard to ride in music. But given the eloquence of his previous couple singles and the depth of this new one it's easy to hear that Kasbo is really starting to come into his own.

SNUGS - FLOODED (FEAT. AXEL MANSOOR)

Music, Original MixEricComment

Guess who's back! After a hiatus of oh about 3 months (thanks for the reminder Erin...) EJ's back in the buzzzy building! Phew I apologize for my absence things have been pretty busy. HOWEVER, I'm very happy that I get to make my return to the BB pages with this gem of a record from the mysterious yet cuddly newcomers Snugs. Now I have a special place in my heart for this act because I recently heard about an album's worth of their unreleased music, and I can definitely tell you there's a lot more fun in store.

A bit of back story - Proximity, yes the youtube mega channel, recently inked a deal with Geffen A&M to start releasing records, and this fluffy act right here just so happens to be newly signed to the growing label. Leading the charge with a character instead of a backstory this act has decided to let the branding and music do the talking, and boy does it with this record "Flooded". The record is infused with light synthwork and percussion that keeps things airy and bright underneath Axel Mansoor's heavenly falsettos. It's rare when the music and presentation all come together so perfectly and that's exactly what we have here. Don't snuggle up too quick and fall asleep on this act, they're definitely here to stay.

ERIC SHARP - TAKE THIS TIME FT. ZHAO

Music, Original MixEricComment

Eric Sharp has returned with a chill new original "Take This Time" with repeat vocalist and indie soul singer Zhao. We posted their last record "The Thirst" and ya know when you've got a good thing going you repeat it. This is a mellow house tune that's relaxing and breezy to listen to. Eric says about the tune, “'Take This Time’ speaks directly to the reality that individual closed mindedness is literally costing human lives on a consistent basis. If people could open their minds and hearts more, a much better world is possible. Currently we seem stuck in cycles of hatred and otherness. The song is imbued with a deep sadness around this fact, and a more general poignancy around missed opportunities and unrealized potential,” Incredible truths that we can't promote and re-iterate enough, and oh by the way also pairs perfectly with fantastic music. This tune is the first single from Eric Sharp's forthcoming EP "Eric Sharp and Friends" set for release in early 2018.
