JVLY - MANY MOONS

Music, Original MixAlli LindseyComment

Kayle Butler is JVLY. Over the last few years the Australian artist has built a lush catalog defined by his thoughtful productions and distinct approach to hybrid electronica. His latest single “many moons” is a mellifluous offering with shimmering vocals and a simple beat to match. Penned by the ink of nu-soul and indie-electronic genre queues, “many moons” embraces the boundary-crossing nature of modern music. A dreamy listen with sentimental touches, this JVLY original is the first of many projects expected to drop in the near future. Tune out and get lost in the oceanic musings of JVLY and his atmospheric new cut “many moons” today.

THE XX - CRYSTALISED (NOKO REMIX)

RemixKelsey JamesComment

NOKO has done it again! This duo has slowly become one of my favorite groups to anticipate new music from. Their claim to fame kicked off merely three months ago with the release of their remix to San Holo’s “Life Me From the Ground.” The remix is close to 100,000 plays on Soundcloud alone, and their other previous remixes are following a similar route.

Their newest release is a remix to The xxs “Crystalised.” They stay true to the emotions behind the vocals and back it with powerful and equally as emotional synths, giving new life to almost 10 year old song. NOKO have the ability to tackle a song that people haven’t listened to in ages and effortlessly revitalize it.

Later this summer, the two have some original music in store, with their debut EP to follow.

ALIGN - SYMMETRY

MusicKelsey JamesComment

Chicago-based producer ALIGN released his debut EP Intertwine today, no small feat for a budding artist. The EP features 5-tracks, including 3 previously released singles and 2 new tracks. Let me be the one to say: this is truly some amazing indie-electronic work. From one song to the next, the EP flawlessly flows, continuing to draw the listener in further and further.

One of the new tracks from the EP is titled “Symmetry,” a song that immediately had me hooked from the first few seconds of the song. Utilizing ambient vocals and a conglomerate of percussion elements, “Symmetry” is enthralling from beginning to end. I expect a lot more from ALIGN in the next coming years, so definitely add him to your radar to keep an eye on.

DROELOE X SEM - FACING THE SEA

Original Mix, MusicSara NatkinsComment

DROELOE’s new single “Facing The Sea” is a dark and stormy track that builds on the electronic duo’s path towards a more experimental albeit, exciting route in dance music. The fresh tune marks the first release of a double-single series that the Dutch power players are putting out, showcasing music from artists they admire. “Facing The Sea” shines a light on the talents of fellow producer Sem, whom the bitbird signees have been supporting in live sets since last year.

The single is a thrilling journey for listeners of all music; taking them down a psychedelic road of sharp synths that are fused with the distinguished, addicting DROELOE style. Suffice to say, if you’re a DROELOE fan, you’ll inevitably find yourself continuing to be blown away by the duo’s fearless ability to explore unfamiliar musical territories and craft divergent sounds.

KHAMSIN - PLASTIC DREAMS (FEAT. KIDSWASTE)

Original Mix, MusicSara NatkinsComment

Even as we start to descend into fall, leave it to two artists who are setting some insanely high standards in music, Khamsin and Kidswaste, to make you feel like you’re only just reaching the apex of summer. The French musicians form an unparalleled chemistry in their brand new collaboration, “Plastic Dreams,” as they put their array of skills on full display.

The single is nothing short of an indie-electronic pop gem, one that will 110% be ingrained in your heads for the next month— or 10. It’s nearly impossible to listen to the song all the way through without simultaneously wearing a cheek-to-cheek grin across your face. Thanks to the track’s undeniably hooking lyrics, written and sung by Kidswaste, and innovative, bouncy and melody-rich production courtesy of Khamsin, we now have a soundtrack to help us get through the day while keeping our moods elevated.

LIFT ME FROM THE GROUND (FT. SOFIE WINTERSON) - SAN HOLO

Music, Original MixSara NatkinsComment

Man oh man have we been EAGERLY anticipating some fresh jams from San Holo. Thankfully the bitbird gods heard our prayers and gave us exactly that.

The Dutch producer came in real hot with not just one, but two singles that give us a bit of insight as to what’s to come in his next album. One of the two songs I want to shine a light on is “Lift Me From The Ground.” Featuring the heavenly, breathy vocals of Sofie Winterson, San’s production compliments her voice exquisitely. He infuses the song with the same energy that is signature to the San Holo brand, combining intoxicating melodies live guitar elements and scattered, sparkling synths. Any and all listeners will surely feel elevated as soon as they lend their ears to "Lift Me From The Ground."

DEON CUSTOM - WITH YOU

Music, Original MixSara NatkinsComment

The San Holo-founded bitbird label has been on a serious roll since it was started in 2014. They've been signing young musical visionaries left and right who are indisputably paving the path towards the future for electronic music. An example of one of these power players is Dutch artist Deon Custom. He recently released his single "With You," which comes with much variegation as it pulls elements from multiple genres such as chill, indie, lofi, experimental and electronic. The song gives way to a psychedelic journey as it delicately weaves intermittent waves of both dissonant and constant harmonies through a down-tempo beat and a spectrum of glitchy synths. To say the least, I'm definitely looking forward to hearing what else Deon has in store for 2018.

YE. - ALRIGHT ALONE (FEAT. JOSH JACOBSON)

Music, Original MixSara NatkinsComment

Steadily-rising young artist ye. has already bestowed us with two singles off of his anticipated EP. Recently, the NY-based producer finally unveiled 'Trails,' an 8-track EP, in it's entirety. While each and every track on the project retains such divergent qualities, we decided to highlight one of our top picks, "Alright Alone," and leave the rest for you to explore. Ethereal and floaty waves shape ye.'s recently-renovated sound and become the theme of the collaboration with singer/songwriter Josh Jacobson. Heavy influences from artists such as ODESZA, Slow Magic, and Petit Biscuit can all be heard within the synth work as it seamlessly intertwines with Josh's silvery vocals. As a whole, the EP delivers a style that is simply refreshing, and will assuredly have you hitting 'play' over and over.

MEDII, KRISTEN OLSSON - RUN DRY

Music, Original MixSara NatkinsComment

On gloomy days like the one we're experiencing over here in New York, we always need some sort of pick me up. For me, that's music. Luckily I stumbled upon this new little gem by SF-based producers Medii and singer/songwriter Kristen Olsson, titled “Run Dry.” Combining elements of pop, electronic and R&B stirred together with twinkling synths and impassioned chord progressions, this uplifting tune allows you to still see the sunlight even on the most ominous of days. As it elicits a rush of adrenaline through gripping build ups and a powerful chorus, it’s difficult not to feel elevated after a single listen to “Run Dry.”
