Music, Original MixSara NatkinsComment

An emerging EDM/Pop duo based in Los Angeles, Syence is gaining global recognition for their unique blend of electronic bass pop music. Boasting over 50 million streams across platforms, the duo began making music in college and have since gone on to perform alongside the industry’s most prominent acts including Gryffin, Cash Cash, Arty, and Bingo Players. With their careers seemingly firing on all cylinders, the duo have made giant impressions for their newest single “a little bit bored.” Scoring over 21 million streams on social media platform Triller, “a little bit bored” is quickly becoming one of Syence’s most popular releases to date.  The single peaked at #3 on the Billboard Triller chart in December 2020 and has received incredible support on the platform. Contributing to the success of the track are the breathtaking vocals from singer/songwriter Ruuth whose resume includes co-writing the BTS track “Life Goes On,” which peaked  #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Ruuth and Quarterhead sent us the original demo for ‘a little bit bored’ and we were immediately obsessed. We knew we had to work on it. We've never been so impressed with a vocal. The story that Ruuth is able to tell in the short time throughout the song really resonated with us and made it so easy to build out the production around the vocal." - Syence

RUUTH - SO HEAVY

Music, Original MixMike DooseComment

Ruuth is a new name to the blog, but we’ve had backyard pool party hangs so we’re pretty much homies by now. She hails from a small island off the north coast of Germany, near Denmark, but was in Los Angeles recently for sessions with writers/producers (the likes of Emmit Fenn, Graham Candy, Younotus, Em Basa, and several other acts).

“So Heavy” is only her second original solo release, following “All About”, her impressive debut single. With it, she continues to establish her forward-thinking lightweight electropop sound, characterized by catchy, lilting, bouncy melodies and percussive, minimal production. Lyrically, she speaks on the seriousness of a toxic relationship, “Why does it have to be so heavy? Why do we drag each other down?” Ruuth tells a compelling story through her uniquely sweet and airy vocal approach coupled with relatable lyrics and memorable melodies. We’ll be keeping a close eye on her as she continues to share more foot-tappingly terrific tunes.
