BEAUTIFUL BUZZZ

VALENTINE & ROB ARAUJO - EMBRACE (FEAT. PATCHES)

Music, Original MixMike DooseComment

VALENTINE is a producer who knows what he’s doing and isn’t afraid to take risks with his sound. We’ve covered the virtuosic young sound designer before here at BB and are always eager to hear what he comes up with next. So when we heard he was releasing his debut album via Majestic Casual Records, to say we were excited would be an understatement.

The album, a concept album chronicling VALENTINE’s journey through love with his fiancée, is being released episodically and “Embrace” is the third episode. It also marks his debut as a vocalist. The track is a unique amalgam of different influences, incorporating elements of jazz from pianist Rob Araujo and smooth hip hop verses from rapper Patches. The resulting fusion is a style I’ve never quite heard before, it pairs VALENTINE's maximalist sound design with a musically sophisticated palette reminiscent of artists like Anderson Paak, Kaytranada and Smino.

Accompanying the release, you'll find lots of other compelling content like this creative music video and a mysterious website for the album.

Waxing poetic about the single, VALENTINE speaks about the track as if addressing his lover:

Sometimes, I just think about all the times we rode the train to see each other; all the times I sprinted from those doors to your arms and held you for the first time in weeks.

The pattern repeats as I come home from traveling and rush into the apartment to hold you again.

Sometimes, I get caught up in my insecurities; I know we both do. Truthfully, it was never our purpose to be perfect.

Sometimes, I wonder: “What is my purpose?”

The pattern repeats as I realize all I can do is embrace our individuality, the memories we share, and all the experiences that we have yet to discover.

FINNEAS - LANDMINE (AIRE ATLANTICA REMIX)

Music, RemixAlli LindseyComment

A beautiful parallel between two rising artists comes Aire Atlantica’s remix of FINNEAS’ “Landmine.” Built upon golden pillars, Aire’s treatment is an echoing chamber of tangible art. AM radio-esque vocals cascade atop spacious, ethereal undertones. As rustic tones expel themselves from the bottom layer of the piece, this rendition of “Landmine” is an easy listen with an acute attention to the technical side of production. This slackened joint is perfect for a day-off, or on. Join us on this graceful journey through a myriad of sounds and feelings.

EMMIT FENN - WHERE HAVE I GONE (FEAT. CHARLOTTE)

Music, Original MixAlli LindseyComment

Stunning, striking, robust, and riddled with soul, Beautiful Buzzz favorite Emmit Fenn returns with “Where Have I Gone” featuring the resilient vocals of femme powerhouse, CHARLOTTE. Combining the sounds of nu-soul with a buttery, house-esque production, “Where Have I Gone” is one of Emmit’s finest tracks to date. A tasty experience through dreamy soundscapes, the single is down right stirring, sexy. Channeling the sounds of the moon, the duet shares a deep and illuminating sense of synchronicity, shining light on a new wave of music. Delicately balanced with a signature, even palpable cadence, “Where Have I Gone” will be beaming through my speakers all week. Tune in with me.

ALISKY - TRACES (FEAT. IOLITE)

21 year old Finnish producer Alisky is making a name for himself from Nordic lands all the way to the United States. Known for pulsating grooves and carefully layered production, the youthful powerhouse is a bombshell of eclectic resonance. His latest joint, “Traces” featuring Denver-based songstress IOLITE, is embellished with the cadences of deep house, later flourishing into a tapestry of nu-wave electro-pop. Flickering moments of heavy hitting dance music production oscillate the fantastic vocal production of the ever-so-brilliant IOLITE. Invigorating, intoxicating, and dance-floor ready “Traces” is one worth blasting- volume up.

[PREMIERE] LUNA MAY - SILLY BOYS

Music, PREMIERE, Original MixAlli LindseyComment

July 6, 2018 marks the rise of a fresh new UK-based label, Absent Mind Records. The label’s debut release casts the Australian LUNA MAY, a striking flower child with a noticeably spooky aura. “Silly Boys” is a feminine anthem pollinated with strength and ease. LUNA’s female prowess dominates a smoked out beat that builds avenues of slackened sentiments and ancient philosophies. Confidently stitched together by the shaky hand of feminism, her temptation is palpable in “Silly Boys,” giving rise to a genderless sort of resilience. Lo-fi and bedroom ready, “Silly Boys” is succulent, drifting and lush, yet defined by moments of grit and backbone. A myriad of musical arsenals collide to create a sonic ebb and flow of emotions and allure. Righteously witchy, LUNA MAY is setting the standard for Absent Mind Records, watch this space for more from the UK label.

DEON CUSTOM - WITH YOU

Music, Original MixSara NatkinsComment

The San Holo-founded bitbird label has been on a serious roll since it was started in 2014. They've been signing young musical visionaries left and right who are indisputably paving the path towards the future for electronic music. An example of one of these power players is Dutch artist Deon Custom. He recently released his single "With You," which comes with much variegation as it pulls elements from multiple genres such as chill, indie, lofi, experimental and electronic. The song gives way to a psychedelic journey as it delicately weaves intermittent waves of both dissonant and constant harmonies through a down-tempo beat and a spectrum of glitchy synths. To say the least, I'm definitely looking forward to hearing what else Deon has in store for 2018.
