For a while now, Chet Porter has been a beacon of feel good sound; bridging the gap between the soundcloud community and indie pop. Never lacking in sense of humor, he nonetheless exudes a reticence that reflects in the tranquil nature of his music. In his recent remix of Louis The Child’s youth anthem “Love Is Alive”, Chet Porter maintains a delicate approach but steps outside his normal comfort zone to drop a driving, pulsing iteration of a track you already know and love. The combination of melodic vocal chops and a more intense bassline than we are used to seeing with him all combine to deliver something new, and just in time for his first headlining tour this fall. This guy has already been some of the strongest support on some of the best shows over the past few years, grabbing that headlining spot was an inevitability, if not long overdue. BRASSTRACKS - THOSE WHO KNOW
Music, Original MixCommentHoly mac! Brasstracks tho .... I mean it just keeps getting better and better! Ivan and Conor have been crushing all the things with their Brasstracks project, and personally they kinda make me swoon with their sweet jams! Jazz infused future bass feels is the signature sound by combining brassy melodies with R&B vibes with that luscious bass ... so amazing! This new track "Those Who Know" debuts Ivan's vocal skills as well - proving that these guys really can do it all. Well done!

LAVID - BURN (FT. KLEI)
Music, Original MixCommentNew to the music scene, but far from novice, German producer Lavid just stunned critics with his release of "BURN" ft. Klei. Although Lavid is a recent project for producer Emanuel Bender, his previous Alias, Drift Static accumulated over a million plays with his unofficial remixes for Awolnation. In essence, Bender is no stranger to what it means to be at the apex of Hype Machine, and certainly no stranger to success. Lavid, in contrast to Drift Static, takes a more flighty approach towards electronic music. "Burn" is a shimmery. breezy track, with a chopped, rapid build and an unwinding drop. The lyricism teeters on sultry and sensual- a cherry on top of the multifaceted, cool production. Bender's latest vision is coming to fruition with stimulation, and decadence. Stay tuned for what's next from Lavid.

STEVE REECE & MARIA LYNN - LAMBO
Music, Original MixCommentHoly, yes! I don't know how to appropriately articulate the fact that this track makes me think of morning dew. Producer Steve Reece and singer, songwiter Maria Lynn teamed to drop a super fresh single titled, "Lambo." Released via Chill Nation, "Lambo," after only a week, is a definite hit. It's electric pop fragrance, and it's indie roots make for an embraceable work of art. With a breezy cadence and lyrics that speak only of the finer things, it's nothing short of charming. Steve Reece and Maria Lynn are crisp, organic, and harmonious in their first original release as a duo. I spy a successful future for these two.
KNGDAVD - YOU NEVER KNOW
Music, Original MixCommentIt's been a minute, but KNGDAVD is back with a new tune! The duo lit it up with their last couple singles "Medicine" and "Shame" and now connect again with this new single "You Never Know." The lyrics talk about sinking into decisions that you might later regret "You Never Know" preaching to "don't count your chickens before they hatch." A great phrase my parents used to tell me all the time haha and truthfully is sage advice. The record features a haunting guitar line that evolves into light pads upon sprightly hip hop oriented percussion. The beat is droning and melancholy which simply adds to the spice of the tune.
[PREMIERE] BON IVER - FLUME (ON PLANETS COVER)
PREMIERE, Music, CoverCommentSuper excited for this next premiere! If you follow us here at BB, you know we are huge fans of On Planets -- I feel like he's 100% part of our fam because we've supported this legend from the start. Today he drops a fantastic cover of "Flume" by Bon Iver and I feel like my poor writing skills will not do him justice for just how excellent this is. If I was a fancy writer I would deconstruct each element using colorful descriptive words to try to paint a picture of what this sounds like. But ... I'm not that fancy - and you'll just have to trust my good taste and believe me when I say .... this is the bomb! We love you On Planets! You guys can swoop that free download HERE!

THE FEDERAL EMPIRE - YOU AND DRUGS
Music, Original MixCommentThis new one from upstart folk/pop group The Federal Empire was sent over to me the weekend, and was so damn catchy I couldn't help but throw it up this week on BB. The message behind it really struck me as well albeit rather bluntly. It's a simple concept - drugs give you that quick fix, that high, but ultimately leave you feeling unfulfilled or wanting more. "What's the difference between you and drugs" the lead singer Chad sings with perfect precision. The band ends the latter part of the tune focusing on love because as they say, "Love lasts longer, is giving and selfless, and makes you feel good for longer than just the instant. The song can be applied to so many different things because we have a lot of "drugs" in our every day lives now." So true, and applicable to our fleeting, and frequently unfocused millenial generation.
GRIMES - REALITI (EMBRZ REMIX)
Music, RemixCommentCanadian singer-songwriter/producer Grimes, aka Claire Boucher, the electro-pop dance queen who broke out in 2012 has always mesmerized me. She’s one of those all-around artistic talents who is deeply involved in all aspects of everything she releases from videos and art to the engineering of the music itself.
It’s to our delight that Dublin-born producer EMBRZ has chosen to remix “Realiti” from her 2015 album Art Angels. He’s taken the 80s-inspired indie-dance tune and beefed it up into a deep, rich, future-friendly house number. With pumping synth and side chain, EMBRZ has shown what he loves to do production-wise when it comes to remixes: create a driving danceable track that showcases forward thinking sound design while still preserving the essence of the original track.
