Taking the cadence of modern hip-hop and blending a sensual, feminine prowess into its roots, VenessaMichaels and Holly just teamed up to drop the week's freshest track. "Real One" features Bronx-born experimental MC, Outlaw the Artist and female vocalist, Effy. Combining rhythm and blues with down-tempo, avant-garde production, "Real One" is punctuated by urban influences and unfettered steeze. The girl power is poignant in this piece, as it radiates a coolness only manifested from the creative energies of female collaboration. Outlaw the Artist rounds out the track while he spits buttery bars over the sensually chopped production. "Real One" is an element of its own- chrome, fluid, and atmospheric with a complete sense of identity. Smoky and chic, this is a piece you don't want to miss, catch us bumpin' this all weekend.

VINDATA + SKRILLEX + NSTASIA - FAVOR
Music, Original MixCommentPolishing off my work week with an unsuspecting, yet magical collaboration. Vindata, Skrillex, and NSTASIA just teamed up to drop their single, "Favor." The track combines three artists who excel in their respective genres. Skrillex, who is noted as a legendary heavy-bass producer slowed things down a bit on "Favor." The track yields high-frequency hype aromas, sewn together with throaty, passionate, R&B vocals. It is both soothing, and moving with it's pleasantly contradicting production. The track's drops are unique in that instead of dropping down, and deep, they rise with effervescence. Above all, in the simplest terms, the track is pretty- it has a glowing resonance, with an approachable energy, yet remains distinctly original. The three parties involved are blazing trails in their solo careers, but have proved that genre's are not concrete, and seemingly unusual collaboration is nothing short of novel. Stream it on Spotify.
"This song is really special to us. we've admired and respected Skrillex since the first time we heard Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. He became our homie over these last few years and helped us realize our full potential and endless possibilities. This collab along with NSTASIA was just meant to be. we're truly grateful to be able to share this with you. Peace." -Vindata
TEFLON SEGA - BERETTA LAKE FEAT. SAINT JHN (LISTEN2LIRI REMIX)
Music, RemixCommentFive months ago, Teflon Sega collaborated with rapper SAINt JHN to release a "bizzare&b" single- "Beretta Lake." As his single continues to top charts and impress critics, Teflon Sega is handing off the track to other talented producers to further capitalize on its artistic success. Just four days ago, Listen2Liri accepted the role of fearlessly flipping it into a ethereal remix. Although the three artists involved in this particular remix didn't work together on the original release of "Baretta Lake," the synergy of the trio is unstoppable. With beautiful transitions, this hazy flip is truly something out of a dream- taking you somewhere very, very far out. "Beretta Lake" is riddled with poetry far beyond its jarring lyricism- it is a musical prose that blossoms with every note. Part of me wants to add it to my "sad girl, rainy day" playlist, while a more optimistic part of me wants to add it to my "dancing with no pants on, with a bottle of a wine" playlist. Simply put, it's a song for many occasions- both euphoric and melancholic. With this remix, Listen2Liri exceeded expectations and executed his take on an already brilliant single. Add this indie-electronic flip to one of your "dancing with no pants on" Spotify playlists, as these visionaries continue to dominate charts.
UKIYO - CALLING (FEAT. YOUR GIRL PHO)
MusicCommentI swear they must offer electronic music production as a course in Australian high schools or something because the amount of talented producers making tunes in the land down under these days is seriously nuts. 20-year-old Timothy Arnott, who goes by the name Ukiyo (which makes me think of manga and Blue Eyes White Dragons - anybody?) is certainly one in the upper echelon of this group of youngsters from the South Pacific. His latest track “Calling” is poised to be a breakout single for the artist. Rich layers of wavering synths, minimalistic percussion, and delicately yearning, almost R&B-inspired vocals from Young Girl Pho (which is also an awesome name might I add) come together to create some seriously vibey vibes. Ukiyo is calling y’all; don’t let this one go to voicemail.
ELI WAY & IAN EWING - HAPPY WITH U (FEAT. NAJI)
Music, Original MixCommentIt's been a hell of a week. One full of hope, and excitement...despair and frustration. I was encouraged by some of the responses to our new president elect and discouraged by others. Respect is the most important thing to me and while many have been surprised and confused about the results we have to continue forward and overcome adversity. Life is full of setbacks, but it's about how you respond to those setbacks that will prove the real test of your mettle. Having said that, the real reason I'm divulging into such a rant is that I want everyone to just RELAX. You'll never solve anything upset so I'm providing you with this musical dose of chill to bring us back to square one. Eli Way just recently came onto my radar and oooohhh I'm soo glad he did. This amazing future soul producer has put out some absolutely amazing records like "If It Makes You Happy feat. Cehryl" and "Just Wanna Love You". I promise you this guy is ready to explode and I'm super excited to provide the introduction! Dive into his newest "Happy With U" co-written with Milwaukee based soul producer brethren Ian Ewing featuring rapper Naji. Start keeping tabs because this is just the beginning.
