This is a fun new record I just got sent over from the UK's Draper. The top line courtesy of the always lovely Laura Brehm on this track is fantastic, I'm digging the upbeat vibes and love the na na na's at the end. A total feel good tune and radio ready hit, this original has hornlike synths, guitars and melodic arps that all contribute to the happy love sprung emotions of the lyrics. Out on Monstercat you can pick up a copy on Beatport here.
Synth Pop
SUMif - WANT YOUR LOVE
Music, Original Mix1 CommentComing from Nashville country to synth pop is no easy matter, yeah chord progressions, lyrics and melody cross over well, but vocal styling, sound design, and production are paramount to creating impactful electronic tunes. I'd like to introduce you to Steph Wells aka SUMif. It seems she has made the switch pretty easily. "Want Your Love" is a fantastic record that has tropical infusions, dreamy guitar, chill synths and an in your face, infectiously catchy chorus. Hailing from San Fran this is just her second release and we're excited to be in on the beginning of this.

NZCA LINES - TWO HEARTS
Music, Original MixCommentA few years back I invited NZCA Lines to play my SXSW show - and needless to say he totally blew us away! Not sure how his recent activity slipped under my radar, but holy cow this new single is so so so so good! "Two Hearts" comes from his forthcoming album Infinite Summer out 1/22 via Memphis Industries, and it looks like he's added a couple ladies to the mix! I'm swooning once again, NZCA Lines has always had that effect over me, with his luscious synth pop sound made for the dance floor, this is as good as it gets .... aaggggagagga I love it! Swoop this one via iTunes HERE!
[PREMIERE] OWL CITY - FIREFLIES (SAID THE SKY REMIX)
PREMIERE, Music, RemixCommentGetting a thousand hugs from ten thousand lightning bugs sounds amazing, and thanks to Owl City we will forever have that image in our heads. It's a good one too, considering all the negative goings on in the world recently! We need some feel good warm vibes right now, and our next premiere delivers just that! Denver musician and producer extraordinaire Said The Sky has remixed "Fireflies" by Owl City for a tantalizing symphonic adventure to our feel good zone, combining swirly melodies and crisp vocals - this is epic sauce! Said The Sky has been dropping one brilliant tack after another this year .... we are swooning!! We also have a free download for you HERE, so swoop that up and think about those Fireflies!
EDEN - BILLIE JEAN (MJ COVER)
Music, CoverCommentAs we head into this holiday weekend to give thanks for all the things we have and for the people we love - this track brings together happy feelings of childhood memories and combines them with current happenings of life and friendship! The people who unexpectedly come into your life seem to make lasting impressions and form closer bonds because we are not required to like each other, we just actually like each other. Our boy EDEN released this fantastic cover of "Billie Jean" by the late great Michael Jackson - which hits close to home for most of us! I was having a discussion about this new track last night with one of the above mentioned kind of friends (who has seemed to swoop into my world very quickly this year) and we were able to grow that bond a little more because of EDEN. I was 5 when the original song came out, and it was 100% my jam! I told my friend that I had an MJ poster, the one with him in the yellow sweater vest, hanging on my wall and I used to kiss it goodnight .... every night! He then told me he used to sleep with a doll of Bell from Beauty and the Beast when he was a youngster - and I thought ... how perfect! Just another example of how music brings people closer! And talk about unexpected – this track is awesom! EDEN is brave picking a song with such an epic high bar! But .... just like that unexpected friend, he gives us all kinds of feels -- his synthy electro pop melodies among future beats vibes combined with his soulful vocals is something we actually like! You can grab a free download HERE! Happy Thanksgiving!

OYSTER KIDS - CREEPY (ORIGINAL MIX) + MUSIC VIDEO
Music, Original Mix, Video1 CommentJust in time for Halloween, new kids on the block Oyster Kids have delivered to us a deliciously "Creepy" new tune that is equal parts mellowed out synth pop with a hint of something sinister underneath. I'm a big fan of the harmonies, the synth soundscape and snappy snare throughout this one. "Creepy" is setting the bar pretty high for the newcomers and I can't wait to see what they have next up their sleeve. Already making waves on Hype Machine at #8 as I'm writing this, today they've also released a new music video to accompany this breakout single. Talk about creepy, the two guy and girl leads are precariously smiling throughout reminiscent of Chuckie Dolls, accompanied by mysterious bandage wrapped owners. The video certainly matches the name of the song, so go check out the music video here.
