Looking back on 2011 I realize that I have discovered a ton of new and exciting music which I hope I was able to share with all on the interweb. Here is my top five favorite albums of 2011! This list may not necessarily be the best of what came out in 2011 - but they are personal favorites of mine! Enjoy!
Danish pop greatness The Asteroids Galaxy Tour have released a new single, "Heart Attack" from their upcoming album due out January 31, 2012. I remember first learning about this band when their song "Around The Bend" was featured on an ipod commercial. I have been a huge fan since.
Looks like they will be touring the US in February - they put on a great live show and it should not be missed! I know where I'll be spending my Valentine's Day next year!!

I'm in the mood for a remix this morning! One of my all time faves - Cut Copy - have just released a remix of thier track "Sun God" by Andrew Weatherall. Delicious! You can also download if for free! Even better now!! Hopefully this starts your day off right!
Tonight is a night out with the girls! We ladies are going to hit the east side of LA to flirt with hipsters and see some awesome music. What better way to prepare for such a night than blasting Art Vs Science in my loft - loud enough to make the windows rattle! (My neighbors must be thrilled!!)
Hands down my favorite band of 2011 - favorite album "The Experiment" of 2011 - and my favorite people of 2011! Right now - "Meteor (I Feel Fine) is rocking my world...among some others I included below! So here is something you can listen to on your Saturday night!
I have mentioned this Aussie band before - and I am really excited to watch their career come to life! YesYou are a new indie pop duo from Brisbane who I believe just had thier first live shows ever as a 5 piece band last month!! I see they have a show listed in March in support of Neon Indian in their hometown, and most likely this will be the start of something great!
They have released a new single called "Be There" for your listening pleasure!
One of my best friends named Christine Kemp has a radio show on Mutiny Radio - an online radio station based out of San Francisco, CA. It's called The Youth And Beauty Birgade, and you can here her beautiful voice on Saturday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm - and she plays some amazing new music - from new artsis!!! So if you are tired of hearing Red Hot Chili Peppers, 311, Sublime, Nirvava, Blink 182, and all the other bands that have been around for over 20 years that keep putting out the same old stuff...listening to Christine will broaden your horizons!
A few weeks back I was listening, and she dedicated a song to her "soul sister" - which is me - and it was a track by Brooklyn, NY band Body Language. I loved it, so now I have been listening to the band non-stop! Christine has such amazing taste and is really on the cutting edge of up-and-coming artists, and knowing what is very cool! Thanks Christine for the song, and your SXSW wish just might come true with this band!
Canadian based record label Paper Bag Records have some cool free downloads right now that are worth getting your hands on! I am a huge fan of free music - and when you can get cool remixes, covers, EP's, B-sides, etc. it is a treat indeed! For your downloading fun - go HERE!!
Sometimes all it takes is 30 seconds of listening to a song to know that you are going to love a band. Happened to me again this week with a 5 piece from London called Spector. My friends at High Road Touring suggested them for booking onto my SXSW showcase, and you better believe I am trying to make that happen.
I spend most of my days listening to new bands and finding new music - but very rarely does something catch my attention like this - and I just love it when it happens!! They will be touring England in Febuaray, and have just been added to the line-up on Field Day in East London - June 22.
San Francisco band The Frail have a new video out for their single "Frenemies"!! Another awesome production from one of my favorite buzzworthy directors (and one of my favorite people to boot), David Dutton - this video takes you on a colorful journey through the lives of this bay area band.
What joy is mine - looks like they will be playing in San Francisco this Thursday at Popscene with The Hundred Days !!! I will be making the drive up because this is not a night to be missed - get ready to dance your ass off at this show!!
