FLUME - SAY IT FT. TOVE LO (ILLENIUM REMIX)

I've been going through some pretty tough times lately with my Mom battling cancer - right now she needs 24 hour care, and she is a trooper man .... she's tough. Me, I'm not so tough all the time, and watching her go through this is agony. I turn to music to get through every day - it helps me deal with all the emotions one goes through when watching a loved one endure such a awful disease. If you know anything about me, you know Flume is my world, and my homie Illenium just dropped the most therapeutic remix of "Say It ft. Tove Lo" which happens to be my favorite track from Skin. Not shy to admit this .. but I just burst into tears listening to this one ... it's perfect.  It makes me so happy to see an artist like Illenium who we've adamantly supported do such big things - and I feel like I really needed that release. I'm seeing Flume in a few weeks, and I'm sure I'm going to be a mess there as well!  Haha! Illenium crushed this! So proud! 

SKOTT - PORCELAIN (AWAY REMIX)

Scandinavian newcomer Skott, who has only released two songs to date, has enlisted the talents of LA-based producer AWAY for her first official remix. AWAY and I met at rooftop party and I’m glad we stayed in touch. A relative newcomer himself, he has garnered serious traction on his first two remixes of THEY.’s “Motley Crue” and Kiiara’s “Feels”, the latter of which topped the Hype Machine charts. (The former still hit #2). His style is incredible unique. You could call it future bass, future beats, maybe future trap, maybe even future dub, but it’s definitely ahead of its time. Deep echoing powerful synths, wood blocks and other uncommon percussive sounds, snappy trap hi-hats - all present. Speaking on the project he told me "AWAY (Alone With All of You) is a music/art project that represents the emotional void present in all of us. We live in an era where we are more connected than ever, but beneath the surface we often feel alone. With deep-rooted influences in experimental rock and electronica, AWAY’s style is boundless. My focus is to create art that conveys emotion and a connection to a darker truth that most of us often suppress." His take on Skott’s emotional debut single “Porcelain”, which Lorde called “the shit”, may just be his best to date. You’ll definitely want to listen to this one more than once.

FØRD - THE PIER (FT. WOODES)

I met 19-year-old producer FØRD a few months ago at a music industry mixer in downtown LA. He’s super nice, and equally humble and ambitious. The young talent from Byron Bay, Australia isn’t even technically old enough to drink in the States, but he’s already well on his way to having a successful career in music. He’s got some really dope first few tracks, has been jetting across the Pacific for meetings and sessions in LA, and has even played ping pong with Flume already! This latest collab features a fellow Aussie - Melbourne-based singer/songwriter/ producer Woodes - and I’ve gotta believe was written about the Santa Monica Pier and the awe one feels when visiting Los Angeles for the first time. She sings, “Beige-colored kingdom of tall palms and white sand, green dollar bills…I can’t imagine what it’s like to fit in here.” LA definitely has a certain fairytale mystique to it. FØRD’s production certainly gives off calm beach vibes. I really dig his drums, there’s something about them that’s part hip hop, but also a little tribal. Couple that with Woodes’ soft and sensual vocals and you’ve got a perfect song for cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway with your significant other. I’m excited to see what’s next for FØRD, because he’s only getting better.

MALAA - DIAMONDS (SKITZOFRENIX & JEFF DOUBLEU REMIX)

The remixes for "Diamonds" by Malaa have dropped, and even tho we think each track is tasty in it's own way - this one caught our ear. Skitzofrenix & Jeff Double have delivered a fantastic ghettohouse version that has both an intense groove and luscious deep house vibe. Last week we also announced a SF date with Malaa on October 13 at The UC Theatre in Berkeley.  Tickets are on sale now, and you can swoop them HERE! 

L D R U - NEXT TO YOU (THE REMIXES)

One of the sweetest baby angels I ever met is my homie L D R U. It's been over a year since we've been together - and I am 100% missing his positive vibes and brilliant spirit. 1/2 of OSWLA duo Carmada - this Aussie legend has been crushing the L D R U solo project this year something fierce.  With a platinum selling record of "Keeping Score" and a massive tour through Australia - you could say he's winning. He'll be playing some shows in the states on the Slander & NGHTMRE Gud Vibrations tour - however no west coast dates announced yet. The remixes for "Next To You" dropped a few days back via Audiopaxx + Ultra, and they've put up to delicious tracks - a deep house gem by Kyle Watson and a big bass banger by Barely Alive & Virtual Riot. You can swoop these and peep the others via iTunes HERE!  

BOEHM - SWALLOW MY PRIDE (VICEROY REMIX)

Viceroy has been putting out a ton of excellent remixes and original tracks this year - you could definitely say he's lit! The Sultan of Summer is back with another fun filled indie dance house music gem with his remix of "Swallow My Pride" by Boehm. With bouncy rhythms and and hints of tropical vibes, this one will have you shakin that booty on the dance floor! MARSHMELLO - ALONE (LONDON BRIDGE FESTIVAL REMIX)

Lately the EDM community has been put to the test - for many of us life has thrown some curve balls and the coping/recovering process has been tough. From battles with cancer (hang in there Mom) to unexpected death (RIP Big Makk) - I think I am safe to say we all feel it right now. A few weeks back house music producer and fellow promoter homie LondonBridge was in a car accident - hit by someone texting and driving! Thankfully he's alright and recovering nicely - but left with a broken knee. This weekend he is missing 2 festival gigs because of his injury and even thow he is thankful to be alive and staying positive on socials - it's still a bummer. Today I wanna send massive love to LondonBridge to let him know I'm behind him 100% - and you guys should too! The one thing about this community is that when times are tough, we come together and support each other, more than any other music community I've been associated with other the years. MELF - CRZY (FT. ALEXANDRA ROTAN)

If you’re a fan of Flume then you are bound to love this new track from Oslo-based producer Melf. Always one to experiment with different sounds, Melf keeps you guessing all the way through this tune. A mixture of beautiful vocals from Alexandra Rotan and unexpected drops help this track stand out as a powerful contender in the progressive EDM world. This tune is bound to take you through some feelings and leave you wanting more. Released on the same day as the equally experimental ‘Guilty’, it seems that Melf is on the right track to bring us more awesome tracks.

RL GRIME - CORE (TRAILS FLIP)

It’s Fri-yay y’all! I’m getting ready to head out into the desert for my first year of Nocturnal Wonderland this weekend. Definitely ready to let go a little stress from the week and get ready to do some dancing and let loose ya know? This tune is helping me out for sure. TRAILS is a name we’ve seen popping up a lot the last year. The rising producer from Germany is becoming known for his unique reworks of Flume, Goldroom, Louis The Child, and others. His lone original “Crying In The Shadows”, released earlier this year, is an awe-inspiring fusion of genres and even includes a killer guitar solo. TRAILS demonstrates a level of understanding of production and musicality that I think is becoming less and less prevalent among many of today’s new producer/DJs. This new take on the classic RL Grime trap banger breathes a whole new life into the track. He injects super summery future bass vibes while still preserving the essence of the original. Keep an eye on TRAILS fam, cause he’s going places!
