DJ Alex Kennon has readily established himself as one of Europe’s most recognizable names. Since his early days, he’s been drawn to the arts and seems to know no bounds in terms of influence. After studying classical guitar and joining various clubs in Italy, he’s opened countless doors and curated support from steadfast partiers in places not limited to Ibiza, Switzerland, London, and Berlin. With his release of “Misdeed” from Oblack Label, we can see he’s set the tone for countless others; garnering the attention of German producer, Ninetoes. This remix of “Misdeed” builds on the original foundation of Kennon’s approach but elevates the favorite by increasing the tempo and introducing resonating sub tones, paired with mesmerizing synth sweeps. Appearing out of seemingly nowhere, Ninetoes has been gaining recognition from DJ’s such as Carl Cox, Jesse Rose, and Koze.

MICKEY KOJAK- GET OUT
CommentAustralian multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Mickey Kojak has a reputation of taking his fans on a wild ride. From nightclub favorites, to slow acoustic jams- he uses his creative eccentricity to cultivate a unique listening experience. Kojak is notorious for taking inspiration from both new and old technologies, which has led him down a stylistic path, which he can rightfully claim as his own. Releasing “Feel My Pain” as a young producer, he gained extensive national radio play, giving him a leg up. Having already put out two heavily streamed covers of Daft Punk’s “Something About Us” and Mac Demarco’s “Chamber Of Reflection” early in 2018, he’s moved towards his latest release, “Get Out.” This release comes courtesy of the dynamic duo, Alt: Vision and Casablanca Records. “Get Out” is a high-energy track with raw lyrics and soundscape to match. We’ve heard buzzz that later in the year we can expect some local and international collaborations, which are sure to elevate Kojak as an artist we can return to time and time again.

DETROIT SWINDLE- FLAVOURISM (FT. SEVEN DAVIS JR.)
CommentSince March, we’ve awaited Detroit Swindle’s new album, “High Life.” This release comes as the second full-length album for the Dutch duo since 2014. As devoted record collectors, Dales and Smeets maintain a DJ style that is one-off and eclectic, reflecting their love for many eras. The sixth track of the album, “Flavourism” features a collaboration with gospel-trained singer, Seven Davis Jr. incorporating stripped down, house driven grooves. Dale and Smeets describe this album as “combining our love for house, ambient and jazzy harmonics.” Whether it’s classic house, obscure disco, or funk- they bring it, work it, and mix it up.
CURT REYNOLDS- FILL IN THE BLANK
CommentCurt Reynolds channels the laid back San Diego beach town mentality with his recent single release, “Fill In The Blank.” This release draws closer to his forthcoming EP, dropping early next month. With recent performances at Lollapalooza, SnowGlobe, and Splash House, he’s been gaining recognition and making an impact on the busy scene over the last year. He credits his happy, funky-disco sound to growing up in Solana Beach with constant sunny days. Now residing in Los Angeles, he draws inspiration from different angles, living by the beach to stay connected to nature, in the midst of fast-paced urban sprawl. Beautiful Buzzz spoke with him and he’s promised a variety of feels, styles and fun sets in the near future!
JIMMY EDGAR- PUZZLED
CommentSome artists are so versatile; you have to hail them as creative gods. Jimmy Edgar continues to impress, often regarded as a renaissance man for his various talents, ideas, and style. From music, graphic design, fashion design, filmmaking, and photography- he seems to be a student of all art. Edgar began experimenting with electronic music at age 10, preforming at 15, and iconically signed to Warp at 18. Influenced by music theory, modal interchange, and jazz transitions- he brings a unique style and flair. He recently released “Puzzled,” a single track, version of “switch switch.” Less than 2 minutes long and sourced from various hardware synthesizers, Edgar intends to give every sound away. The basic principle is creating songs within songs, to keep attention and harmonic variety. The Detroit native became legend during Detroit Electronic Festival when security guards began raving with the crowd. Turning music into a sensory experience, Edgar continues to gain following from his one-of-a-kind sound.
DJ KOZE- BONFIRE
CommentGerman producer Stefan Kozalla, better known as DJ Koze has been making a name for himself in the German hip-hop scene since the mid 90’s. Established as one of the most playful producers, he’s remixed for many, including Chicks on Speed, Rah Band, Matias Aguayo, and countless others. His first solo album, Amygdala appeared back in 2013 courtesy of Pampa. This release came 8 years after his first full-length, Kosi Comes Around. Experimenting with proper Kompakt-style minimal techno, ambient, break beat, and dream pop- he cultivates legendary musical expression. In 2015, Koze released a mix for the DJ-Kicks series and in 2016, put out a Pampa sampler. One of his latest releases, “Bonfire” comes from his full-length LP, Knock Knock. “Bonfire” is concurrently inviting and apprehensive, mixing pulsing atonal synthesizers with warm vocals sampled from Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon. There's always a beautiful, magical element in any Koze release. If he didn’t already win you over with his remix of “Operator” at Dekmantel, no worries you have 16 more tracks to fall in love with.
SOUL CATALYST - ONLY YOU FT. FELISH
CommentSeeing that Beautiful Buzzz thrives from innovative artists, we understand the impact they have in inspiring people all around the world. One artist in particular has enamored me since 2016 when I first heard, “Scenic Route ft. Felish.” Los Angeles based producer Andrew Coulter, better known as Soul Catalyst, has consistently been an artist I can queue for anyone, anytime, in any environment and receive the same positive reaction from. His stylistic choices render a daydream essence. He's held his own remixing favorites such as, Daft Punk’s “Lose Yourself to Dance” and ODESZA’s “White Lies.” With light filled, organic, care-free melodies and vocals, it’s clear he’s mastered the art of combining electronic house beats with dreamy psychedelic chill. He's just released, “Only You ft. Felish” off his forthcoming album, Silver Linings. It’s hard to say what’s in the future for Soul Catalyst, but I’m sure he’ll have no problem turning it into a beautiful journey.
