MAKO & RAT CITY - RUN FOR YOUR LIFE FT. NATALOLA

Music, Original MixErin MaherComment

I am always in the mood for a good dance pop song - and this new one by Mako & Rat City is just what the doctor ordered. "Run For Your Life ft. Natalola" has that feel good playful pop vibe that we all love, and I'm currently couch dancing as I type! This is the second track on Mako's debut album Hourglass which came out a few days back, and holy mack it's amazing! With Rat City's disco indie dance flair and Natalola's soulful vocals - this one gets the stamp of approval. You guys can swoop Hourglass HERE!

MAKO - LET GO OF THE WHEEL + HOURGLASS LP

Ok this was was a must today. I had the ultimate pleasure of seeing Mako's first ever live show last night, and damn Alex and Logan absolutely crushed it! So a little backstory, the guys have undergone a transformation over the last year moving from their dance heavy roots into a full indie pop soiree that is ready to take on the world! Their new live show has strings, guitars, keys and drums with Alex's vocals leading the way. I've also had the pleasure of hearing their upcoming Hourglass LP due out next Friday December 9th, which is also amazing and is currently available for pre-order here. Let's tap into "Let Go Of The Wheel," this final single from the LP might just be the best of the album. The tune starts warm and relaxed with an uplifting arp and pads filling out the instrumental behind Alex's first verse. As the guitars slide in leading us into the pre-chorus, the track explodes into massively uplifting chorus, full of cascading melodies of vocal ooh's, and layers of sound full of sun soaked strings, pads and a punchy snare/clap. "Let Go Of The Wheel" is a beautiful exposé of their new sound, poised to keep us warm and in high spirits as we launch into the Christmas season.

MAKO - SMOKE FILLED ROOM (SEVERO REMIX)

Music, RemixErin MaherComment

I am feeling quite chipper today - and not because I have some awesome BBQ plans for the 4th Of July holiday. It's more like a overall positive feeling about life, and how I finally feel like all my years of hard backbreaking work are finally paying off! That's why I picked this track to put up on BB today - because everyone has to start somewhere, and Severo is just getting to it. This Swedish producer is only 15 ... holy mac! I mean when I was 15 all I cared about were boys and well ... boys! Severo is someone I can see evolving into greatness - his remix of "Smoke Filled Room" buy Mako shows maturity and depth ... I get all kinds of feels with this one! Severo also means Severe in Spanish - fun fact of the day! Let's welcome yung Severo to his first BB post, his first track on HypeM, and hopefully many more to come! Grab a free download HERE

[PREMIERE] MAKO - WAY BACK HOME (TASTYTREAT REMIX)

Music, PREMIERE, RemixEricComment

Well it's Friday, and I should know better at this point, but I guess Friday has become the new Tuesday so we've got a slew of amazing new music coming at ya! We've got yet another Get Buzzzed alumni (I gotta say our SXSW show was on point!) TastyTreat throwing it down with an amazing rework of Mako's cinematic single "Way Back Home." The boys have taken the single and put a dancier tone to it, all the while keeping much of the original's essence. Mako's vocals really are the heart and soul of the record and TastyTreat keeps them intact all the while building to a near perfect future drop with airy bright synths, triplett wobbles, deep sub and a splash of piano like melody that locks it all together with a bow. What a great way to get hype for the weekend! You can nab this on digital retailers courtesy of Ultra Records here.

ILLENIUM - TOP 5 SUMMER JAMS (LOW TICKET ALERT)

Music, Original Mix, Remix, Top 5Erin MaherComment

LOW TICKET ALERT
Guys! Our Illenium + Said The Sky show in San Francisco on May 14 is almost sold out! These tickets went so fast! I'd definitely swoop them now before they are gone!

Illenium is pretty much everything right now!  A few weeks back he released his full length album Ashes which is packed full of the most dreamy future feels anyone could ever ask for! He's also announced a big spring tour which is selling like crazy - and we are psyched to be a part of it all! Today Illenium offers up his Top 5 Summer Jams for us to vibe out with!

Ember Island - Need You (Gill Chang Remix)
Ember Island is one of my favorite vocal groups right now.  The vocalist is like a mix of Ellie Goulding and Purity Ring and Gill Chang absolutely crushed this remix.  Love the intricacy and vibe.

Mako - Way Back Home
This has been on repeat for the past 2 months.  Mako is so awesome at creating an intense and organic atmosphere and these vocals and harmonies are absolutely perfect

Mitis - Foundations ft. Adara
Mitis has been a favorite of mine for a while now and this new original stands out to me as one of his best tracks.  The intro and vocal bring me in immediately and the drop is super unique.

Evangeline - My Kingdom (William Black Remix)
Will Black is on the come up and has been putting out super solid remixes recently.  I love the groove on this one and the vocal chop is money.  Some of his unreleased stuff is amazing too. Definitely check him out.

Tommy Trash - Luv U Giv (NGHTMRE Remix)
NGHTMRE is one of the most consistent producers I know and this remix is so sick.  I love the old school vocal vibe mixed with his future bass sounds.  Always love hearing his new tunes.

[PREMIERE] MAKO - SMOKE FILLED ROOM (MNYKR & SNØWMASS REMIX)

Music, Remix, PREMIEREEricComment

Time for your daily dose of BB future feels! Love the alliteration with that ha ha but I digress. Mako has had a plethora of fantastic remixes come out for their smash single "Smoke Filled Room," but MNYKER and Snøwmass have put together a terrific new envisioning of the original. Starting with what sounds like park crowd noises behind subtle pads, the vocals swiftly come in with a smooth beat that creates an incredibly chill soundscape. As we're built up and lead into the dance break, the classic future sidechained synths hit us with a vocal chop lead line that pumps it up into overdrive. MNYKR & Snøwmass totally hit the mark with this one putting up a bullseye in the remix category. Equal parts chill and hype (can I even say that??) this record takes a whole lot of good from the original and adds soo much future bass greatness. Nab this free download here.
