BEAUTIFUL BUZZZ

NEW VIDEO: FINISH TICKET - LYING THROUGH YOUR TEETH

Erin MaherComment

SXSW is a breeding ground of making new friends - especially with musicians who play the Beautiful Buzzz showcase.  This year in particular I met so many amazing people and made some pretty great and beautiful and talented and amazing and fun friends - and how lucky am I that a group of them live in my city.  Indie pop bay area boys Finish Ticket stepped onto my stage and tore shit up, to the point where I asked them to come back to fill another open slot.  I mean, who doesn't like a band with a set of adorable twin brothers?  They hung out every day and drank my beer....I couldn't get them to leave really, and what a blast we had......awe yea SXSW!

Finish Ticket have released a new video for single "Lying Through Your Teeth" from the debut fill length album Tears You Apart, released a few weeks ago - which you can pick up on iTunes HERE!  Inspired by the likes of The Killers, Manchester Orchestra, and The Strokes, they formed in 2008 based on a shared ambition for originality and honesty in their music.  They’ve been fortunate enough to have shared the stage with bands like Black Keys, Phoenix, Broken Bells, Young The Giant and many more of their favorites.  I see amazing things in the future for Finish Ticket....watch the video, love it, buy the album, love it, love it!!

REMIX: MITZI - ALL I HEARD (DAVE ALLISON REMIX)

Erin MaherComment

Today I have decided to only talk about bands who played the Beautiful Buzzz showcase this year at SXSW in Austin; to follow up on what they have been doing since we partied in the great state of Texas only a few short weeks ago.  One of my most anticipated bands was Mitzi, and fuck my life if they didn't smash their set on that beautiful warm Friday afternoon.  I have been kinda obsessed with Mitzi ever since I came across their All I Heard EP back in 2011 - I have a torrid love affair with Australian indie dance pop because I believe it's the best in the world, brought on by touring with Art Vs Science and having my mind torn apart night after night during their sets....but that's another story.....

I found Mitzi meandering through the crowd, took them around back to check them in, and disclosed my undying love for their music...they were super cute!  We were running about 10 minutes behind schedule, but Mitzi was killing it and a dance party had ensued, naturally - so when they were told by my most amazing sound guy their set was done, I came in with the big boss veto and said fuck it, keep playing bitches (mostly because I was having way too much of a good time to let it stop)... and they did and it was amazing!  Definitely one of my top 5 most favorite moments of SXSW!  I can't wait for Mitzi to return to the states.... we'll do it all again!

A few months back Dave Allison remixed "All I Heard" by Mitzi that I had not heard, but today Mitzi shared it in their soundcould feed, so here ya go kids!!

NEW MUSIC: CITY SOCIETY - RIOT BLOOM

Erin MaherComment

Introducing City Society, a memorable mix of indie electronic dreampop and danceable beats, was founded in 2013 by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Richard Cupolo.  Recording in his own studio and in various studios around New York City, he embraces retro keyboards and guitars and melds them with compelling, personal and existential lyrics.  Coined by a friend during a post-show hangout, he chose the name as a reflection of his experiences growing up and living in the unyielding yet charming international city.  Cupolo is classically trained in piano starting at age seven and taught himself guitar during his teenage years.  Realizing the potential and freedom of controlling his own recordings' sound, he learned mixing and production around the same time, refining each artistry within subsequent projects like the ambient post-rock outfit The American Dollar.  City Society is his first effort to include polished and keen vocals mixed with modern beat delivery such as monome-based sampling.

Listen to the new single "Riot Bloom" out today - full length album drops May 15!

NEW MUSIC: LITTLE DAYLIGHT - NAME IN LIGHTS

Erin MaherComment

The quickly rising NYC trio Little Daylight, who surged through the blog-o-sphere this past winter with their electro-pop debut, "Overdose", have released their second track today.  Titled "Name in Lights", the airy down-tempo song introduces listeners to another side of the fast-paced synth poppers.  Little Daylight were one of the highlights of the Beautiful Buzzz SXSW showcase this year in Austin - totally incredible people and a fantastic live show!  Can't wait for them to come west!

NEW MUSIC: DELTAFOXX - BREAKIN' IT UP ALL RIGHT

Once defined as ‘vintage electronic magic’, DeltaFoxx met some years ago, played together in parties as DJs and now have joined forces. Popinigis has been anindie/shoegazer guitar man for some of the coolest Brasília bands and also one of the headmen of former Indiecent Music blog/party, while Quizzik is a former Red Bull Music Academy graduate and often works as an actor and soundtrack composer for underground films and plays.  Listen to their new single "Breakin' It Up All Right" above and grab it as a free download!

REMIX: HEARTS - WINGS (WILDCAT! WILDCAT! REMIX)

Erin MaherComment

While at SXSW a few weeks back, a number bands that played our Beautiful Buzzz showcase became some of our new BFF's - and one of those bands was Wildcat! Wildcat!  They showed up, they played a slammin' set, and then hung out for like hours....drinking my bear and making me smile.  They are some pretty awesome guys!  Wildcat! Wildcat! will be coming through the bay area with Portugal. The Man for two shows - April 11 @ Mystic Theater - Petaluma & April 12 @ The Independent - San Francisco..... I'll be going to both, now that we're BFF's and all....  They have just released a remix they did of "Wings" by HAERTS - it's rad!  Listen and love!
