BEAUTIFUL BUZZZ

COM TRUISE @ MEZZANINE - SAN FRANCISCO, CA - 10.10.12

Com Truise at the Mezzanine. Great show. Great sound. The drummer.....he played over a drum track which got more and more apparent as the show went on. Kind of lame, but still a great show.

If you could think of one thing that would make an already amazing DJ better, something that could enhance electronic music and take it to the next level, something that is better than the best thing anyone anywhere has ever seen....what would it be?  I have the answer!  Actually, Com Truise has the answer!  It's a drum kit!  I know you all were going to say extacy.....but you are wrong!!  Drum kit bitches!

Com Truise blew my mind the other night at Mezzanine in San Francisco.  He played at my SXSW Sea Now! showcase 2012, and it was just him!  He was amazing then, but he didn't have a drummer with him - and me being me and not paying attention to every detail, had no idea he now has a live drummer play during shows.  I remember thinking to my self, "What the fuck is going on?  Why is there a drum kit on stage?  Isn't Com Truse supposed to play next?"  Once he they got on stage and the drums dropped for the first time during "Open" I then realized that this was going to be sick (see clip above)!

There are other electronic groups and DJ's that use a live drummer, obviously, but Com Truise with a live drummer is a whole different story!  Even though I felt like I was floating through each song during the set, the drums kept my feet on the ground and dancing like a crazy!  There was a drum track situation, but I didn't care and from the looks of the crowd, neither did anyone else!  This was the most fun I have had since I have moved to the bay area!  Com Truise = AMAZING!

He will be on tour for the rest of the month, and you can check out tour dates HERE!  Seriously, get out to a show!

POOLSIDE @ MEZZANINE - SAN FRANCISCO, CA - 10.10.12

Poolside is no stranger to us over here at Beautiful Buzzz - their album Pacific Standard Time has been on repeat for months.  Poolside are Los Angeles based duo Filip Nikolic and Jeffrey Paradise (but also have a 5 piece live band) and their sound has been described as "Daytime Disco."  Even though they come from LA, they have great support in the bay area and can pack many San Francisco venues.  I first saw Poolside at the BFD festival back in San Jose, and again at The Echo in Los Angeles, and again at Pacific Festival in Newport Beach, and every show is just as good as the last.

Mezzanine was the perfect venue for an electronic dance pop band like Poolside, it caters to electronic nights and DJs.  They were the second band to play, however it was a late set (around 11:30), and the place was buzzing with excitement!  Once the music started the dancing never ended!  They played hit songs such as "Do You Believe" and "Kiss You Forever" - I was especially pleased to hear their cover of Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" as well as "Take Me Home."  The energy in the room was amazing, a regular fuckin love fest.  That is my favorite part of Poolside's music, it somehow brings people together in a positive way, and it is impossible to not feel awesome!

Poolside will be on tour for the rest of the month through the US - and I highly suggest getting out to a show!  You can check tour dates HERE!  Also, Pacific Standard Time has been one of Beautiful Buzzz's top albums of 2012 - so go download yourself a copy HERE!  Amazing show - we can't wait for next time!

WOLF GANG @ POPSCENE - SAN FRANCISCO, CA - 10.04.12

Last night was the San Francisco debut performance from Wolf Gang!  Personally, I had been waiting for this show for a while!  I have been a huge Wolf Gang fan for a few years now, and this was my first time seeing them live.  Popscene was packed!  The show had been sold out for days, and the energy in that room was crazy!

Max McElligott is a true showman!  His vocals were unbelievably good, he did not miss a note!  He ran around that stage like it was his bitch, and the crowd was going bananas!  They waited until the end of the set to play "The King And All Of His Men" and "Lions In Cages" which are the most popular songs, but waiting for them was not a problem because the whole set was amazing!

Amazing show, amazing band!  I will be going to every Wolf Gang show that comes through town in the future!
