Denver’s own Thoreau returns plunging himself in the deep waters of hip-hop. The well versed producer is revered for his charming, down-tempo electro-pop signature. Challenging his own style with a sense of unfettered swag, Thoreau unveils, “In For.” Boasting his own slackened verses on top of an easy-going beat, “In For” yields a romantic mantra, manifesting the hardships of relationships and heartbreak. With over a million streams across his entire discography, the wanderlust producer is showcasing no signs of stagnancy. His broad versatility, and unique take on electronic music is righteously colliding with his other influences. “In For” is a catchy single, but strays from the mainstream, solidifying Thoreau as one of the most exciting acts to watch this year. Stay tuned for more electro-fusion from the Denver hustler.
[PREMIERE] THOREAU - LIKE WE USED TO (FT. JERIS)
Music, Original Mix, PREMIERECommentThe man the myth the growing legend that is Thoreau continues to put together brilliant tracks. His latest "Like We Used To" featuring Jeris is a driving thumper that is equal parts dance floor heater and emotional rollercoaster. Coming off a hot 2017 which brought him a Trap Nation premiere of "Illusion ft. Tina Decara" and a signing to Spotted Records, now we're gifted with this lovely record. Jeris' vocals decry a love that has fallen from the good days accompanied by Thoreau's instrumental full of dramatic drones and a pumping low end that keeps you bobbing from start to finish. This is a terrific new tune from this camp and a great way to start off a soon to be break out year.

THOREAU X TINA DECARA - ILLUSION
Music, Original MixCommentAfter a slew of successful remixes, our boy Thoreau has finally released his first original, and it was certainly worth the wait. His latest effort, an exploratory future bass record "Illusion" is an epic tune from the second you hit play. It starts with string plucks and sound effects as ethereal ahh's lead us in to Tina Decara's first verse. The tune envelopes you in pulsing gyrations of sound right after she sings "I'm High on the way that it feels" leading us into an impactful chorus with an energetic rhythm section and warped vocals. The second verse brings in Thoreau's signature blend of beats and rock guitar. We've come to expect a spicy blend of guitar and synths in most of Thoreau's productions, and this one falls right in line. Illusion is a dope addition to his growing catalogue of sweet tunes and is a proper advancement in his sound.

THOREAU - BRONZE WHALE x POPESKA - IMAGINE FT. TOM ASPAUL (THOREAU REMIX)
Music, RemixCommentRising progressive house producer Thoreau just dropped his vibrant remix of "Imagine" by Bronze Whale and Popeska. While the original track received stellar feedback on its own, Thoreau's treatment is blazing trails for further success of the hit single. Heavy-hitting dance music faces a lot of criticism in the EDM community, primarily for stale repetition and predictable chord progression. Thoreau's spin of "Imagine" is direct proof that progressive house music can, and should be, a revered, multi-faceted take on electronic composition. This remix is tailor made for a summer night house party, or a shoes-off-at-home-shuffle-sesh. Its first major drop at 1:31 is a shock wave of dynamic, pulsating resonance. Thoreau has reshaped this already brilliant single into a stimulating, cleanly mixed dance party. This Boulder-based producer is changing the way the EDM-world looks at progressive house, as his artistic outlook on dance music is refreshing in an often over-saturated market. Get down with Thoreau and his latest remix via Soundcloud, sure to leave you feeling reanimated and recharged.

[PREMIERE] PARAMORE - MISERY BUSINESS (THOREAU - BACK)
Music, PREMIERE, RemixCommentThoreau's latest addition to his back series is an epic remix of Paramore's "Misery Business." If you were a pop punk head like I was circa 2006 then Paramore was a staple of the game. I and I'm sure countless others had suchh a crush on Haley ha ha. Thoreau's version maintains the same drive of the original, but inserts his signature future bass spikey bliss. I'm loving these throwbacks I might have to think about getting tickets to warped tour this year. You can download the remix for free right here.

GREEN DAY - BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS (THOREAU REMIX)
Music, RemixCommentHe's backkk! Thoreau has been throwin down some jams lately hitting hype machine #1 on two out of his three releases so far, and we're loving his new bootleg of Green Day's epic "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams." The tune is a journey to listen through, the first drop sweeps into a future bass chorus with spikey layers of synths wobbling around. The track takes a turn after that and slows way down before diving into a halftime warped vocal bridge full of juicy characteristically Thoreau guitar. Harry is diving into remixing his favorite 2000's records in his "Thoreau-Backs" series : “The reason these tracks are so pivotal to me is because this is the exact music I grew up listening to. I got into music and began playing electric guitar at a very young age to try and emulate these rock stars that I looked up to. They represent the teenage angst we all felt, the heartbreaks we will never forget, and the passion we can’t always find in music these days.” Lots to love in this classic rework you can nab this as a free download here.

EMBER ISLAND X RADIOHEAD - CREEP (THOREAU REMIX)
Music, RemixCommentWell these are three names I'm definitely excited to see together. Thoreau has been developing his own brand of guitar laden future bass that fits perfectly underneath Ember Island's incredibly juicy cover of Radiohead's classic "Creep." The beginning of this remix is hauntingly beautiful and melodic eventually building toward a rawkus breakdown of bright melodies and a sporadic dubby wobble. The real bliss in this remix however I think is the way Harry aka Thoreau has layered the breakdowns. The second verse is mysterious and longing with a hidden intensity to it eventually taking us to a thoroughly exciting finale full of fantastic electric guitar. With Halloween right around the corner you couldn't ask for a better tune to get us in the mood. You can download this for free right here.

PEGBOARD NERDS X NGHTMRE X KREWELLA - SUPERSTAR (THOREAU REMIX)
Music, Original MixCommentWe're going to keep the momentum going for Thoreau who's having a hell of a month. From making the re-brand, to his first release (check out his "Low" remix) going #1 on Hype Machine, and now an official remix for electronic heavy hitters Krewella, Pegboard Nerds and NGHTMRE. By now you've probably already heard the original, but Thoreau has put his signature future bass sound on this hype anthem. Bursting open with piano and the "Superstar" vox chops, the track quickly builds into a larger than life bright flaring synth chorus with deep sub and the occasional fluttering arp. The record channels ahead and we're treated to a signature Thoreau guitar solo in the second chorus that keeps you locked in. Thoreau has quickly moved his career from walking to jogging, and if he keeps releasing tunes like this he'll be at top speed very soon.

TRACE - LOW (THOREAU REMIX)
Music, RemixCommentI love it when friends of mine remix other friends of mine. It just feels good...like the squad is crankin' out dope tracks while at the same time supporting each other. Well Trace has been on fire since her debut just a short few months ago, she's gone on to release this single "Low" with Next Wave Records, and just released her debut 'Low' EP on Spotify today! Harry aka Thoreau has done what is sometimes inevitable in the music world, but is coming out on top. Moving on from his former group SummitScape, Harry has successfully re-branded as Thoreau and is ready to take the future bass scene by storm with this his first official Thoreau remix...and what a remix it is! This record is smooth as silk, with a fantastic vocal chop leading the way ahead of layers of bright synths, reverb piano and ohh yess electric guitar! The track is emotional, smooth and yet still somehow hype as the choruses envelope you in cascading sound. Well this is just the beginning for Thoreau, he recently sent me a picture of his sick new studio and I know he's ready to make the best of it. You can nab the "Low" remix as a free download here.
