NEW VIDEO: THE FAMILY RAIN - CARNIVAL

Erin MaherComment

A family that plays music together stays together - at least that's how it worked for my family.....but then look at The Black Crows and Oasis.  Still, this band of brothers seems to be staying together and this is a good thing because they are bloody brilliant!  The Family Rain are from Bath, England and they play some dirty rock-n-roll.  Delicious!  They have released a video for new single "Caranival" and you can also grab the track as a free download HERE

NEW MUSIC: HUDSON TAYLOR - CINEMATIC LIFESTYLE EP

Erin MaherComment

Hudson Taylor are my newest band crush - I mean it's alt-folk which is like something I never really listen to, but like I have said before - I love anything that is good, and Hudson Taylor are fucking amazing!  I came across them by accident; I was scanning through the official SXSW bands list and figured I would check them out, and OMG!  I flipped, double back flip round off back handspring flipped out (I was not a cheer leader, I was not I was not)!

So they are from Dublin, Ireland - they are brothers - and they are beautiful, and beautifully talented!  A deadly combination for this music loving girl!  I immediately contacted them to see if they wanted to play my SXSW showcase FREE NOW! in Austin this year, and they said YES!  My life was pretty much made!  Sadly, the Hudson Taylor boys are not going to make it to the states for SXSW after all, and I am now a very very very sad girl!

Hudson Taylor have put their latest EP up on soundcloud to stream called Cinematic Lifestyle - take a listen, it's nothing short than amazing!

NEW MUSIC: GLOW MARROW - BEAR CREEK

Erin MaherComment

Up and coming band, Glow Marrow is set to release their EP, Braver Days, on March 5.  Coming to us from LA, the duo Derek Coburn and Darin Green have been friends and part-time collaborators since high school.  After years of jamming out combined with a mutual flare for 80’s synth beats and electronic-instrumental fusions, Glow Marrow was born.

The band inspires an exhilarating sound, all their own. One that encapsulated the West Coast indie vibe, while adding a bit of a twist.  As of now, Glow Marrow is touring around California. Hitting up venues around LA and the OC.

NEW MUSIC: TWIN TERRORS - SLEEPLAND

Erin MaherComment

Having friends that make great music is the best part of my life!  I would say I have no musical talent and that's why I work at labels, manage bands, put together shows, and have this here blog - but others would disagree.  My talent lies in knowing and finding the best of the best in new music - and from time to time I sometimes kill it at karaoke!  One of my little angels and a person on my top 10 list of most favorite people in the world, Darren Robinson, has a fun new project called Twin Terrors.

You may know Darren best as guitarist extraordinaire from Phantom Planet - at least that's how I met him so many years ago (10??) when he was a rock star on tour and I was a marketing rep at Sony.  Twin Terrors mixes that great Phantom Planet pop feel with indie rock tones and a danceable beat.  Most recent single called "Sleepland" features Liz Nistico (of Holychild) on vocals who also took part in writing this little pop gem - I LOVE IT!

You can grab this track as a free download - I suggest you do so immediately!

ALBUM STREAM: THE BEAR & THE SEA - TREES LIKE YOU

Erin MaherComment

The best part about my mornings is I get to sift through emails of new music, and often I find a diamond in the rough.  The Bear & The Sea from Portland, OR is dreamy electronic goodness!  It is the perfect AM music, and as I sit here and drinking my first cup of coffee, knowing any minute my day is going to get bananas, I feel totally OK about it because of the awesome tunes coming outta my headphones!

Damon Sheeley, otherwise known as The Bear & The Sea, may be a nature boy, born of the Pacific Northwest – bred on the hazy gray waters of both the sea and the air and inspired thusly – but he was also raised on jazz, 80s synth-pop, Mama’s classical music, MTV, and poverty. This, my friends, is a standard formula for what you’ll hear in his music – bombination, woozy soul, pure Oregonian modular muddiness, and rock-steady gumption.

The Bear & The Sea dropped a new album today called Trees Like You which you can stream above.  If you feel like picking up this record and naming your price, head over to his bandcamp page and get you some!

NEW MUSIC: GENTLEMEN - SAILOR (OF THE COSMIC ARC)

Erin MaherComment

This band is so new it almost does not exist!  Having launched their Facebook page in 2013 and having had their debut live show on January 23 - you could say this London outfit Gentlemen have some dues to pay.  However, lately there have been so many bands that have a great amount of buzz before they put anything out or even play a live show, and it almost does not seem fair....... but I digress.  It could go either way, they could be the coolest thing ever and it's all well deserved, or the hype can ruin their career (does anyone remember Viva Brother?).  The truth is I don't even know how buzzy this band actually is, I just kind of stumbled across this......

They already have a video for their single Sailor (Of The Cosmic Arc) & I dig it!  Gentlemen may have the force on their side, and those of us who have worked with amazing bands that went no where may turn our noses up - but if there was not something going on here, why would I be posting this video?
