Nate is a young musician living in the bay area who has something to say about Haerts!

Haerts is a band on the way to the top. Their first single "Wings" — produced by Jean-Philip Grobler (aka St. Lucia) — was a blog sensation.  The song climbed the hypemachine charts and helped Haerts land themselves some of the most sought after showcases at SXSW.  The band is now embarking on a national tour in May and working on their debut albumalbum, due out later this year on Neon Gold / Columbia Records. Haerts’ is a tribute to the influence blogs have on the modern music scene.

Their debut music video is another concrete step on the road to crossover success. Directed by Emily Kai Bock (Grimes, Grizzly Bear) the video chronicles a young boy capturing his surrounds with a old 8mm camera.  The artistry is a perfect accompaniment to Haerts, tastefully vintage enough to be comfortable but still new and innovative.  This band is definitely one to watch as the year unfolds.

NEW VIDEO: EIGHT BIT TIGER - AN EDUCATION

This has officially made my day!  Influenced by 70s funk and 80s synth-pop, Eight Bit Tiger is an electronic dance duo from Stockholm, Sweden.  While the project started in Chicago in 2011, brothers Erik and Kent Widman have been creating their beats in cyberspace since Erik moved back to Sweden last year.  Their new video for single "An Education" is fucking fantastic - how can you not be compelled to get on your feet and dance while watching this?  Widman is a dancing fool!  He is feeling this so hard - giving it out to all of us huge style!  I am in love with him!

NEW MUSIC: MUSIQUE LE POP - TURN TO SAND

I have a delicious new band for you today!  Musique Le Pop are a Norwegian indie/electronica group with a shiny new single that is sure to please your indie pop desire!  "Turn To Sand" was recently released via Cafe Superstar Recordings!  I am getting a great Kate Bush vibe through Elisabeth Thorsen dreamy vocals..... which I love love love!!  Stream the track above and check out some of their other songs HERE! 

NEW MUSIC; DARK COLOUR - THE GAMES ARE KILLING US

Dark Colour is a one-manned electronic, dancepunk, synthpop, electrohouse, whatever-the-hell-you-want-to-call-it project crafted and fronted by Randall Rigdon.  Music Under Fire cited Dark Colour's 2011 release, Memories, as being “an appealing mix between the chaos of Passion Pit and the ghostly club-feel of a slick Moby dance track like that of 'Go".  Don't expect to find that release available anywhere however, as a major music label had it pulled from retailers for containing the use of an uncleared sample.

Fortunately Dark Colour's new undertaking, Prisoner, doesn't contain any samples and effectively serves as a surprisingly striking introduction to the project.  Prisoner manages to swimmingly transition from indie-cred dance party hit-making to a more deeply personal, solo Carbiou-esqueelectronic exploration.  Stream the new single 'The Games Are Killing Us' and grab it as a free download.

NEW VIDEO: COASTAL CITIES - ENTROPIC

Here we go again - another fantastic band from London, UK indie label Once Upon A Time.  Coastal Cities are the epitome of great indie Brit dance pop - they are everything you want in your dance pop music and more!  Inspired by contemporary indie music, The Smiths, Joy Division and other 80's New Wave bands, (but also by dance music and the musical chemistry they discovered between each other) Coastal Cities set out to make music people like them could relate to and dance to.  These youngsters (all teenagers) are falling right into place with this new single "Entropic" - it's fun, youthful, tropical dance feel will get you dancing.  Brilliant!  The single drops June 3 via Once Upon A Time.  Check out their video for "Entropic" above!

My UK electro-dance band crush The Other Tribe are so awesome!  Yesterday they put up their Tribecast 05 mixtape DJ set - whatever you want to call it.... a taste of what they do live!  I say it's sick!  I have been dancing to this for 24 hours straight - well not really, but I wanted to!  You can download this set for free and impress all your friends with your amazing choice of songs at dance parties!  Thanks The Other Tribe!  ​

NEW MUSIC: TROPICS - DON'T YOU KNOW

It's time to go to sexy town!  UK electro pop band Tropics want you to listen to their new track "Don't You Know" from their new Home & Consonance EP out April 22 via Five Easy Pieces.  Awe yea....sexy town!!  This band is incredible!  I had the pleasure of seeing Tropics twice at SXSW because they played the Beautiful Buzzz showcase twice, kicking off the party as the first band to play, (which was more like a warm-up for them) and it was also their first US show ever, and then back again on the last night in the evening to play to a rowdy crowd - and they were amazing both times!  I love my new friends - and you should too!  Pre-order the Limited Edition 12" Vinyl with Two-Colour Screen Printed Sleeve HERE!  Get on it!
