YE. - ALRIGHT ALONE (FEAT. JOSH JACOBSON)

Steadily-rising young artist ye. has already bestowed us with two singles off of his anticipated EP. Recently, the NY-based producer finally unveiled 'Trails,' an 8-track EP, in it's entirety. While each and every track on the project retains such divergent qualities, we decided to highlight one of our top picks, "Alright Alone," and leave the rest for you to explore. Ethereal and floaty waves shape ye.'s recently-renovated sound and become the theme of the collaboration with singer/songwriter Josh Jacobson. Heavy influences from artists such as ODESZA, Slow Magic, and Petit Biscuit can all be heard within the synth work as it seamlessly intertwines with Josh's silvery vocals. As a whole, the EP delivers a style that is simply refreshing, and will assuredly have you hitting 'play' over and over.

UNLIKE PLUTO - LATE BLOOMER

Atlanta-native and currently LA-based artist Unlike Pluto has entered the spotlight with his pop-rock, grungy new single “Late Bloomer.” What makes this release so unique is that it is actually a 2-sided track, with another track titled “I Tried Getting High” that exhibits just the same wonderful qualities as his title song. But what also makes his latest so unique is that it is Unlike Pluto's own vocal talents that are on full display, despite his chronic nasal issues. After one listen, you can’t really help but wonder “how much better could his voice get without that set back, and why haven't we been seeing this incredible talent more often?”

That talent only affirms this guy’s creative versatility. Not only does he have a striking vox, but he also happens to be quite the skilled producer- for those who are unfamiliar with his previous works. “Late Bloomer” lays down proof of this through the multi-gifted artist’s clean, crisp and innovative production. Comprising a classical background in piano, which he picked up at the age of 5, drums and clarinet, plus an insatiable passion for electronic music, he has been able to find the quintessential middle ground that defines his musical brand, of which is exposed through these two flawless releases.

ROBOKID - FISHING LESSONS

Moving Castle co-founder and character, Robokid returns unveiling “Fishing Lessons-” a dynamic, rolling labyrinth of soundscapes that bind together to create a single outline of pure genius. Despite the humorous title and cheeky track art, “Fishing Lessons” is innately intellectual, rousing the senses and demanding your attention. Walls of synth drip behind a righteously contrasting resonance. A sustained ebb and flow of frequencies dance carefree throughout, challenging the senses and ultimately creating a myriad of sounds that romantically meet in the middle of singularity and chaos. THOREAU - IN FOR

Denver’s own Thoreau returns plunging himself in the deep waters of hip-hop. The well versed producer is revered for his charming, down-tempo electro-pop signature. Challenging his own style with a sense of unfettered swag, Thoreau unveils, “In For.” Boasting his own slackened verses on top of an easy-going beat, “In For” yields a romantic mantra, manifesting the hardships of relationships and heartbreak. With over a million streams across his entire discography, the wanderlust producer is showcasing no signs of stagnancy. His broad versatility, and unique take on electronic music is righteously colliding with his other influences. “In For” is a catchy single, but strays from the mainstream, solidifying Thoreau as one of the most exciting acts to watch this year. JVLY - BLUE PILL (FT. SARAI)

Minimal and innovative, Aussie’s own JVLY returns with “Blue Pill,” the debut release for Mammal Sounds Records. Featuring vocals from Sydney-based SARAI, “Blue Pill” is a Lo-Fi, bedroom R&B masterpiece. His unique take on production shines with this release- both warm and demanding. Creating a genre all his own, JVLY follows no particular algorithm to create such alluring bodies of art, allowing him to stand righteously outside the mainstream. As a wave continues to break in the music industry, JVLY is cruising waters miles ahead of the tipping point. AXEL MANSOOR - BROTHERS

Axel Mansoor is just keeping the momentum going. Fresh off an Emmy (yes you read right) Emmy nom nom nom, and an epic selfie-led music video for 'Talk To Me' that was featured by Buzzfeed, Axel is in no way looking backward. He's grinding and working hard to make beautiful tunes to bring to our earholes, and he's most certainly done it again with 'Brothers'. This folky acoustic and vocal-led single comes as the last song on the newly released Somerset EP named for the street he wrote it on. The song has a heart wrenching story to accompany the heavenly tune. Axel speaking about the song:

"'Brothers' was never supposed to be on this EP. It was an older song I had hung up a while ago, loved but never brought down. In January, I received an email from a grieving mother who had recently lost a son — she explained to me that her other son had found the song and that it had helped their family through the pain. I’ve never cried so hard from an email. I’d never met her son and yet it felt like I had lost him too. I knew I had to make a new version, and I asked her if I could dedicate it to him. Well…"Brothers" is out now, in loving memory of Brody Stewart (December 30, 1991 - January 14, 2018)."

[PREMIERE] TIM ATLAS - COUNTERFEIT

Master of vintage vibes and soulful swag, the one and only Tim Atlas is back with a new tune just as he prepares to embark on his All Talk! Summer Tour, and we’re excited to have the honor of premiering it for you today on this lovely New Music Friday. 

Clocking in at just under three minutes, “Counterfeit” is a short and sweet slice of classic Tim Atlas grooviness. Replete with a sassy bass line, plenty of cowbell, sexy synths, and cheeky gang vocals for good measure—it’s a bouncy toe tapper that’ll have you moving without even realizing it. Tim’s soft and subdued vocals glide above the 80’s rock drums, nostalgic synths and jazzy guitar and bass licks. Like most of Atlas’ music, it transports you back to an earlier era while maintaining an air of contemporary electro-funk of which the likes of Chromeo or Cherub would likely be fans. 

Speaking about the track, Tim said:
"We're all guilty of indulging in something when we know we shouldn’t. But we do it anyway because we’re human and we often choose that feeling over what actually makes sense."
