NEW VIDEO: JAMAICAN QUEENS - KIDS GET AWAY

Erin MaherComment

Detroit duo Jamaican Queens has released a new video for its first single "Kids Get Away," off its debut Wormfood album, set for a March 5 release.  Directed by Andrew Miller and produced by Amanda LeClaire, the video is based on the song's concept about a girl who was violently assaulted while walking down the street in southwest Detroit.

The partnership of Jamaican Queens' Ryan Spencer and producer Adam Pressley was conceived in late 2011.  Pressley moved to Detroit to join Spencer in his former band Prussia, who and shortly after his arrival the group dissolved.  The two decided they worked better as a pair and spent that winter writing and recording Wormfood, which was mixed by High Bias Recordings engineer, Christopher Lazlo Koltay (Akron/Family, Dirtbombs).  The fusion of Spencer's melodies and Pressley's knowledge of underground music and production gave birth to their unique "odd pop" or as it's being called, "trap-pop."  Wormfood draws influences from southern hip hop, electronic, dub, downbeat, folk, New York City and Detroit as a whole.

NEW MUSIC: THE NEIGHBOURHOOD - LITTLE DEATH

Erin MaherComment

The Neighbourhood want you to touch them.....and listen to their upcoming single release "Little Death"!  This track will be available via iTunes tomorrow Dec 18.  It's dark and sexy, exactly how I like my music!  If you have not seen a show by this Los Angeles based band, you are missing out.  Better do that soon because from the way things are going, they are going to be massive!

NEW MUSIC: FLUME - BRING YOU DOWN (FEAT. GEORGE MAPLE)

Erin MaherComment

2012 was an exciting year for Flume, as he topped the Australian iTunes charts and played countless festivals in his home country.  He recently sold out his first-ever show in the UK, to the point where it had to be moved to a larger venue.  But 2012 has nothing on 2013, as the 21-year-old wunderkind producer takes his music worldwide.  Today Flume announced that he has signed with Mom + Pop and will be releasing his debut self-titled record in the US, Canada, and Mexico on February 19!  Check out his track "Bring You Down (Feat. George Maple)" above!

NEW MUSIC: STORY OF THE RUNNING WOLF - EP

Erin MaherComment

This is awesome!  I am so happy that I have friends who work with bands like Story of the Running Wolf because then I get to hear about them and get excited about new bands with great music!  Story of the Running Wolf is an electro duo based out of Los Angeles, CA.  A little bit retro, a little bit future, they blend 80's influences like Depeche Mode and Duran Duran with modern electro-dance elements, creating an infectious sound that's all their own.  After playing their first show at a rooftop party in early 2012, the band began developing a live show experience which has been described as a "John Hughes party on Neptune", replete with neon lasers, make-up, fog and feathers.  You can listen to their new self-titled EP above, and it is available for free download HERE!

NEW VIDEO: FRANCOBOLLO - BASKETBALL

Erin MaherComment

LOL!  Well I know one thing, this is exactly how I feel when I'm walking the streets of London!  Francobollo - indie punk/rock band from the UK, has just reminded me that sometimes feeling awkward while watching videos is OK, and that red headed Brits are really what makes the world go round......well......at least my world!  Francobollo are making the rounds in their ancient city, and apparently their live show is quite good!  Their latest release, Basketball EP, is out now and you can listen on Spotify.  I can dig it!

NEW MUSIC: EELS - NEW ALPHABET

Erin MaherComment

Alright, today is going to be a good day!  I know this because when you start your day off with a new track from EELS - it's kinda hard to not have a good day!  I first saw EELS at the Bridge School Benefit Concert at Shoreline in San Jose in 1998!  I can't believe it's been 15 years!  Since then I have seen them many more times, and it is always something very special!  Now they are about to release a new album called Wonderful, Glorious on February 5.  Here is a new track "New Alphabet."
