Manchester, England.....the music you have given us has been some of the best ever! I love Manchester, the scene, the city, the drunk dude with a bleeding head hitting on me outside a bar....ah the memories!
Hurts hales from this musically magnificant city with a Manchester sound to match! Their video for single "Better Than Love" - released off full length album Happiness (Sept. 2010) - is something else....beautiful! Enjoy!
LA darlings Shadow Shadow Shade have a new video for their new single "Tell Me Who You Are". They have embraced the video trend of using old stock footage to create something visually pleasing - which many indie bands are doing these days....love it. It is such a pretty song and ironically works well with atomic bomb explosions - beauty can be found in the most unexpected places.
They have a show - January 30th at The Satellite in Los Angeles - gotta get out to this one!
Art rock band from Toronto, The Darcys have played with the likes of Deerhoof, Hollerado, Tennis and more throughout 2011 leading up to the release of their debut self-titled album October 25, 2011 on Arts & Crafts. Catch them live once again on a national US tour with Bombay Bicycle Club.
Produced by Murray Lightburn of The Dears, The Darcys self-titled debut album is the first in a trio of planned full-length records. The album is available as a FREE download off The Darcys’ website and fans can also purchase limited edition vinyl.

It's hard to believe Howler is from Minneapolis. They are so obviously from the UK - I mean come on! We like this though - we like rock bands from the UK - and it's no wonder that they are killing it in jolly old England at the moment. But no....Minnesota has just produced the "next big thing" and they are bursting at the seams!
Howler is about to release their debut album on Rough Trade called "America Give Up" on January 16 (EU/UK) and January 17 (US), and I do believe it's going to make boys want to play guitar and girls cry. No gimmicks here - just a rock and roll band with pretty young men and a lot of heart. This is their latest video released last month for their "Back Of Your Neck" single - which you can download for free on their website/facebook page!
OK.....I can admit I was wrong! I am very good at owning up to occasionally being quick to judge and trashing something - espically when it comes to music because I am a snob! I own that too! A few months back I posted a song and video by Ed Sheeran - a sweet little red head singer/songwriter from London.....and I have to say, I was not very nice to him.
Since then, I have actually heard a few songs of his here and there...and I decided to listen again, and I mean really listen. Now, I am not a fan of singer / songwriters at all. Most of the time I am just bored to tears listing to some guy wine about love and heart break....so played out! However.....there are some who are just so great that it's impossible not to love them! Ed Sheeran has just become that for me...right up there with Ryan Adams and Jeff Buckley! I think he is amazing - he has balls and confidence and passion!! This song - "Give Me Love" - just ruined me!! I also included a live acoustic video....
I'm sorry Ed - I was too quick to judge and think you were just another guy with a guitar. You're not.....you're amazing!!
Not being a huge fan of covers - when I find one I like I usually really like it. Bay area indie dance band The Limousines have released a great cover of "Temptation" by New Order. Although they did not improve this classic 80s new wave hit - they certainly did it justice. It's just another example of the amazing music coming out of San Francisco right now - get on it!!
I do have a harder rock side to me - and it does not come out too much but trust me, it's there. I am a huge fan of TOOL, Alice In Changes, and bands of that sort. I don't hear too many good ones these days, mostly because I am litening to indie rock and dance music, but once in a while one gets through.
Chevelle have hit commercial radio with a new song called "Face To The Floor" that I just love. Totally sounds like TOOL, but I don't care. I have been a fan of this band for almost 10 years now - I worked their second studio album "Wander Whats Next" on Epic Records when I was working at Sony Music. Not only are the Chevelle brothers - AKA the Loeffler brothers - really talented musicians, thay are also awesome guys who are greatful and so much fun to be around. Glad to see them back on the scene!
It's pretty hard to make a band like Justice sound better than they actually are because they are just that good! However, some of you might be happy that new Justic Remixes are coming out, seeing as how the reviews for the album were that hey made a rock ablum and the dance sound was missed. So, Brodinski has killed it with this one! Enjoy!
