NIGHTSEASON - NOTHING CALMS MY MIND

Music, Original MixMike DooseComment

Choosing a debut single as a brand new act is probably one of the most difficult decisions in an artist’s career. It’s the first impression, and you never get a second chance at it. Automatically and instantaneously you’re defining your sound and crossing your fingers in hopes that listeners have a meaningful reaction. Nightseason’s “Nothing Calms My Mind” is one of the more exciting and inventive debuts in recent memory, and it feels like this group already has a very developed idea of what their “sound” is.

Somewhere between the alternative/indie rock of bands like Kings of Leon and Sir Sly and the left of center pop stylings of groups like Electric Guest and Alt J, this new duo composed of drummer/producer Patrick Zeinali and singer/guitarist Jordan Caiola has come together as Nightseason to craft innovative yet infectious music. “Nothing Ever Calms My Mind”, which was released Friday by artist-friendly curation platform and label Noon Pacific, has already caught the attention of key industry tastemakers such as Hillydilly and landed on Spotify’s New Alternative playlist. An honest and introspective tune featuring Caiola’s gritty, mature vocal prowess and Zeinali’s slow-burning, forward-thinking production, it’s nothing short of an impressive first offering. What's more impressive is these dudes met over the internet and made an entire EP together over email while across the country from each other. We're eager to hear that EP and can only hope for more Nightseason soon in the weeks and months to come!

RESTLESS MODERN - THE DEEP END

Music, Original MixAlli LindseyComment

Chicago's indie electronic producer, Restless Modern  is back with "The Deep End," a striking and formidable indie-electronic track. What sounds like a full-piece band, is actually one multi-talented musician with the dexterity of four artists. In his latest release, "Deep End" we hear acoustic guitar synced with down-tempo, ethereal production. Placid and intellectual, this piece is window pane music as it showcases moments of raw indie-alternative resonance and romantically brooding vocals. "The Deep End" is poetry and rhythm seamlessly translated into audio. Thanks to mellowed-out drops and easy production, this project exudes a natural sense of placidity. Go deep with Restless Modern- stream it now.

LOST KINGS - DON'T CALL (SNUGS REMIX)

Music, RemixAlli LindseyComment

My ideal man has glowing, brooding eyes. He lets me hold him when I'm sad. My ideal man has a cute snaggle tooth that humbly accentuates his imperfections. He knows what it's like to be blue, so he's always empathetic. My ideal man is a musician- he is a small squishy blob called Snugs. His latest release is a charismatic flip of Lost Kings' "Don't Call." Combining elements of multiple genres, this remix has moments of contemporary future-bass, idyllic vocals, and vague aromas of tropical house. While preserving the integrity of the original track, Snugs simultaneously makes "Don't Call" his own. Its complexity is outstanding yet strays from the hectic while he blends polar tones ultimately executing the sum of its parts. This flip is sexy, alluring, and witty- an audible parallel to the life of the party. What's even more attractive than that present snaggle tooth- Snugs utilizes live instruments into his digital dexterity. With Ideal looks and an ideal sound, this dream boat is righteously disrupting the entire electronic music industry- volume up.

BRONZE WHALE - WARM

Music, Original MixAlli LindseyComment

Having already dominated their local music scene, Austin-based duo Bronze Whale is back with a daring new sound set to enlighten the masses. Rightfully titled, "Warm" their latest release features never-before-heard vocals from co-producer, Benny Alley. As a long-time advocate of the twosome, I feel confident in preaching that "Warm" is a breakthrough single saturated with individuality. Following no particular formula, this piece is novel, yet familiar. A potent feel-good energy is expelled from rising and fleeting sentiments composed of both up, and down-tempo production. Every single note, from the bass line to its intoxicating samples is poignantly clear. While the crux of the track is optimistic, there is a sense of unparalleled sentiment that tugs on the heart strings. The audible mantra showcased in "Warm" is daring, new, and takes us to a place outside of the mainstream. It's whispering touch is thunderous, lasting. Dive deep into this fantastic sound, and explore a cadence that belongs solely to Bronze Whale.

THE CHAINSMOKERS - YOU OWE ME (FAREOH REMIX)

Music, RemixAlli LindseyComment

In 2018, the world of music and art is in a state of a never-before-seen flux. Overalls are back, and Champion is officially "hypebeast;" with only 2 years until the roaring 20s, contemporary aesthetics are as distinguished as they've ever been. But groovy looks, and fresh new music reap dogmatic, and know-it-all-attitudes. One of EDMs most recognized names, despite their monumental success and fan-base, The Chainsmokers, are frequently criticized for lack of originality and dexterity. While the duo quite literally sets trends for the millennial generation, they can't seem escape the skeptical hive mind which surrounds their music.

Fortunately, New York-based producer, Fareoh just flipped The Chainsmokers' "You Owe Me" into a more dynamic, distinguished piece. With a whopping 31 million plays on YouTube, "You Owe Me" is actually one of the lesser known tracks from the smokers, which ultimately allows Fareoh's signature cadences to revitalize a seemingly "mainstream" track. This flip accelerates the tempo of the original, creating a space of adrenaline and bliss. Radiating bouts of synth expand across the foundation of the single, creating a spacious ebb and flow. Here, a song originally made for radio plays and arena tours effortlessly became an individualistic creation, with an underground EDM aroma. Both emotional and dance-floor-ready, Fareoh is solidifying himself as one of the years' most proficient producers/mixers.

ROBOTAKI - BUTTERSCOTCH FT. JAMIE FINE x FALCXNE

Music, Original MixErin MaherComment

Holy crap! Robotaki just went next level. Who is this? We've always supported this young Canadian producer, but this new track "Butterscotch ft. Jamie Fine x Falcxne" is a slice of super sexy R&B goodness! He's got my head swirling with funky beats and sultry vocals over love makin' rhythms ... it's a new side and we like it! I'm done .....
