BREAK SCIENCE - ANTHEMY MASON (LATE NIGHT RADIO REMIX)

Music, RemixSara NatkinsComment

Electro-funk producer Late Night Radio is finishing up his 2018 with a bang. At the heels of his recently-released album Sunday, the future-funk producer returns with his official remix of Break Science’s “Anthemy Mason” featuring Brasstracks. A melting pot of funk, soul, hip-hop cadences, and nu-disco, the forces behind this “Anthemy Mason” remix are amongst the leading figures in organic electronic music. Balancing a bodacious beat with a wicked horn section, this remix pays tribute to the original single while simultaneously leaving listeners feeling refreshed by Late Night Radio’s unique take on funk. This syrupy remix is a wildfire of groove, setting the stage for what’s soon to be a fantastic 2019 for Late Night Radio- watch this space.

Seriously tho - Brasstracks are untouchable.  It's not very often that we cover EP's - we like to focus on one track at a time .... but this new EP from our dynamic duo loves is just so fucking good .... I just can't not NOT talk abut the whole damn thing! For Those Who Know Pt. I is sonic heaven. Mixing Funk, Jazz, Hip-hop, Dance, Electronic, R&B, Future, Pop, and all the other rad feels you can think of - this EP is pure fire! We keep blasting it in the office/club here at Mezzanine, and I'm working hard on getting them on their first Beautiful Buzzz show! The two tracks I chose to feature are "Improve #1 (Intro) ft. The Underachievers & Robert Glasper" and "Opposite Ways ft. Fatherdude & S'natra" because .... everyone needs a little of Fatherdude's sexy soulful voice in their lives, we love him!  If you like what your hearing, you need to check out the entire EP HERE! Holy mac! Brasstracks tho .... I mean it just keeps getting better and better! Ivan and Conor have been crushing all the things with their Brasstracks project, and personally they kinda make me swoon with their sweet jams! Jazz infused future bass feels is the signature sound by combining brassy melodies with R&B vibes with that luscious bass ... so amazing! This new track "Those Who Know" debuts Ivan's vocal skills as well - proving that these guys really can do it all. Well done!

BRASSTRACKS - FAVORITE (FEAT. VANJESS)

Music, Original MixEricComment

Well here they are again. My dudes Brasstracks are back on the pages of BB. Conor and Ivan have continually left me in a great headspace with their sexy brand of electro soul. Their originals (check out "Good Love ft. Jay Prince") have been just as cool as their covers (listen to their "All Of the Lights Cover" with our Buzzzmix partner today Alexander Lewis) and there's no sign of slowing down. This new single featuring R&B Nigerian American duo VanJess is a slowed down house jam with a mysterious quality to it that should take you straight to the neon clouded skyline of Tokyo. The vocal melody in the second part of the choruses just floats upward with silky smooth precision that's almost equal parts haunting and relaxing. "I just want to be...your favorite" she sings...well I think this one may just be exactly that.

LIL UZI VERT - XO TOUR LLIF3 (BRASSTRACKS COVER)

Music, Remix, CoverEricComment

My fave brassy duo are back with another delicious cover of a famous hip hop track. Following up on their cover of "All Of The Lights" with Alexander Lewis they've chose to take on Lil Uzi Vert's "XO Tour Llif3". Someone told me that Lil Uzi Vert is a messed up version of lucifer? Not sure if that's a joke or true, but now I'm wondering where he got that name haha. Anyways the Brasstracks boys do their thing and deliver another fun gem that's a head bobber for sure. Oh and it's on Spotify too >>>> https://open.spotify.com/track/1AY001zik4a6IFFE4ZrV9K.

ALEXANDER LEWIS & BRASSTRACKS - ALL OF THE LIGHTS

Music, CoverErin MaherComment

There are many days I feel like the "music industry" should be renamed to the "hustle industry" because we all live that hustle life. I've never met harder working individuals anywhere else, from artists to agents to managers to buyers, we all work 24-7 and never give up. If you don't know that hustle life, you're doing it wrong! Know who's doing it right tho ..... these two incredible artists riiiiight here! LA Producer Alexander Lewis and Brooklyn future bass duo Brasstracks combined their big brassy sounds on this cover of "All Of The Lights" and I am feeeeeling it. Both these rising stars have spent the past year on that strong hustle releasing one fire track after another, and we love supporting them every step of the way! This is the future of music, these are the guys breaking new ground. You can grab a free download HERE

GRIZ - GOTTA PUSH ON (FT. BRASSTRACKS & ERIC KRASNO)

Music, Original MixEricComment

Oh man this might just be one of my favorite GRiZ tracks yet! As one of the primary artists in my mind that has been slowly pushing the funk and soul agenda onto the dance music scene, GRiZ has done so with style, saxophone, distorted synths and boatloads of bass. However "Gotta Push On" is not the most bombastic record which, in my opinion, makes it that much more special. It hits with the same kind of hype and energy that embodies many of GRiZ's other records except that the chorus leads with Brasstracks...yes BRASSTRACKS' sexy horns. Eric Krasno sounds superb and the choir that he got to sing in the end crushes! This track I feel epitomizes the direction GRiZ has been pushing toward for many years, and comes at the perfect time. Just about the only thing missing from a track of this magnitude is a slick verse from sayyyy I don't know...Anderson .Paak. Ha ha I know...a guy can dream right? Anyways, until that dream becomes a reality just take a second to enjoy a remarkable artist seemingly at the height of his game. "Gotta Push On" comes as the final single released before GRiZ drops his new LP 'Good Will Prevail' this Friday Sept. 23. The 'Good Will Prevail' LP is currently available for pre-sale on iTunes here.

San Fran! There might still be some last minute tickets available for GRiZ's Funksgiving show November 26th at the Bill Graham Auditorium. You can purchase tickets below!

BRASSTRACKS - MELANIN MAN (FEAT. MASEGO) + GOOD LOVE EP

Original Mix, MusicEricComment

I have to show some more love to Brasstracks. They have just had a killer year so far and I've absolutely loved all of their releases including the 'Good Love' EP which was just released last Friday. We actually had the pleasure of hosting Masego at our SXSW showcase last March, so when I saw these two teaming up I knew this was going to be something special. "Melanin Man" is everything I hoped for and more. The track is funky, soulful and yep super horny with an ice cold smoothness that's like non other. Masego hits the vocals with flair, the drumming keeps its snappy while the horn arrangements accent with pin point precision. This is a total jam and deserves every bit of support it can get. You can purchase the 'Good Love' EP on iTunes here, or stream on spotify here.
