NEW MUSIC: JAGWAR MA - MAN I NEED // EXERCISE (WHITE LABEL VERSION)

I feel like I have been taking about Jagwar Ma quite a bit these days..... maybe it's because they are fucking brilliant!  They are topping my most favorite band of 2013 list right now, every little piece of music goodness they are putting out into the world has been amazing!  I'm dying for a live show, and the Bay Area will be getting one later this year, so keep a look out for the tour announcement.  This new single Man I Need // Exercise is a "9 minute voodoo journey" - I am totally OK with this, and you will be too!     

NEW MUSIC: IS TROPICAL - DANCING ANYMORE

Is Tropical are back on the scene with a new single that has been causing some major drama on the interweb.  "Dancing Anymore" has the usual Is Tropical super edgy violent disco vibe that can make you get nuts on the dance floor.  However, it's the video that goes along with this brilliant new single that has people flipping!  I won't go into detail - see for yourself HERE!  Having toured the world in support of their debut Native To, Is Tropical (Dominic Apa, Gary Barber and Simon Milner) return with I’m Leaving - the band's new album for French record label Kitsuné, due out May 20 - which you can pre-order HERE!   ​

NEW VIDEO: THE 1975 - THE CITY

Well, this is one of my most anticipated bands to see this year.  I tried to get them on my SXSW showcase, but sometimes you can't have it all..... So, I'm still waiting for my live show because I have a feeling it's going to be top notch!  The 1975 come from Manchester UK, they are super hot., they will be on tour in the states this June with The Neighbourhood on the east coast, and we have a San Francisco date @ Popscene in July!  Though The 1975 formed as a punk band whilst still at school, there’s no straitjacket to their current sound, which veers between brooding art rock, crisp electronica, dancefloor R&B, helium hip-hop, shimmering balladry and 80s gloss pop.  Their debut album, due for release in Sept this year.  Check out their new video for new single "The City" out May 20 via Dirty Hit/Polydor.

NEW VIDEO: ANIMAL KINGDOM - GET AWAY WITH IT

London UK based indie pop band Animal Kingdom has something to say with their new video for "Get Away With It" - and I think it's pretty rad.  I have such strong opinions about the content of this video, but it's not that kind of blog so I will refrain - but I can say that I enjoy watching the rest of the world watching us fuck it all up.... and I'm done!

Animal Kingdom, please come back to the states right away!  I miss our quite walks on the beach, that night you hit my friend in the head with a drum stick, the dance floor at Popscene, talking British, all of the things we do together when you are in San Francisco.... enough already!  Come back please! ​

NEW MUSIC: STILL LIFE STILL - BURIAL SUIT

Almost four years removed from its Arts & Crafts debut, Still Life Still re-emerges with "Burial Suit," the first track from the East York, Ontario band's forthcoming sophomore album. Produced and recorded in Toronto by Alex Bonefant (Metz, Crystal Castles).  Grab this track as a free download HERE! 

“”Burial Suit” was always the starting point for our upcoming LP,” explains vocalist Brendan Saarinen. “We wrote it in the dead of winter after a year of demoing and scrapping a lot of songs.  It’s about breaking rituals and routines; how love can take you to strange, sometimes messed up places.  When we finished recording it, there was a weird vibe in the air, like we had started fresh but knew we’d always been there.”

Still Life Still will reveal more of its new album and touring plans as 2013 progresses. Meanwhile, fans in Toronto can see the band perform alongside Broken Social Scene, Feist, Bloc Party and more as part of the Arts & Crafts 10th anniversary celebration Field Trip Music & Arts Festival June 8.

NEW VIDEO: WALLPAPER. - GOOD 4 IT

I will admit I have not always been the biggest Wallpaper. fan.  The first time I met Ricky Reed - aka Wallpaper. was at my SXSW showcase in 2011.  I was still living in LA, but I had started to hear the rumors about this Bay Area artist, and his manager who was a great friend of mine told me to trust him and to put Wallpaper. on the bill.  So I did, and Ricky was the sweetest guy and I was really looking forward to his set.  As the saying goes, you can't win them all!!  Their set was not good, they knew it and I knew it - and it since then became a funny joke between Wallpapers. management and myself.  Since that day, I have seen some amazing Wallpaper. shows and know the guy is legit - and with this new single "Good 4 It" he is raising the bar.  Love the song, the video is fun, and you should for sure catch a live show!​

NEW MUSIC: BEACON - DRIVE

Beacon have released their second single "Drive" from upcoming album The Ways We Separate - out April 30 via Ghostly International.  It's beautifully dark, so pull out your headphones and close your eyes, and take it all in.....    ​
