The Big Sleep

It happened again lastnight - the reason I go to shows 4/5 nights a week and endure countless mediocre bands, searching for something to "blow my hair back" - and I found one!  The Big Sleep kicked so much ass, I actually left the show energized and feeling awesome, which is what live music sould do for you!

Brooklyn, NY based trio, comprised of Danny (guitar), Sonya (bass) and Gabe (drums) The Big Sleep formed somewhere around 2003.  Danny and Sonya share the limelight as front man, but watching Danny dance.....fuck...that kid feels it!! I could not take my eyes off him (for many reasons) while he thrashed and danced around the stage.  This is a must see band, and they just released a new album called "Nature Experiments" that you need to buy!!

Video: Father John Misty - Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings

Josh Tillman calls his new band Father John Misty - and I think that is pretty amazing! He has spent the last 4 years or so playing drums in Fleet Foxes, but now he has broken off to be on his own, and this is a good thing! Sup Pop has already picked him up, and will be relasing his first album called "Frar Fun" on May 1, 2012! We will also see him at SXSW this year, and yes, you will also see him at my showcase! For now, enjoy his video for "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings"

Here is a remix by Jaymo & Andy George of "Morning" that I very much enjoy listening to! March cannot get here soon enough!

Housse De Racket , which translates in English to ‘tennis racket cover,’ are Victor Le Masne and Pierre Leroux. The two are highly sought-after musical collaborators with impressive resumes; they’ve worked with the likes of Chilly Gonzales, Phoenix, and Air.

Following their tour last year with French pop trio Yelle, and the critically acclaimed release of the debut album Alesia on Kitsune/ Cooperative/ Downtown Records, French duo Housse de Racket announce a month-long North American Spring tour that kick off at Austin’s SXSW, and ends with their first ever performance at Coachella Festival.

In honor of their American return, they’re making their latest remix of Chateau available via the Discobelle premiere HERE as a free download to their fans.

Crazy about this emerging artist - Jethro Fox! This little cutie is from Liverpool, UK so he already makes my heart melt by being British!! :-) I have talked about his song "Before" that I just love....it's on regular rotation on my playlist.

Jethro has just released a new live video for this song....it's cool!

You can download "Before" on the Jethro Fox bandcamp for free HERE

Tango in the Attic - Swimming Pool

This band I just confirmed for my SXSW party, and I have to say I am super excited to see them live! Tango In The Attic are a four piece from Glenrothes, Scotland.....I love Scotland! I was there once, it rained and it was very green, and very expensive...but I didn't care!! I had the most amazing Indian food of my life, and I took a train to the last stop in the middle of no where, like on Trainspotting because I wanted to run with sheep!

Anyhow, love this band and love this video! I listened to their first studio release from 2010 and I didn't think it was all that, but from this track called "Swimming Pool" I like where the music is going, and I get the feeling they are awesome live! Sooooooo excited!!!
