New Video: Spector - Chevy Thunder

[Your Name Here]Comment

One of my favorite new bands so far this year - Spector - have just released a new video for their single "Chevy Thunder" and it is a good one! Taking a group of brits and putting them in Mexico to deal guns and drugs is always a good time, and I love a skinny pant suit! Not to mention the song woulkd be perfect for an automobile commercial where they can make a grip of money! Cheers mates!!

I really like this band and I can't wait to see them @ SXSW - and they are also on the Coachella lineup! Enjoy!

Gotye - Dig Your Own Hole

Gotye is blowing up! Just like I knew he would - he is beginning to take over the states and will soon be super star statius here like he is in Australia. I have been in 3 major Californian cities over the past week, and I have heard "Somebody I Used to Know" on all commercial radio stations...more than once!

This track called "Dig Your Own Hole" is one of my favorites - it is on the bonus version of Making Mirrors which you still cant get in the states...but that is why we love soundcloud! I am thrilled to watch Gotye become world famous....because he is amazing!

Enjoy!

Art Vs Science - Friend In The Field - Winning the ARIA

[Your Name Here]Comment

I received a message this morning that made me think about my pals Art Vs Science - who found their way back home to Australia - taking some well deserved time off. "Friend in the Field" has a story behind it, one that I relate to because I have been that friend lost in the field, and I have also lost that friend....but all that was lost was also found, much like in this song.

Recently they just won the ARIA award for Best Independent Release for their 2011 ablum The Experiment - which is amazing! I know I talk about Art Vs Science all the time, but they are just that good....they deserve it. Watch the video below - forward to around 6:30 - they look very dapper! :-)

While Dan, D-Mac, and Jim - in my world - are lost in the field tonight, I have no doubt they will be found again, back here in the states and right back into my heart where they live...although it may be a while before that happens!! Cheers!

St. Vincent - Cheerleader

[Your Name Here]Comment

I love this song for so many reasons.... St. Vincent is so amazing.... she is the one of the few exceptions to my not liking female artists so much! Over the weekend I was with a close friend and he played me the video for "Cheerleader" from the Conan show, and it just reminded me about how awesome St. Vincent really is....she is the real deal! Totally brilliant!! This is where music is going, this is what is currently exciting, this is raising the bar...

This song is not only totally fucking cool, it's me....I feel like this all the time! It's interesting and deep and has something to say - it's not another fucking love song.....THANK GOD - because do we really need another one?? Really??

Remix: Capital Cities - Safe and Sound (DiscoTech Remix)

Capital Cities are starting to make a name for themselves in Los Angeles. I love their single "Safe and Sound" and I have been very interested is seeing what their live show is like....I have yet to make it out to one of their events....they seem to play a lot toward the west side of Los Angeles, and I hate going west....once I get west of the 101 and get into Hollywood I tend to freak out a bit...too many douchebags (who I am sure say the same thing about us over here on the east side).

This month Capital Cities are 89.7 residency band (which this month last year is was Vanaprasta) which is a very cool thing. They are going the rout of releasing singles instead of an album...sometimes it works, sometimes it dosn't, but I always wish the best for any band trying to make it in this crule and unbearable time of the music indistry! Here is a new remix of their single "Safe and Sound" by Disco Tech!

New Music: Princeton - Remembrance Of Things To Come

[Your Name Here]Comment

Just when I was starting to think Los Angeles was becoming a wasteland of mediocre bands trying to live off the Silverlake glory years of the middle 2000's - enter Princeton . Don't get me wrong here, there are a slew of great bands in LA right now...but that buzzing energy where the industry is focused on one area is missing. It will come back again....someday! Princeton has been around through it all, and now they are getting ready to release a new album that may just be their swan song!

KCRW premiered their new track "Remembrance Of Things To Come" last week as song of the day, and they are currently in the middle of their Los Angeles Monday night residency at Bootleg Bar - which I am going to check out tonight! Album by the same title is out February 21! Good day to get some new music!
