[PREMIERE] TIM ATLAS - COUNTERFEIT

Master of vintage vibes and soulful swag, the one and only Tim Atlas is back with a new tune just as he prepares to embark on his All Talk! Summer Tour, and we’re excited to have the honor of premiering it for you today on this lovely New Music Friday. 

Clocking in at just under three minutes, “Counterfeit” is a short and sweet slice of classic Tim Atlas grooviness. Replete with a sassy bass line, plenty of cowbell, sexy synths, and cheeky gang vocals for good measure—it’s a bouncy toe tapper that’ll have you moving without even realizing it. Tim’s soft and subdued vocals glide above the 80’s rock drums, nostalgic synths and jazzy guitar and bass licks. Like most of Atlas’ music, it transports you back to an earlier era while maintaining an air of contemporary electro-funk of which the likes of Chromeo or Cherub would likely be fans. 

Speaking about the track, Tim said:
"We're all guilty of indulging in something when we know we shouldn’t. But we do it anyway because we’re human and we often choose that feeling over what actually makes sense."

DATABOY" by David Hopperman for our next premiere. This French producer is a fresh face to our pages, and this is his debut release via our favorite lil electronic label across the pond Perfect Havoc ... legends!  With enchanting melodies, cushy beats and velvety vocals, this R&B track will give you all the vibes for your weekend party playlists. SMALLTALK - WAIT

Today it’s my true pleasure to introduce you to smalltalk, the new musical project of Peter Fenn and Parker Livingston. A serendipitous meeting while working at the same San Francisco tech company led to the duo originally making music together under the name Polaroid, releasing a handful of singles in 2016 and 2017. Now they’ve rebranded as smalltalk and have released their vibey debut single “Wait”, a relaxed indie soul track with the kind of warm vocals and instrumentation that beckon the backyard days of summer. Citing inspirations old and new, from Otis Redding to Anderson .Paak, it’s evident that the pair are able to bring together elements of both classic soul music and contemporary hip-hop beats to create their own unique vibe that feels timeless. We can only hope for more smalltalk as we move through 2018.

THUTMOSE - KARMA (FEAT. ALEX MALI)

Once upon a time ya boy went to a sacred place called the good ole Hollywood Bowl for a show with the one and only Pete Tong. We were there to rock out to some of the most classic Ibiza dance records accompanied by the epic Heritage orchestra. Funny enough I hear Pete announce "Please welcome Thutmose to the stage!" I looked around and was like whattt?? Is that Thutmose I heard? I had been hearing murmurings about this up and coming rapper, but was definitely surprised to see him take that kind of stage. He performed flawlessly, and I knew it was time to check out what all this Thut is about. Today I'm bringing you his latest, a soulful rendezvous of bobbing bass and laid back vibes. Thut gets rockin on the track both singing and rapping in between Alex Mali's delicately yearning vocals. This ones a chill jam and I think you're gonna love it.

JOJI - WILL HE (MEDASIN REDO)

I know we are all counting down the hours to get us some of that Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night ... but before we stuff our faces and celebrate being thankful to do so, we need to have some sexy time .... and Medasin is bring all the sexy time with this new track! His remix of "Will He" by Joji is dripping with vibes, it's straight sex on a plate! His easy going R&B sound under slow sultry future beats and soulful vocals ... it's impossible to not love this one! All the feels!

BRASSTRACKS - FOR THOSE WHO KNOW PT. I

Seriously tho - Brasstracks are untouchable.  It's not very often that we cover EP's - we like to focus on one track at a time .... but this new EP from our dynamic duo loves is just so fucking good .... I just can't not NOT talk abut the whole damn thing! For Those Who Know Pt. I is sonic heaven. Mixing Funk, Jazz, Hip-hop, Dance, Electronic, R&B, Future, Pop, and all the other rad feels you can think of - this EP is pure fire! We keep blasting it in the office/club here at Mezzanine, and I'm working hard on getting them on their first Beautiful Buzzz show! The two tracks I chose to feature are "Improve #1 (Intro) ft. The Underachievers & Robert Glasper" and "Opposite Ways ft.
