FRND - MOVIES + IN YOUR DREAMS EP

Music, Original MixEricComment

Well the secret is out. The mysterious FRND has stayed ambiguous for months hiding behind the guise of a colorful Koala animation. But now with the release of his debut 'In Your Dreams' EP we've learned that FRND is none other than producer Andrew Goldstein, producer for a huge variety of big names including Britney Spears, Linkin Park, Robert Delong, Andrew Mcmahon, Celine Dion among others. I had the pleasure of seeing his debut live performance here in LA, and man I can't wait to see where this train keeps going. Our other writer Mike and I kept saying during his show that this music somehow brings us back about 10 years to the myspace days of Never Shout Never, Postal Service, and Hellogoodbye with the feel of indie rock meets electronica. Regardless the music is impeccably produced from start to finish and this latest single "Movies" is spot on again. With youth like exuberance and even children vox samples in the beginning FRND is definitely tying his music to that aesthetic, and we're totally ok with that. As the chorus drops in you can't help but bob your head. We hope there will be many more shows ahead as the EP continues to garner even more support across the web.

[PREMIERE] JANELLE KROLL - BARRICADE (TYZO BLOOM REMIX)

Music, PREMIERE, RemixEricComment

Janelle Kroll has been crushing it lately. "Barricade" was a really cool tune with such an infectious wave of a melody on the lyric "Barricade" that just makes you smile. So I was pretty excited when I got sent another Tyzo Bloom remix of Janelle ripe for our ears. This remix starts rather ethereal with child like bells and piano whisking us away as we're launched into the familiar tropical marimba tones on top of bobbing sub. Tyzo makes ample use of vocal warps throughout the remix that sound not too distant from whistles. The original was light, even jovial and Tyzo has simply enhanced those feelings while making us feel warm inside.

LISTENBEE - CHILDREN FT. COSMOS & CREATURE

Music, Original MixAlli LindseyComment

Whether you are wearing all black and producing sick beats in LA, or blogging about indie-EDM from your hometown library- we really are just children. Listenbee's latest single, a collaboration with duo Cosmos & Creature, "Children," brings you back to a time when there was no rent to be paid, and no heart too vulnerable. This optimistic track pulses with a "whispering womp"- electrifying your senses while straying from the hectic. It's vocal energy is a divine combination of future R&B and indie reverb. I'm usually not a fan of the lyrical "la la la" filler, but Children uses this tactic appropriately, perfectly embodying the spirit and soul of a child. It's a beautiful, warming, and dynamic track. Listenbee, while under the alias Goonrock, helped produce the hit "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO. While the radio banger was a 2011 phenomenon, we're happy to see Listenbee making his way to the top of the hierarchy in the underground scene. Explore this cute, resonating tune on Spotify. Major shout out to this 3-fold collaboration for bringing me back to softer times.

STALGIA - SPIRIT ANIMAL

Music, Original MixEricComment

Lauren Day and Brandon Leslie, childhood friends turned band mates better known as Stalgia are not new to our BB pages. I was in a busy flurry of work emails when I got sent this record, and I was immediately removed from the doldrums of the office and whisked away to an exotic forest. This track "Spirit Animal" plus the fact that Electric Forest is happening right now has severely overloaded my fomo level. I digress...this tune is a sweet caress of strings and piano that saunters forward at a relaxed pace that should all but message the anxieties from your mind. Stalgia has found that sweet spot so far in their catalogue that is peaceful and beautiful yet still driving and impactful, no doubt due to Lauren's gorgeously breathy vocals and some deep sub. "Spirit Animal" is just heavenly and I guarantee will float you away if only for a fleeting 4 minutes 20 seconds. You can add this on Spotify here

GABRIEL BLACK - SAD BOY

Music, Original MixErin MaherComment

We've been known to stray outside the normal "electronic music" genre that we feature on BB from time to time - and today I've got a sweet little treat for ya! LA singer, songwriter and bedroom producer, Gabriel Black just released a new track "Sad Boy" that's 1/2 alternative pop and 1/2 emo, and I'm kinda crazy about it! This debut single is a shining glimpse into what's to come from this newcomer, who also happens to be the creative force behind his visual brand, drawing and curating every piece to tell his story! Pretty cool!

HOTEL GARUDA - TILL IT BURNS OUT FT. VIOLET SKIES

Music, Original MixErin MaherComment

My BB boys are back at it again! Hotel Garuda are kinda our faves! Need we even have to tell you how yummy this new track is, or are you already thinking ... oh it's Hotel Garuda so it's gonna be fire (because that's what I thought). This LA duo is switching things up a bit and giving us a very indie pop vibe with 'super dank future beats that I'm feeeeeling! They nailed it once again .... You guys can buy/stream this bad boy HERE!

SIOBHAN SAINTE - BURN IT DOWN

Music, Original MixEricComment

Sometimes we have the privilege of getting in early on certain acts, and we have high hopes for this budding indie pop songstress straight out of New Zealand. Siobhan Sainte is her name and if she keeps laying records like "Burn It Down" upon us, then we're sure you'll be hearing about her more. Produced by Andy Rosen (Meg Myers, Ofelia K), “Burn It Down” symbolizes the beginning for the 21 year old singer, and showcases her inimitable vision and talent fully devoid of cliché.  Represented by her love of film noir, haute couture and pop culture, Siobhan’s songs have a vintage feel of the 80s and 90s, but are modernized with a pure adrenaline rush.

EMMIT FENN - 1995

Music, Original MixEricComment

Indie electronic darling Emmit Fenn is back with another hauntingly chill original that's here to float you away to a melting cascade of dreamlike soundscapes. Leaning heartily on longing piano the singer/producer meanders a tuned vocal melody around moody synths and sweeping saws into an emotionally raw effort that's as enjoyable as it is emotional. Additionally Emmit has launched a really cool new website that has digitized his musical journey so far. Definitely check that out at http://www.EmmitFenn.com, and don't feel too afraid of letting a couple tears flow down your face listening to his latest "1995". AXEL MANSOOR - OUT OF MY HEAD

Music, Original MixEricComment

Wow 2 for 2 so far from Axel Mansoor - who's been lighting up the interwebs so far with his pair of sweet releases "Wasted My Love" and now "Out Of My Head". His fresh take on falsetto infused indie pop is showing us just how a marriage of heady lyricism and clean electric guitar can infuse into a musical breath of fresh air. The song is blissfully dynamic while still retaining enough punch that keeps you firmly locked into the quick 3 minutes of music. These are the types of tunes careers are built upon. Go add this to your favorite chill Spotify playlist here.
