NEW MUSIC: PEACE - WRAITH

British boys in rock bands - two of my favorite things!  Peace fits this profile, seeing as how they are British, and boys, and a rock band - a really fucking good rock band in fact!  Some weeks back I talked about their single/video for "Bloodshake" and they were featured on the Beautiful Buzzz October Mix Tape that you can listen to HERE! 

Next month Peace will be releasing their next single called "Wraith" and it is totally delicious!  On January 13 you can grab this tune, but until then take a listen above!

NEW MUSIC: ALEK FIN - MULL EP (EP STREAM)

Alek Fin is the nom de guerre of an independent, electronic musician from Los Angeles. For inspiration, he states: Captions, Death Rabbit, DJ 501, Jon Hopkins, Radiohead, Bask, Vex Mohan, Annica, etc...

Pigeons and Planes says: "  In 2012, electronic music played a huge role in the mainstream, but it was often in the more experimental leaning sounds where things got interesting.  Instead of the in-your-face synths and that notorious drop, Alek Fin chooses to go the route of guys like James Blake and Nicolas Jaar.  On his Mull EP, the negative space is one of the most important elements, and leaving that room to breathe allows the songs on this EP to unfold like scenes in a movie.  In only four songs, all under six minutes, the EP swells, sinks, floats, and erupts with a finely-tuned consciousness."

NEW VIDEO: ISADORA - FALTER

Since their birth in November (that's last month), Isadora has had early fans at the likes of INTERVIEW Magazine, Under the Radar, and W Magazine. The band consists of Aaron Mendelsohn (vocals, guitar), Ian Mellencamp (bass, vocals), Jesse Bilotta (drums, vocals), Nick Burleigh (guitar, violin), and Josh Rouah (keyboards, guitar, vocals). Their debut EP will be released in late Feburary 2013.

The band began as a duo, writing dreamy, melodic pop tunes inspired by the compositions of early Andrew Bird.  The lineup grew and shrank, eventually swelling into its five-piece formation.  The evolution in the lineup has inspired a change as well in the band's sonic atmosphere.  Isadora has arrived at a rich, textured sound, sometimes going purely 'on feel' while always being highly composed.

Directed by Chris Byler and Sam Adams, the video follows drummer Jesse Bilotta who plays a man bored with life and ready to be done with it all. He decides to have one last banger with his imaginary friend  "Larry" and then ends it all with some assistance from his Madame.

REMIX: ALT-J - FITZPLEASURE (BETATRAXX REMIX)

Alt-J have released a new remix of "Fitzpleasure" done by Los Angeles-based DJ and producer, Betatraxx. On this interpretation of the song, Betatraxx sprinkles his own brand of synth-laden dark harmonies over the fan favorite original by Alt-J.

NEW VIDEO: BLACKBIRD BLACKBIRD - ALL

It's the first week of December, which means we are all going to have to suffer through 3 more weeks of Xmas music, angry shoppers, and creepy family members like your long lost thumbless uncle who only shows up once a year..... without a thumb!  Ah.....the holidays!  But have no fear, if you are in San Francisco you are in luck, because this week you can get away from it all and go see Blackbird Blackbird on Thursday night at Rickshaw Stop!

Will Calll are having another one of their awesome pop-up shows, and it's featuring Blackbird Blackbird - this one is going to be outrageous!  Taken from his facebook page, "Anthemic, dream-driven themes inspire Blackbird Blackbird's work, where layers of electronic texture drape over organic sounds and ghostly vocals.  Within elongated song structures, Blackbird Blackbird harnesses thematic elements of dynamism and composition to create depth and complexity, while never losing sight of his pop sensibilities."  His new Boracay Planet EP is out now! 

This night also includes a headline set from LA daytime disco darlings Poolside, and a DJ set from Bloc Party!  Woah!!  You will need to get tickets HERE - or grab the Will Call App and scoop tickets there!  Either way, it will be hard to keep your panties on at this show! 

NEW MUSIC: MITZI - TRULY ALIVE (REHEARSAL SESSION)

I love the internet!  I love the internet because it gives me cool places to listen to music like Soundcloud - and this just come up in my Soundcloud stream.  Yea..... pretty much loosing it over this one!  Mitzi are Australian, from Brisbane to be exact!  My love affair with Australian indie pop and dance bands is next to nothing I have ever known (maybe that one time I took mushrooms at that Phish show in the 90's comes close)!!

Mitzi have a new record Truly Alive will be coming out early 2013 via Future Classic - so keep your eyes peeled! 

NEW MUSIC: URBAN CONE - KINGS & QUEENS

Hold on to your seats - this new single from Urban Cone is HUGE!  "Kings & Queens" is the kind of track that blasts through your headphones straight into your soul.  It's bouncy rhythm and synthed out melody takes a hold - and not dancing is not an option!  They are from Sweden, they are adorable, and they are on tour here in the US early next year!

NEW VIDEO: SAINT MOTEL - BENNY GOODMAN

My copy of Los Angeles indie pop band Saint Motel's first full length release - Voyeur - was warn down this summer - a lot of miles spent listening to that record!  Today they released a new video for single "Benny Goodman" - directed by front man A/J Jackson!  Just coming off a full summer of touring and selling out west coast shows, Saint Motel deserve all the best - brilliant, talented and beautiful - these are the kind of people you want to know and they make the kind of music you want to hear!  Enjoy!
