Auction

I have been talking about this band for quite some time now - and as I begin to wind down from my busy day of booking shows, bloging, and sending out one million emails - I turn to Auction because...well....they are RAD!

Just a baby band from the UK - only 323 facebook friends....huh?? But their single "Statues" is like the best thing I have ever heard! I bought the 45 and they shipped it to me, that was cool...I post their music on my facebook, that's cool too...and I put "Statues" on every mix tape I make, very cool...now I am just dying for something new from these guys, or some US shows?

Dear Auction: I need a live show! How about you come to SXSW in 2012 and play my popantipop / Sea Shepherd Conservation Society showcase? Or come to LA - you can crash at my place....I don't cook or anything but we can get drunk! I love your muisic....thanks for being RAD!

New Video: The Hundred Days - Girl at a Party

[Your Name Here]Comment

There aint no party like a The Hundred Days party - that is for sure! I know this, I have been at the epicenter of many crazy nights with this foursome from San Francisco! There has been laughs, spills, thrills, hair cutting, chick fights, sun rises, bottle throwing, cock blocking, dance partying, fighting, and everything else that goes along with your BFF's! Bless The Hundred Days!

They have a new video out for their second single, "Girl At A Party" from their debut album, "Really?" - which you can buy from iTunes HERE! Again, director David Dutton does an amazing job - applying his colorful aesthetic to this video - showing us what The Hundred Days party is really like! This is a dance fantastic tune that everyone can relate to - because we all know of or have been that girl at a party...for real!

This song is a true story - written about a girl from Los Angeles at a party....gotta love it!!

Midnight Magic: A nine person ensemble bonded by the unwavering desire to make you, the listener, and the rhythm become one; the secret love children of Donna Summer and George Clinton serving up an orgasmic feast of funk, disco, electro and soul.

Holy Ghost just did an awesome remix of Midnight Magic's song "Drop Me A Line"! Well done!!

Tonight: A B & The Sea @ Bootleg

[Your Name Here]Comment

Like any other city - San Francisco has one hell of a music scene - but most people outside of the bay area have no idea how good it is. I happen to spend a lot of time there and work with many of the SF area bands because I manage one of them - so I have been able to really see how great the scene actually is. A B & The Sea is one of the most talked about up and coming bay area bands - and they play tonight in Los Angeles @ The Bootleg.

Their sound has been described as a modern day Beach Boys meets The Beatles - so if your into that Californian surf soud with happy rock undertones, this will be the show for you. I have actually never seen them live - I have only heard their music and done a bit of the partying after hours style - so I am pretty stoked to check out the show! They play early - 9pm - followed by Olin & The Moon and then Chamberlin.

Drive: The Soundtrack

[Your Name Here]Comment

My new favorite movie at the moment is Drive! Having a film degree - a masters in Film Theory (very sexy) - I actually dont like most movies because, well, I'm a snob and I'm a lot smarter than the average film watcher....yeah.....I said it!!

Now having a job in the music industry - music being my first love - the two industries constantly collide. My boss mixed the soundtrack for The Social Network, and is currently mixing the soundtrack for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - Trent Reznor's most recent masterpiece - and yes - it's fucking awesome!! So when I see a great film like Drive, and the soundtrack is as awesome as what I am seeing - I am a happy girl!

My only criticism is this - Cliff Martinez needs to stop stealing the "Social Network" sound from Trent!! At one point in the film, I actually thought I was hearing something from The Social Network....and I heard that music a thousand times when it was being mixed. However, I love that he was inspired by ’80s-style, synth-pop, and it makes the film that much more compelling!

Check out some of the tracks below - and go see the movie! And guys - I know Ryan Gosling is in the film and it makes you think that this movie is not for you - but you are wrong....it is straight gangster with blood and people getting shot and even some boobies!! Not a chick flick!!

Wolf Gang

[Your Name Here]Comment

I'm obsessed!! For real! This band pretty much sums up everything that I think is awesome! Another musical genius coming out of London, Max McElligott has created Wolf Gang - delightful british pop with dance undertones, hints of MGMT, and the full epic sound of Coldplay! It's the best of what indie pop has to offer these days!

Wolf Gang EP was released on March 15 and can be purchased on iTunes - and the full langth called "Suego Faults" was released on July 18 - which is not released in the states as of yet!

Wolf Gang is currently Emerge NME Radar Tour in the UK (tour dates below), and I can't wait for some US dates! This band just made the top 5 for on the wish list for my 2012 SXSW showcase!

New Album: Justice

[Your Name Here]Comment

The thing I am most excited for this month (becides hitting a few Art Vs Science shows) is the new LP release from Justice! I was just reminded about it while facebooking - and a friend posted the video for "Audio, Video, Disco" - which she was not too impressed by the song. I happen to disagree - I love the song and I really like the direction the band is taking. Some people may miss the crunchy distorted beats that Justice is so famous for - but why do the same old thing.....

So far, with this new album, Justice are proving that they can make other music becides distorted house funk music - and trust me, I love the funk - but now we are seeing a different side, not so much funk....could this be their "rock" album?

I am excited to see what else our boys from France will bring us! The New album - "Audio, Video, Disco" - comes out October 24!
