BEAUTIFUL BUZZZ

MEDASIN - IRENE

Music, AlbumSarah WestComment

It's no secret - Alt:Vision artist, Medasin, has emerged atop a slew of hungry new generation producers as one of the best and brightest. His long-awaited debut LP, Irene, is a crisp glimmer of honesty and subtle complexities that make up a truly magnetizing listening experience from front to back. As detailed in his interview with Billboard, Medasin dedicated the album to the the only person who helped him see light in a time shrouded by darkness: Irene. Paralleling that same sentiment, he brought in two vocalists, Kaz Moon and Sophie Meiers, who also resonated with his own personal journey, and are featured on the only two vocal-forward tracks on the LP.

"Work For You" feat. Kaz Moon is an easy going track sprinkled with Medasin's signature trappy beats, and laced with flutters that will make your heart do the same. Kaz brings an effortless rhythmic flow that is all his own and makes this song a sure fire stand-out on the album.

"Tired" feat. Sophie Meiers is the danciest select on this full-length masterpiece. Sophie's smooth yet longing vocal tone makes you feel each glowing key stroke that's threaded through the track, that much more deeply.

Do yourself a favor - take a stroll through the city, headphones in, volume up, and soak up the new-wordly sounds of Irene.

ILO ILO - ROLL W/ CARA BISHOP

Music, Original MixAlli LindseyComment

Taking the entire music industry by storm with an allusive swagger, ilo ilo returns from the shadows with their latest single, “roll” boasting the crisp, feminine vocals of Cara Bishop- lead vocalist of Austin’s sibling trio The Bishops. After receiving a cryptic message from the mysterious electronic ensemble, and embarking on a 48 hour scavenger hunt around New York City, Instagram user cjohnson1992 documented his exploration around the Big Apple as he discovered clues that would apparently lead him to a final resting place of artistic revelation. After 2 days running around New York City in a Black Mirror-esque fashion, the handsome Instagram user stumbled upon a USB that held ilo ilo’s digitally suave, robust single, “roll.” Leaving the pressure of the offical release on the NYC resident, the intentionally leaked track is a cosmic fusion of digital sounds and feminine prowess. Rising tides of algorithmic production dive into a bass-centric atmosphere radiating a uniqueness defined only by ilo ilo. These pioneers of electronic music leave us with one daunting question- who is ilo ilo? Join us as we become moving parts in their continuous riddle, bound by the mystic creation of music.

LIFT ME FROM THE GROUND (FT. SOFIE WINTERSON) - SAN HOLO

Music, Original MixSara NatkinsComment

Man oh man have we been EAGERLY anticipating some fresh jams from San Holo. Thankfully the bitbird gods heard our prayers and gave us exactly that.

The Dutch producer came in real hot with not just one, but two singles that give us a bit of insight as to what’s to come in his next album. One of the two songs I want to shine a light on is “Lift Me From The Ground.” Featuring the heavenly, breathy vocals of Sofie Winterson, San’s production compliments her voice exquisitely. He infuses the song with the same energy that is signature to the San Holo brand, combining intoxicating melodies live guitar elements and scattered, sparkling synths. Any and all listeners will surely feel elevated as soon as they lend their ears to "Lift Me From The Ground."

[PREMIERE] UNKNOWN CALLER - SAYONARA

Music, Original Mix, PREMIEREAlli LindseyComment

Colorful and melodramatic, Brooklyn’s own Unknown Caller returns with “Sayonara.” Inspired by the new wave cadences of the 80s, and intellectual conversations made across Taipei, Seoul, Kyoto, and Tokyo, “Sayonara” is a melting pot of unique influences. Stitched together with a demanding melodrama, this tapestry of sounds is both familiar and far out. A careful algorithm of isolated, digital chimes work together to create a single framework of vibrant emotions. At the apex of bedroom pop, Unknown Caller’s vocals are distant, sequestered, yet distinctly encompassing. With a DNA of whispering theatrics, subtle vigor, and undeniable glamour, “Sayonara” is a charming venture of resonance. Paralleled with artwork from Taiwanese visual artist, Air Geometry, the single is an artistically sound conception. Tune in.

FRND - BEFORE U I DIDN’T EXIST

Music, Original MixMike DooseComment

Everyone’s favorite Koala-loving producer/artist FRND is back again with another deliciously glitchy and catchy pop banger. The title offering from his upcoming second EP, “Before U I Didn’t Exist” follows last month’s “Erase.” It’s what one might call an oddly humanist robotic glitch-pop opus, replete with FRND’s signature sugary vocal hooks, futuristic synths and emotional heart-on-his-sleeve lyrics. The production is so unique and crisp, and the catchiness of the underlying composition just makes this one addictive track. There’s even a RAD anime-style video accompanying the release which follows an odd pair of lovers as they embark on a post-apocalyptic adventure to escape Earth. I won’t spoil the ending, so you’ll have to watch it for yourself HERE. Keep your eyes on FRND because he may just be on the verge of blasting off.

ROBERT DELONG FT. K.FLAY - FAVORITE COLOR IS BLUE (CRVE U REMIX)

Music, RemixAlli LindseyComment

You’d never guess that NYC-based producer Jared Rapoza, better known as CRVE U, was a recent high school graduate starting college classes this fall. Weighing in at 17 years old, the youthful artist tends to a craft that is far from novice. His latest single is a remix of the animated Robert Delong’s “Favorite Color Is Blue” featuring K.Flay. CRVE U gives the electro-pop single an industrial treatment, brushing it with mechanized shades of chrome. Elements of grit blend like a yin and yang with graceful undertones. While maintaining a deep sense of respect for the original framework, this flip takes “Favorite Color Is Blue” to a new dimension. Tune in.

AKUREI - RIDE HOME

Music, Original MixAlli LindseyComment

A stunning blend of electro-R&B, and echoing downtempo pop, Akurei’s “Ride Home” is an enchanting showcase of sounds. With a subtle hip-hop aroma, the Aussie pioneer gives us the second taste of his forthcoming debut EP with “Ride Home.” Saturated with an easy energy, Akurei solidifies his signature cadence with this joint. The track unfolds with a seductive prowess that oscillates a radiating ebb and flow rhythm. A truly fantastic and fearless feat, Akurei is quickly becoming one to watch from Australia, to Europe, to North America- watch this space.
