MAZDE - NEVERLAND (MEMBA & ARK PATROL REMIXES)

Music, RemixAlli LindseyComment

Electronic music is often portrayed as its own, stand-alone genre- specific to a certain crowd, following specific chord progressions and melodies. But, in recent years electronic production has influenced genres as niche as garage rock and heavy metal. Simply put, electronic music is changing the way the world listens to, and composes music. Stoney Roads Records' artist, Mazde confirmed this theory with the release of his single, "Neverland." The single was a collaborative track with Rhode Island rapper, Khary, combining two, seemingly different worlds, EDM and rap. As Mazde continues his European summer tour, he is rekindling his relationship with the 9 month old track by passing it on to two other producers for remixing. NYC duo, MEMBA and Seattle based, Ark Patrol stepped up to add their own, unique third dimension to "Neverland." MEMBA's treatment is self proclaimed as "cheeky." The twosome added a bangin' trap vibe, overflowing with pleasantly nasty turns and drops—it is dynamically hype. While MEMBA turned it into a slam dunk piece, Ark Patrol layered "Neverland" with a slower, deeper and darker resonance, putting emphasis on the conscious nature of its lyricism. It's safe to say that Mazde passed the torch to the proper artists for capitalization. Each remix possesses a distinctly different spirit, giving the original release the complimentary elements it deserves. Explore these polar yet plentiful remixes via Soundcloud, and keep your eyes peeled for a very special Mazde Buzzzmix coming soon.

THOREAU - BRONZE WHALE x POPESKA - IMAGINE FT. TOM ASPAUL (THOREAU REMIX)

Music, RemixAlli LindseyComment

Rising progressive house producer Thoreau just dropped his vibrant remix of "Imagine" by Bronze Whale and Popeska. While the original track received stellar feedback on its own, Thoreau's treatment is blazing trails for further success of the hit single. Heavy-hitting dance music faces a lot of criticism in the EDM community, primarily for stale repetition and predictable chord progression. Thoreau's spin of "Imagine" is direct proof that progressive house music can, and should be, a revered, multi-faceted take on electronic composition. This remix is tailor made for a summer night house party, or a shoes-off-at-home-shuffle-sesh. Its first major drop at 1:31 is a shock wave of dynamic, pulsating resonance. Thoreau has reshaped this already brilliant single into a stimulating, cleanly mixed dance party. This Boulder-based producer is changing the way the EDM-world looks at progressive house, as his artistic outlook on dance music is refreshing in an often over-saturated market. Get down with Thoreau and his latest remix via Soundcloud, sure to leave you feeling reanimated and recharged.

LAYNE - TOPICAL (SHUHANDZ REMIX)

Music, RemixEricComment

This new remix from Shuhandz is absolute fire. Layne has been taking the LA indie rock scene by storm and was also doing work around the US recently opening for K.Flay on tour. I've heard rumors that she has a bunch of new music on the way as well, but lets get back to this remix. "Topical" is one of my favorite tracks of hers and Shuhandz has turned this emotional tune into an energetic deep house anthem. With subby waves of bass and pulsating blips of top end flirting around the place, this track is perfect for that 2am late night fiesta. You can download this track for free right here

ZEDD - STAY (PETIT BISCUIT REMIX)

Music, RemixAlli Lindsey1 Comment

Born Mehdi Benjelloun, France's live electronic producer and DJ, better known as Petit Biscuit, continues to disrupt the norms of the EDM world. At only 19 years old, Petit Biscuit is performing at globally recognized music festivals, and collaborating with Grammy Award winning musicians. After the monumental success of his 2016 debut album, "Petit Biscuit," his beautiful buzz landed in the hands of Russian born producer, Zedd. Three months ago, Zedd released his single "Stay." And three days ago, Zedd released PB's flip of "Stay" on his Soundcloud. PB's remix is is chopped with a fine, delicate syncopation; it is warm, bubbly and vibrant. As I listen to the collaboration between a radio sensation and a French teenager, I hear the sounds of confetti, and the reverb of celebration. It is an instrumental interpretation of fireworks. It will fill each of your senses with silk and sentiment. PB's integrated piano riffs challenge the standard of electronic music by filling the void of Ableton software with live instruments. This remix is fluid, as it flows like liquid diamonds through my veins. As I stream this track for the 6th time in a row, editing my run on sentences, I am overwhelmed with an artistic vision that can only be inspired by a remix as striking as this one. TREY SONGZ - NOBODY ELSE BUT YOU (MOZADO REMIX)

RemixGuest UserComment

I've always had a soft spot for Trey Songz, but most days in the form of a guilty pleasure and in the privacy of a pair of earbuds. Boston producer Mozado takes Trey Songz' new ballad "Nobody Else But You" in a way that keeps the emotion but retools the track for a more social environment. After elevating the bassline and layering in more dance friendly elements, Mozado's remix takes on a new energy without losing its mellow balance. Grab your free download of the remix here!

THEY. - U RITE (LOUIS FUTON REMIX)

Music, RemixErin MaherComment

I love it when Louis Futon gets dirty. As one of my favorite producers over the past few years, I have seen this Philly producer get nasty with this low end, and it's pretty much the best thing ever! He's been putting out a bunch of really great flips lately, and last week he dropped this super sexy remix of "U Rite" by THEY. It's packed  full of trap arm throwing beats and huge bass drops ... fuckin' dirty! Swoop that free download HERE
