IAMU - COMPROMEYES

Music, Original MixSara NatkinsComment

A refreshing new act in the electronic-pop space, ïamu arrives at the intersection of fun and friendship. Born in Columbia and raised in a family of musicians, ïamu was classically trained on the piano at a young age. Raised in Union City, New Jersey, ïamu fuses nostalgic soundscapes with future-pop nuances. Amid his efforts to create space spaces on dance floors across the globe, ïamu unveils his debut studio single “Compromeyes” via Warpaint Records. Despite its title, this ïamu original is uncompromising in its originality and upbeat flair. Chopped synths collide with his welcoming vocals on “Compromeyes,” guiding listeners through euphoric peaks and valleys. This shimmering triumph is the only thing we have playing going into this winter weekend. Take a listen today and expect more from ïamu in 2021.

QUINCY MUMFORD - THANK YOU

Original Mix, MusicSara NatkinsComment

You really have to hand it to musicians; it’s nearly impossible to fathom how difficult and painstaking it must be to come up with something so innovative that one can create a sound-based brand for their selves that’s identifiable. With so many styles and genrse having been exhausted already, and with trends coming and going so rapidly, it’s pretty hard for us to come across a song that we can defiantly say “THIS is different.” We can only assume that it takes a whole lotta thinking outside the box and a ton of patience.

That’s why when Quincy Mumford’s latest track “Thank You” was brought to our attention, we felt as if we had struck gold. Blending concepts such as old school, mellow hip hop riffs with pop electronic synths with the help of producer Jenaux, the two artists design something beautiful through the most unlikely of combinations. The production is woven together with Quincy’s voice, one that can achieve such a high pitch range that nearly resembles Prince’s very own. For us, “Thank You” is like a breath of fresh air, and we certainly can’t- and won’t- get enough of it.

TWENTY ONE PILOTS - JUMPSUIT (IN BLOOM REMIX)

Remix, MusicSara NatkinsComment

You know that one song you have that makes you feel like you’re the coolest person in the world; when you’re walking down the street, absolutely owning it, and you feel completely invincible? Well, newcomer In Bloom’s latest release fits exactly that bill. The producer challenges Twenty One Pilot’s original “Jumpsuit,” as he puts an incredibly sexy, dark glitch-filled spin on it, and boy does he succeed. To give you some more perspective, imagine if Daft Punk, Justice and the Glitch Mob all had a child- this is exactly what they’d get. In other words, In Bloom’s rendition goes H A R D, and it wouldn’t be surprising in the slightest if this track ended up in every forthcoming festival set. That said, I suggest you crank your speakers up before hitting play on this one.

TIM GUNTER - RUNNING AWAY

Music, Original MixAlli LindseyComment

Surrounded by support, and a staple name in the "come up," LA-based producer Tim Gunter drops, "Running Away," an intoxicating future-bass masterpiece. Despite his current residence in the city of angels, Gunter's hometown is none other than "the live music capital of the world," Austin, TX., where much of his influence is drawn from. His style of production is fluid- each note transcends the other with a swift, seamless transition. Approachable and familiar "Running Away" is both introspective, and high-energy. Electricity radiates in every direction filling your senses with movement and both potential, and kinetic energies. A crusade of genre-blending aromas, and intentional syncopation, "Running Away" is a frequency of it's own.

STEVE REECE & MARIA LYNN - LAMBO

Music, Original MixAlli LindseyComment

Holy, yes! I don't know how to appropriately articulate the fact that this track makes me think of morning dew. Producer Steve Reece and singer, songwiter Maria Lynn teamed to drop a super fresh single titled, "Lambo." Released via Chill Nation, "Lambo," after only a week, is a definite hit. It's electric pop fragrance, and it's indie roots make for an embraceable work of art. With a breezy cadence and lyrics that speak only of the finer things, it's nothing short of charming. Steve Reece and Maria Lynn are crisp, organic, and harmonious in their first original release as a duo. I spy a successful future for these two.

EMBRZ - HEARTLINES FT. MEADOWLARK

Music, Original MixMike DooseComment

Oh boy our favorite Irish downtempo maestro EMBRZ is back smoldering again with "Heartlines." The first single from his upcoming 'Progress EP' due out this summer, "Heartlines" is a tender tune that bobs and weaves its way forward lead by Meadowlark's mesmerizing vocals. If this is an exposé of what's to come from the EP then I'm thinking it will be an absolute joy to listen to - much like this single. SLEEPING LION - STOP IT

MusicMike DooseComment

A few months ago I was introduced to this Boston-based duo and we've quickly become good friends, as far as cross-country internet friendships go. Sleeping Lion is Nate Flaks (songwriting/vocals) and Noah Longworth McGuire (production/co-vocals) and their press release labels their sound as so-called "dorm soul" which is a fairly apt name considering the two met at Berklee College of Music and make emotionally drenched alternative pop-soul rich with youthful lyrical melodrama and forward-thinking electronic arrangements. A co-write with Flaks' recent ex Abbey Carey and guest vocals from Opia's Jacob Reske, this new tune "Stop It" was released last week via Majestic Casual, and it's a slow-burning story of heartache with an overarching feeling of hope for brighter new beginnings. Take a deep dive into this swirling electro-soul pool of feels y'all.

POOLCLVB - WAITING FOR YOU + 'YOU + ME' EP

Music, Original Mix, EPEricComment

It might be cold, rainy and damp in LA right now, but I know it's bright and sunny in the land down under, home to this sunshine struck producer POOLCLVB. Celebrating the release of his beach friendly 'You + Me' EP I'm excited to show you this groovy record "Waiting For You." Bouncy light synths mull around with exceptional precision providing the groundwork for the mellow vocals from Carl Fox (½ of porches). Definitely check out the rest of the 'You + Me' EP for more cabana ready tunes. You can stream this on Spotify from etcetc records here.
