BEAUTIFUL BUZZZ

NEW VIDEO: LAZYEYES - WAIT

Erin MaherComment

Brooklyn young guns Lazyeyes announce the release of their self-titled, self-released debut EP out January 26.  The four song disc is full pop-hooks sure to leave you dreaming in space from start  to finish.  Take note from the premiere of the group's first music video for "Wait" on IMOSE.  Self-described as "a hover board adventure through the cosmos," the video by artist Kevin Li is chalk full of evil aliens, a space shootout, exploding planets and plenty of psychedelia - it's truly an astral day dream.

Don’t let the name Lazyeyes fool you - this young project is keenly aware of its contemporary music landscape.  Of course it doesn’t hurt to be immersed in the notoriously fertile Brooklyn DIY scene where, committing to the band in the summer of 2012, Lazyeyes has grown tremendously in a little over six months.  Playing shows around town with the likes of Oberhofer, Total Slacker and Generationals, the project is beginning to make waves at home and abroad.

NEW VIDEO: SUUNS - EDIE'S DREAM

Erin MaherComment

Every time I hear about Montreal, Canada - I think about what an amazing and beautiful city it is, and that some of the greatest music in the world is made there!  That place is magical!  Today Montreal band Suuns released a new video for the first single "Edie's Dream" off their second album Images Du Futur - due out March 5 via Secretly Canadian.  Take a look....it's dreamy!

NEW VIDEO: TY SEGALL - THANK GOD FOR THE SINNERS

Erin MaherComment

After watching this video, I am creeped out for a number of reasons.  Not only does Ty Segall look like a bad version of a glam rock star from Velvet Underground, there are body parts everywhere....up close.....like feet!  I hate feet!  And all those fingers everywhere, man that made my skin crawl.  I don't like people I don't know touching me, that's why you will mostly find me at the back bar during shows and avoiding over-packed clubs and dance floors.  However, it's Ty Segall and I would expect nothing less - he's brilliant!  Take a look at his new video for "Thank God For The Sinners" and make your own call!

NEW MUSIC: STUBBORN HEART - NEED SOMEONE

Erin MaherComment

Stubborn Heart - aka Luca Santucci & Ben Fitzgerald - set ears buzzing last year with a (then unidentified) white label 12” and followed it up earlier this summer with the ‘Need Someone’ EP (on Kaya Kaya records, an imprint of XL Recordings).  Now signed to One Little Indian, their full length eponymous debut, Stubborn Heart (out in the US on March 5th) reveals a stunning and surprisingly poignant electronic soul record.

Hailing from London & Oxford respectively, the duo’s debut emotes heartbreak over broken beats and dark, atmospheric space. The clean, ghostly production coalesces with Luca’s mournful vocal to positively ooze a bruised melancholy.

Equally inspired by 80’s and 90’s electronic music and 60’s and 70’s soul music (the album includes a cover of Reuben Bell & The Casanovas rare soul 45 It’s Not That Easy), Stubborn Heart never lose their passion for good pop music – everything from Hall & Oates to Timbaland. Recent comparisons have been drawn with the XX, Sbtrkt, James Blake & Four Tet.

NEW VIDEO: LULS - NEVER LET IT GO

Erin MaherComment

LULS are back in 2013 with a new single "Never Let It Go" and video to boot!  I love this band so much - they were one of my most favorite new bands of 2012 and I have a feeling 2013 is going to be explosive for this London UK based outfit! "Equal parts soaring croons and kinetic rhythms, the video offers a glimpse into some strange dimension in which three men can rock with the strength of an entire armada".- Noisy

NEW MUSIC: PYYRAMIDS - BRIGHTEST DARKEST DAY

Erin MaherComment

On April 9, indie label Paracadute will release PYYRAMIDS' full-length debut, Brightest Darkest Day. The band - helmed by Tim Nordwind from indie rock band OK Go and Drea Smith of the electro-pop outfit He Say/She Say - will preview material from the forthcoming album at SXSW. They will celebrate the album's release with a street week East Coast run followed by a U.K. tour. Dates will be announced shortly.

"PYYRAMIDS's music is a perfect combination of catchy songwriting, vulnerable lyricism and pop," said Interview. "  "Their reverberating textured beats and slightly gloomy, Joy Division-style attitude are all topped off with strangely catchy hooks...we didn't know whether we should brood or dance when we first listened," observed NYLON, which premiered Human Beings. "But soon we realized that we didn't have to decide. And if you ask us, it's exactly this two-sidedness that makes PYYRAMIDS so damn cool."
