I have been looking forward to seeing Colourmusic for quite some time now! Their latest album, My ___ Is Pink, has been on regular rotation, and they are at the top of my SXSW showcase wishlist!
They have been on tour with Colour Revolt this fall - another band that I love - and then they are heading over to the UK to do a string of shows - including KOKO in London (I love that place!)!
Tonight they play at The Echo - it is an early show, starts at 6 - I'll be there with bells on!!
I am staying home tonight, because it seems I have more fun going out on the week days and avoiding the Hollywood / OC runoff that seems to creap into my fun bars and venues on the weekends. Friday night traffic in Hollywood - is stupid!!
So I decided to clean my downtown loft and move some shit around - because I seem to have enough gear here to outfit a whole band - including amps and a drum kit....and I don't even play in a band - I just manage them - lucky me! What better way to spend the evening than listening to Art Vs Science and using my FLIPPERS to get down, and clean my place!!
I miss my Aussie friends big time - but with another US / Canada tour coming up at the end of October I will be seeing them soon enough!! Woop!! Until then - here is a tasty new remix out of their latest single "With Thoughts" - and it is truly delicious! I have also included a live cover of "Boom Boom Shake The Room" from their Magic Fountain EP - that we can't buy in the states - which I think is lame.....iTunes!!
Viva Voice are a psychedelic rock and roll band from Portland, Oregon. I think they are rad! I love this song! They are on tour right now - so get out and see them!

Good evening! I just woke from a nap and feel like dancing! Good thing RAC is around! Remix masters, thies guys are the shit and have put their spin on every band who is cooler than cool and made them even cooler!
Their newest release - Menatime from the band Givers ! I just saw this band a few weeks ago, and they blew my mind. Now I am tickled to have this track show-up on my radar!! Enjoy!
I was really going to try to get out to see this show tonight, but after spending two nights with Malajube and their crazy Canadian antics, I am tuckered out. A girl can only drink so much until it's time to say, I need a night off!
Miami Horror - another amazing electro pop band from Australia (go figure) are going to be at the El Rey tonight with Class Actress. This show promises to be a ton of fun so put your dancing shoes on because - you will dance!! Who knows, maybe I'll make it out after all.......
Quebec is invading Hollywood this month! It has been grand! Last night I was able to see all of these bands - except for The Besnard Lakes - at an indistry showcase at the Hotel Cafe - and all I can say is that this show tonight is a MUST!!
Patrick Watson, The Besnard Lakes, Malajube, and The Barr Brothers will all be playing @ the El Rey tonight! What an amazing line-up! Doors at 7pm - all ages - $20!! Totally worth it! I am still recovering from last night @ Harvard and Stone with members of Malajube and Patrick Watson - round 2 is tonight!
My friends from the north - Brite Futures - have a new video out! It's pretty cool! I have done a few shows with these guys, and they are a TON of fun live.
They have been working on a new album that will be coming out sometime in the next few months - and are also offering a free download of thier new single "Babay Rain" HERE - so you should go get that free shit!
Brite Futures are hipster heaven - based out of Seattle, WA, this band knows how to have a good time. Their songs are happy and bouncy, and totally danceable. No need to look for deep thoughts around here kids - not taking themselves too seriously and focusing on fun - they are a seriously great band!
I have been a huge fan of this band forever. I was working at a record store in St. Louis, MO back in 2004 - and a promo of their frist album, "Pretend You're Alive" showed up in the mail - and I was like - who the fuck is Lovedrug??
I decided to have a listen, and I instently fell in love. Usually not my thing, but Michael Shepard has such a distinctive voice, and it's so different than anything out there at the time I just couldn't help myself. I soon left St. Louis, around the time "Pretend You're Alive" was released on July 27, 2004, but I took that promo with me and it became part of my regular rotation.
I moved to Europe in 2005 - to Prague - to go to school and to get out of a long term relationship that was turning bad, and "Pretend You're Alive" was an album I listened to almost every day. I would walk through the snow covered streets of that amazing city with my ear buds in and my iPod blasting, and Lovedrug would make everything feel perfect.
Lovedrug will be releasing their new album on their own - who knows if they left The Malitia Group or if they were dropped - none the less they need your help! Like so many other bands these days, they are reaching out to their fans for support, and if you like what you hear you can help to by going HERE to make a pledge and receive a pretty gift in return!
Check out the new video!! I also posted some amazing tracks - so please listen because they are really great. I don't feel this strongly about many bands, but Lovedrug will always be a part of my life! Thanks Lovedrug for being awesome!
So I have a car that my brother gave me, because living in LA without a car sucks and I did it for almost 2 years - so thank you brother - I love my car!! However, I can only listen to the radio in my car, and as we all know - the radio blows!! All I hear is Red Hot Chili Peppers!! So annoying!
Once in a while though, you hear a song that makes you want to sing at the top of your lungs to epic portions, and that happened on my way home tonight as I drove through the city - it was quite a Batman descending into Gotham movie trailer moment!! As I have already admitted and will continue to do so, 30 Seconds To Mars is my all time favorite guilty pleasure band! I love them - I love Jared Leto - they write and record epic songs that sond pretty - and they are hot!!
Tonight as I took 4th street through my georgeous city "Kings And Queens" was played on KROQ - and my spirit was soaring!! For real - I felt totally epic, like I ruled the world!! Then when I get home to watch the video, I discover it was also filmed in downtown LA which then - oh man - it was like everything was right and good in the world - and I even got goosebumps!!!
It's a beautiful video and song, and you even get to see the 4th street bridge and my neighborhood! Thank you Los Angeles for being so inspiring, and thank you 30 Seconds To Mars for continuing to be epic, even though all my friends think your fags - and for making me want to describe something as "epic" so many times!
