I love this video - I am totally mesmerised! This new one from Swedish pop queen Robyn is just so gret! She is accomplishing what so many pop stars try to accomplish over and over - but they just can't do it! And I love the song - I'm so with you girl! In high school they used to call me the boyfriend stealer, and not much has changed - that is if I don't know you - cos game on, I'll steal your boyfriend real quick!!! ;-)

WOW!
The party starts early - She Wants Revenge play at 9pm!! This is a night that cannot be missed!
Tonight: The Hundred In The Hands @ The Satellite

I have been super excited to see this band for a minute! I am not a huge fan of chick singers, but I really like Eleanore Everdell's voice - singer for New York based band The Hundred In The Hands. You wont find any whaling or frantic up and down scaling here - in fact she's not all that great a singer really. It's simple and easy to listen to - with great dance tracks backing her up...love it!
A buddy of mine cought their show a month or so ago in San Francisco, and said it was a snoozfest - but I like to judge things for myself, so we'll see how it goes!
Tonight: Vanaprasta @ Detroit Bar - Costa Mesa
CommentI don't usually like to go to the OC......ever!! However, for a band like Vanaprasta, I will do this!! I have bloged many times about this amazing LA band, one of the best this over crowded city has to offer. I will take my chances tonight....I will brave the 405 freeway down to the OC beach cities.....I will avoid bros as much as possible....I will run from republicans.....because Vanaprasta - you are worth it!!
They have a new song available for download...mmmmmmmmmmm
New Video: Art Vs Science
CommentWell, here they are again!! Art Vs Science has released another piece of adventurous and entertaining cinema. Their new video for "Higher" has the aussie lads as secret agents skydiving down to a rather fancy party, and fighting evil monsters that can only be seen through their special sunglasses. It's cute - I can't help it - I am a sucker for anything Art Vs Science does - I am just a nerdy nerdy fan! They have a nack of turning on the boyish charm without going over the top - you want them to win....they are winning!! I can't imagine Dan, Dan , and Jim actually doing this - the thought of them beating up big burily bodyguards with their kung fu moves makes me laugh because it is really so far from the truth, but that is why it is so fun to watch! Nice job boys!!
BTW - there are new US dates announced!! They will be hitting some major cities, and then doing the West Coast with The Hundred Days in August....which is going to be nuts!!! Check the web sites for updates!!
Tonight: Grouplove @ The Satellite
CommentI have not seen this local LA band yet - I am a busy girl and I just never got around to it. The buzz is everywhere about this group tho, and tonight I will finally get to see what the hype is all about!
The mambers of Grouplove come from all over the globe - New York, London, and Los Angeles - and they all met in Greece...but now call LA their home. I hear them on KCRW, I've seen the video - it's cute! But that is my overall impression so far - oh how cute.....and there is even a band romance - oh how cute! But, they have a big fancy record deal, and these days that says a lot - so I'm gonna check it out tonight. The show is sold out, but there always seems to be a few tickets available at the door.....
Tonight: Hooray For Earth @ The Fonda
CommentIt's a big ticket tonight, I know.... $22.50 plus ticketmaster charges - and if you are like me and don't see the need to ever pay over 12 bucks for a show, this would be a hard pill to swallow. However, seeing as how Hooray For Earth were such a great band at SXSW this year, and I was stuck back stage when they played my showcase, but what I heard blew me away, and considering how sweet and down to earth they are.....I would tell each and every person to spend the 30 bucks - it's well worth it!! They are opening for Architecture in Helsinki, so get there early! I am super excited to get to see my first full set!!
New Video: The Frail
Comment
I have a soft spot in my heart for San Francisco bands. The bay area is teaming with them, but somehow they never seem to "break out" - but I think that is all about to change. There are some really great bands from the bay starting to see the light of music industry day, and I think maybe in the next year or so the bay will be the new "Brooklyn" - where all eyes will be on what's coming out of that beautiful city.
One such band is The Frail. This dance pop band makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, and yes, I even dance!! They have just released their new video from bay area director David Dutton, who is emerging as "the man" for local musicians - having also directed videos for The Limousines and The Hundred Days.
Enjoy!!
