When Gotye was in LA last month, he stoped by KCRW to do a live show on Morning Becomes Electic. That live show aired this morning and it is awesome!! It is pretty much the same set he played later that night at The Satellite which totally blew my mind - and he deliveres it the same way in the KCRW stidio! And yes, Kimbra makes an appearence here too!
Also, just announced - Gotye will be back in LA on February 2nd @ The El Rey! Tickets go onsale this Saturday, Nov. 19 HERE and they will sell out quick so get on it!!
Not to long ago I posted this song and talked about this new band from Brisbane, Australia. Now they have a new video to go along with this great track!!
YesYou came out of nowhere with this song and made quite an impact on Tripple J Radio down under! Now they have put together a full band, and are making plans for a tour - how sweet it must be to have some success before they even play thier first live show! Love it!!
This video is made from footage the band found in a second hand store of someone's home movie of a family vacation. Enjoy!
If you haven't heard yet - Phenomenal Handclap Band have released a new single and will have a new album out on January 31, 2012. Not only does this band have the best name on the planet - they really dont suck, like at all, no sucking anywhere!
The new single is called "Following" and it is to be enjoyed for free right below! The track finds the group taking the next step forward from the cosmic disco-funk and international, psychedelic soul of their critically acclaimed debut album.
I just can't stop watching! I can't decide if I think it's brilliant or disturbing - I think it might be both!! Great song! Is Tropical - thanks for making my day a little bit cooler!
I have a friend who has a new band who are playing their first show tonight @ The Satallite here in LA! NO, yes that is their name, NO! Love!
They have released a single called "Stay With Me" which you can download for free! So far from what I have heard, I am really going to enjoy this show! They have a big sound, and remind me a little of The Twilight Sad, especially the vocal, but not so depressing! So if your in LA - it's Wednesday night - come on out! They play at 9pm!
Once again, I had the pleasure of spending a few days on the road with my favorite Aussie band - Art Vs Science! 3 days of fun, I just cant get enough of that insane electro show! Every night Art Vs Science deliver one hell of a live show! There can be 10 people in the room, or they can be playing a festival with 22,000 people - either way they deliver! That is a trait of true musicians and knowing they are truly passionate about what they ate doing! Hunble and kind, Dan Mac, Dan W and Jim Finn are some of the greatest guys I know, and I LOVE them!
From Kingston to Montreal to St. Louis - we did it up and had nothing but fun! Dan Mac made a set list just for me in Kingston..........thanks D Mac!
Check out this clip from Halloween night in St. Louis, MO! It was cold and we were all so tired, but the party had to go on! I will miss my friends - it will be some time before they return to the states, but they need and deserve some time off!
Three times this year I have been able to work with Art Vs Science - and what a year it has been! Thanks for everything my loves!
The other night, I had one of those nights....the ones that I wish were every night! I went to see Unknown Mortal Orchestra - who I had been on the fence about. I knew if I saw them live I would totally get the whole picture behind the band, and I am happy to say that they were great, and yes, I am now a fan! The other thing that happened - something that almost never happens, but when it does it pretty much makes the night the best ever - the opening band was equally amazing!
Gauntlet Hair killed that opening slot - totally made it their bitch! It was awesome! Looks like they are based out of Denver at the moment - rather odd....not too much comes out of that part of the world recently, which makes them even cooler! I checked out their self titled album which was released this year - it's great. It has a cool drowny vocal vibe, like Echo & The Bunny Men with indie goodness fuzzy guitars with heavy bass out front - if you like Bear In Heaven you will digg Gauntlet Hair.
Now that tour is over, I can get back to seeing some great new music! Not that I dont love The Hundred Days and Art Vs Science, and I will miss being on the road with them - but I have to say that this time around, I couldn't wait to get home! Now I am hangin out in San Francisco with the parents, and tonight I get to see something new!
Unknown Mortal Orchestra are playing Popscene - my very favorite club night in San Francisco. I have been on the fence with this band - I cant quite put my finger on what I like or dont like, but I can say I don't love it! In this kind of situation, for me, the live show is the make or break point.... If they are amazing live, then I will most likely become a fan. But if they suck, I will never mention them again.
As if I dont talk enough about these two bands - cos they are my absolute favorite two bands ever! Art Vs Science and The Hundred Days are together again! For me, when both bands are on the same show, its like a "fountain or youth" and "the boys they all love me"....that's exactly what it feels like! Exactly!
If you are in Kingston, ON on Wednesday the 26th, or anywhere near there - this is a show you cannot miss! I mean, really, you cant miss it!!
