Fall has officially kicked into full gear, and there’s no better way to welcome the crisp air and autumn colors than with a brand new groove such as the latest from bitbird‘s first-ever signee, Duskus, and his latest release “Longtime.”
The mellow, beat-ridden song finds the perfect balance between subtlety and high-energy- a track you can pretty much bump in any mood, at any time and any place. Comprised of seamless transitions, gorgeous intercepting layers of vocals and chops, and a house-like rhythm that urges you to get up and dance, there’s not one thing about this song that isn’t to love.
But what makes this track so special in particular is that the London-based producer released the single on his very own label imprint Kaleido. Might we say, the prospects are looking mighty high for the newly established label if it continues to serve as a home and outlet for bops as massive as “Longtime”. Based on Duskus’ track record, we can only assume this will certainly be the matter.

QUINCY MUMFORD - THANK YOU
Original Mix, MusicCommentYou really have to hand it to musicians; it’s nearly impossible to fathom how difficult and painstaking it must be to come up with something so innovative that one can create a sound-based brand for their selves that’s identifiable. With so many styles and genrse having been exhausted already, and with trends coming and going so rapidly, it’s pretty hard for us to come across a song that we can defiantly say “THIS is different.” We can only assume that it takes a whole lotta thinking outside the box and a ton of patience.
That’s why when Quincy Mumford’s latest track “Thank You” was brought to our attention, we felt as if we had struck gold. Blending concepts such as old school, mellow hip hop riffs with pop electronic synths with the help of producer Jenaux, the two artists design something beautiful through the most unlikely of combinations. The production is woven together with Quincy’s voice, one that can achieve such a high pitch range that nearly resembles Prince’s very own. For us, “Thank You” is like a breath of fresh air, and we certainly can’t- and won’t- get enough of it.

URCHN - COMPOSURE
Music, Original MixCommentFrom the first 10 seconds of URCHN’s debut single “Composure” I was instantly hooked. Soft muted guitar plucks that drive with a sense of urgency. A nervous percussive shaker sound. A brief flutter that reminds me of a baby dinosaur. My early impression was that I was listening to something I hadn’t quite heard before, and it only gets better as the song continues. Making his debut via Casablanca Sunset, URCHN is the solo project of the Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and producer Max Greenhalgh. Max is also notably recognized for his work as the front man in the indie pop act Inspired & The Sleep amongst other projects and musical outlets. Cinematic in feel, with thought-provoking lyrics sung in a haunting half-falsetto, URCHN quickly weaves a web of contemplative discomfort on “Composure”. The thoughtful blend of organic and electronic sonic elements, syncopated rhythms, and vocal affectation come together to make this track one of the most compelling debuts of 2018 thus far.
